My SIL is waiting for her military husband to come home from Afghanistan (expected late June). They are trying to plan a welcome home vacation spending 5 days offsite, and 5 days at WDW.

Any suggestions for a place to stay for 2 adults, 3 kids, that might have a kitchen & laundry?

Thanks for your help.

A few suggestions ...

If you want the laundry actually in your personal space (as opposed to a coin laundry somewhere in the complex), I would look into renting a house. A 2 or 3 bedroom would be plenty of space and give you a full kitchen and washer and dryer as well as a private inground screened in pool.

If you don't mind the coin laundry, there are plenty of options of suite hotels that have either full kitchens or at least microwaves and mini-fridges. As for full kitchens, you've got Residence Inn, Homewood Suites, Days Suites, and all the condo places. If the micro and fridge is all you need, SpringHill Suites is nice.

I'm sure some other users can recommend some other places that meet your criteria.

She may want to check out the Armed Forces Vacation Club, where she may be able to secure a week in a spacious 2BR condo at a nice Kissimmee or Orlando timeshare resort. A week costs $249 and up! HTH. :)

Summerfield Suites has a full kitchen and is very nice. They have locations in LBV and on I- Dr.They do not have washer and dryers in the suite but have two seperate bedrooms as well as a one bdr. suite.

Don't know what your price range was, but the Hilton Grand Vacations Club can be booked on Expedia for ~140/night for 2 bedroom "villas" which are essentially apartments. They include a full kitchen and laundry in the apartment as well as a jacuzzi tub and the run of the place. I stayed there recently and it was very nice.

Nothing like a 50inch TV to keep the kids occupied. Pool areas are nice with plenty of seating and multiple pools. Lots of activities on-site (horseback riding, crafts, etc.) aimed at kids and adults.

Location is close to Seaworld which puts you about 1/2 way between Disney and Universal. They did have shuttles to the parks, but I rented a car so I don't know how well they run.

Although it is a timeshare resort, as a non-owner, the only pitch I got was a message on the voicemail letting me know that if I wanted to set up an appointment they were available.
