Looking for Oceanfront Resort not far from Disney

I've decided that I want to end my 6 day trip to Disney with a day and overnight at the beach. I would love to find a resort that is located directly on a beach (don't care which one) and located within 30 minutes drive away -- if possible.

Would love to hear the crashing waves from my room. Looks like Huntington Beach isn't a good choice. What about Radundo? Newport? Somewhere else?

Well, I was going to suggest the Hyatt or the Hilton in Huntington Beach but it is across the street from the beach. The beach is state and city owned. You might try Laguna Beach which would be within 30 mins. I think there's one called the Surf and Sand. Not really sure of the name. Never stayed there, only dined there once. Not even sure if the windows open up to the beach but it was on the sand. Don't be surprised if the room rates are $300/nt or higher if you're booking in the summer. You might even find those rates in the spring and fall.

In Newport, you can get a room by the harbor but not on the beach. Redondo would put you further than 30 mins. away with normal traffic and I'm not even sure if there are any on the beach.

I've stayed at the Hilton on Huntington Beach. Yes the beach is across the street but it is a short walk. Great pool and a beautiful hotel. Service is top notch.

JC...we are also ending our upcoming DL trip on the beach :sunny: . After a lot of research :badpc: we chose the Inn at Laguna Beach. It's right on the ocean at Main Beach in Laguna. We are looking forward to some rest after 5 days of non-stop fun with ::MickeyMo Good luck in your search.

We stayed at the Hyatt Huntington Beach last August for 5 nights. I would go back in a heartbeat. You couldn't hear the waves from the room though.

We've also stayed at the Surf and Sand in Laguna Beach. You could hear the waves there.

We are staying at the Hyatt Newporter in Newport Beach, 30 minutes from Disney and heard a lot of good reviews.

We'll be staying at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach after our Disney trip, too - if you wouldn't mind, can you give me a review when you get back? How far to the ocean, how big are the rooms, ya know . . . .

Thanks much!

thanks for the great tips so far. Looks like neither recommendation in Laguna Beach is available for my date, at least, not for less than $700 a night!!!

Maybe I'll have to be content with the "view" of waves rather than the "sound" of waves.

How did the rest of you decide which beach to stay at?

What did you enjoy doing there? surf? shop? lay out? watersports?

Never really spent a day at the beach, just sounds like fun!

Holy smokes! I thought I might be on the low side when I said it would be $300+ a night but not $400.00 low! Hate to see what the Ritz-Carlton and The Montage are asking.
