Looking for OKW Feedback

Didnt mean to offend anyone, but I think my statement was very positive about OKW. I also mentioned that it was probably the theme that lends itself to this for my taste. Honestly - the other DVC resorts all have an elegance that OKW (to me) does not have, but again, that is probably due to the theming of the resort.

We enjoyed our stay, and would definitely stay again.

I don't think anyone was offended. They just disagreed with you.

Personally, I think OKW has more charm and elegance than the other DVC properties...it's just very understated. It is, hands down, our favorite DVC resort!

OKW, without a doubt, gives you the best "bang for your buck" of any of the DVC resorts. This was the first DVC resort and they gave you accomodiations that have never been repeated (largest rooms, most space per number of units--the OKW complex is huge). Once OKW (was initially called "the Disney Vacation Club" and later renamed "Old Key West") started selling briskly back in 1990-91 DVC made the decision/calculation that they did not have to offer "quite THAT much" to make the sale, thus BWV came along with the hotel design (loooong hallways, smaller villas in a more modular design) at a higher price. I'm sure if DVC took the existing land they have at OKW and redesigned the units to the current building configuration they would probably add another 200 units or more. OKW is quite, tranquil, spacious--all inside the confines of WDW. Some have complained that OKW is not "close to anything"--its a bus ride away from anything in WDW. I'm an OKW evangelist!

Uncle Servo- do also go by "Ol’ Chum Bucket"? If so, WOW! We have a real celebrity in our midst!

Uhm... not that I can recall at the moment. I always eat at the Krusty Krab myself. :rolleyes1

If you're referring to the sig picture with Alex, I was on there for two days back in '06. Won the first day due in no small part to a "Disney Film Voices" category. No, really. :rotfl:

CraftyMouse, I think you hit it right on the head when you said understated. It's a casual kind of charm.

Disney Film Voices! What GOOD LUCK you have! I thought you were the 'talk like a pirate day' guy who was on Jeopardy with the initials J.B. I thought that J.B. was also affectionately referred to as "Old Chum Bucket" by his fans.
That is very cool, either way, whoever you are.

Anyway, back to the point. OKW is wicked awesome. I love it. The room size and the landscaping are my favorite things about okw. And I was impressed with the CMs. Each and every one was great- several went above and beyond.

Oh, you can NOT open this can of worms and then walk away from it... hehehe...

Okay, since yesterday was TLAPD I can see that. The "talk like a pirate" bit actually came about during the walk-throughs earlier in the day. The handlers were trying to get us pumped up (their favorite saying is that Jeopardy was NOT Masterpiece Theatre), and I just let rip with a pirate-like "AHRRRR!!!!" Everyone started laughing, and that became a running joke the rest of the day all over the set (if you see the video of the second day, you can even see me saying "AHRRRR!!!!" because the handler just under the camera is egging me on by doing it too). During the first commercial break of the second episode, Alex asked what was going on with everyone doing the "AHRRRR!!!!" bit... and when told, even he cut loose with a hearty "AHRRRR -- WHAT'S IN YOUR WALLET?!?!?!" That sight alone was worth crashing and burning as bad as I did. :lmao:

The Disney category came up on the first episode. I'd been trying to get on the show for roughly 20 years (all the way since high school), so during the first commercial break I bowed my head and said "Lord, all I ask is for ONE day... just so I can say 'I won on Jeopardy.' Anything else is up to you..." Well, that category came up in Double Jeopardy -- and I was SOOOOOOO glad that the camera wasn't on me and my ear-to-ear grin.

The Lord gave me one day... but only one. :happytv:

I have yet to encounter a CM who was anything less than great... and OKW was certainly no exception. My personal favorite thing about the place is that the studios (which we try to get no matter where we stay) has two beds rather than a bed and a sleeper sofa. MUCH more comfortable. :thumbsup2
