I just love this site...you all are just great with advice...

Will need this for May 31 - June 3, 2005. Family of three looking for 3 day trip to WDW, will stay off site due to cost. I would like opinions of good clean inexpensive hotel, motel...oh, and of course close to WDW... :) I have looked at hotels.com and see alot of places, but just don't know if they are any good. Thank you all so... much!!

www.hotelmartusa.com

look here too - also last night on
www.easyclicktravel.com

they are having a special on Quality Inn Maingate West - I won't generally recommend this hotel - but if the special is true for $19 - I might be tempted to stay there.

I do like
LaQuinta Inn Lakeside
LaQuinta Inn Maingate

some of the best western get good review here.

for 3 days I might also be tempted to try
www.priceline.com

the average hotel probably.

Orlando has gotten some GREAT hotels - but I don't think you want to pay Disney prices for offsite.

correct that - the Holiday Inn in the area - due to personel reviews here - aren't the hotels they once were.

oh I forgot one that people here seem to love
Cypress Pointe - it is a villa - but you can get a per night on hotelkingdom.

How much do you want to spend/night. The value resorts at Disney are $100/night, less with AAA discount. Include the fact that you don't need a car, no parking fee at Disney, get free transportation from the airport to Disney and back, can do a meal plan for $35/day/adult and you are onsite and the off sites aren't really any less expensive then the Disney value resorts.

the value resorts are $99 with tax that makes $110

offsite you can get one for $35 to $44 with taxes - $40 to $50.

offsite is still cheaper.

:) well, I really do need the less $$

I would love love love to stay on site...maybe in the next year or two we could do this, really would like too! Hey, maybe they could run the $49 special disney had a few years ago, shoulda went then.:guilty:

We will be driving down we live in GA so a car to get around in

Yes, a $30-$50 motel is what I am looking for - but again just to sleep and shower...but also clean and neat...something fair but not over the top...

Yes and no. Let's say you can get a value at $99. Then you get the meal plan with your room for $35/day. An adult can't eat the same meals in the parks for anywhere near $35/day (yes, you can do a couple counter service for less, but not the same meals), you don't have to drive your car or if you do, not parking fee. So, now staying onsite is less expensive then staying offsite, if you eat in the parks. It just depends on how you do your trip.

Even staying in a $50/night hotel is going to cost you about more then that with parking charges and gas (which can add up at $2.20+/gallon). Just trying to show things a different way.

If I went to Disney a lot, I would not hesitate to stay off-site. The Downtown Disney hotels are the best deal at Disney for their location and that you can take advantage of the Disney transportation and EMH.

There are some specials on this board and mousesavers.com for $89/night at a hotel that has a good breakfast included in the price. Something else to look at when pricing hotels. A free breakfast might be worth an extra $20/night.

hey I own DVC - I stay onsite alot.

but if you are on a budget you can't afford to stay onsite - unless WDW is running one of their code deals.

they aren't.

offsite restuarants are generally cheaper. I was very upset by the Denny's on US 192 - they were charging WDW prices.... but other places in the same area are more reasonable.

I have a problem with eating out - food allergies - that is why I brought DVC in the first place.

most people who stay offsite - will eat offsite - except for lunch and that is generally counter service.

I love onsite and offsite. This year in Sept we are staying offsite - the entire time - I might go crazy. It is budget reason plus bringing a pet. Offsite has places that allow you to kept your pet with you - WDW doesn't.

there a plenty of reason to stay offsite - also plenty of reason to stay on site.

you need to read
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=790960

I don't know what you get to pay - but in the South we don't get paid alot.

I stayed at Quality Inn Maingate West 2 weeks ago thru priceline. It was clean and very convenient. It did have a continental breakfast (toast, donuts, cereal, mini muffins, nothing outstanding but free). Coffee pot in the room, no fridge. I was in the back and I could see the disney fireworks from the window. No complaints.

hey for the price that hotel is now at (I think $35) on easyclick - that sounds like a good bargin.

check the other sites and make sure that this one is the cheapest before you commit.

There is a "resort" fee. It is about $2 a night, no biggie. I think it's mainly for use of the in-room safe. You get coffee refill pkgs daily too. No newspaper.
And if you exit out the back parking lot gate, turn right onto Black Lake Rd and that takes you to Sherbeth Rd. Sherbeth Rd is the back way into Disney, gets you to Animal Kingdom in 5 minutes. But keep in mind, if you return to the hotel after 10pm that back gate is locked so you have to use the 192 entrance.

:jester: Shirley you jest, I thought oh, another motel site......

But.......

:thewave:

those prices are too good to believe!!!!

Now, to just pick one!!!!!!

yes, easyclick did have it for 30

I was just going to look on the map to see how easy it was to get in and out of WDW. Thats funny that you posted the ak directions.

Me too, the LaQuinta Inns are all over the midwest. They're very clean and nice hotels, about on par with a Marriot Courtyard hotels. Nothing spectacular, but pleasantly nice and very clean. More than what you'll need for a vacation.

I've also stayed at La Quinta Lakeside. It's right next to Quality Inn Maingate West (with a lake in between). It's also a comfortable, clean place to stay. They have fridges in the room. Though they back up to Black Lake Rd, there is no back exit from the parking lot. But there is a red light to turn into the motel from 192 so it's easy to get out and head east toward WDW. Then you go 1 stoplight to turn onto Sherbeth Rd if you want the back entrance to Disney. They also have a "resort fee", of $3.50/day and includes morning paper. But no continental breakfast there (at least not when I stayed there last year).

I have stayed at the La Quinta Lakeside and found it to be a clean place with a friendly staff. In December we had a free continental breakfast too. I just looked up your dates, and I found a rate of $49/night there with the LMD promo code. I figured out that you can use this code not just for the upcoming weekends, but for dates further out. It's a "Last Minute Deal" promo that they have (La Quinta hotels), and it's really a great deal if it shows up for your dates. The availability I found was for 2 double beds, smoking or non-smoking. Good deal for this location. I think you can also get this price through the Orlando Magic Card program.
