Looking for Nov 9th ~ 7 Day Western Magic Cruisers!

OK, here we go. 500 is the challenge. When is the deadline? Also I propose a secondary challenge at the First invitational Last man (or woman) standing contest. (Please folks, now let's be honest about this...) The person or persons with the deepest snow BEFORE leaving for the cruise buys a round. Not Boise got 10 inches on 11-9 or NJ had six inches Friday AM before the cruise. The day you leave for Fla. Gotta go folks. There are persons in need of cutting. TTYL Wes

Is it too late to join this?

So, some of us are slow! I just found DIS last weekend and have trying to read all the posts since this started. We're very excited about the 11/9 cruise, almost-but-not-quite first-timers. There are four of us - my DH (took me awhile to figure out the abbreviations), my DD (16) and my niece (14)(does that make her my DN?).

We're long-time DVC members and I can make a pretty mean Cosmo myself!

Looking forward to meeting all y'all nice folks!

Gosh I hope I did this right!

Welcome Kabuli 1 it is never to late to join the fun.
Whew our forecast is no longer mentioning snow. OK Wes I pray I don't win that one .I hate snow and cold.
Toni

Hey guys, did not mean to abandon the thread. I was on the road Sunday til last night. In co co cold Cleveland. It is not much better here in the DC metro area. cold and rainy:(

But that will make us appreciate the WARM SUNNY Florida/Caribbean weather :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Welcome to the newcomers, To be honest I have been rereading the posts since we (Sher)started this thread. It has potential for a script:p

Any way, keep the posts comming we will make 500 or bust.

Or bust what? Do I smell another challenge??? Poster Number 500 can buy a round of cosmos or better yet get one bought for him or her.
I, like everyone else, am REALLY looking forward to this cruise. This board has yielded a nucleus of terrific, fun-loving people and Debbie and I can't wait to meet all of you. But I have one question, do we return our life vests prior to the ESPN or after? We love to be up on deck 10 over the bridge as we sail down the channel, but we don't want to miss anybody at the ESPN rendezvous. Wes:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Hey Wes as a newby Dis cruiser I will defer to the experts. I was thinking that I would probably carry the life jackets back to the room for my troop, and meet up some where. I know my girls will want to get into the character action at the sailaway party, (Dad will too). Sooo...

Guess we will wing it

Suggestions?

Hi all,
Wow, glad we found this board. My DW, DD 15, DS 3 and myself will be also on the Nov. 9th Western. Although we are not new to Disney (MK '72 , DVC '92 etc.) this will be our first cruise of any kind. We can't think of any better way to start then with Mickey and friends. this board has been fantastic in helping up plan!

Rob

Hey Rob, welcome aboard to you and your family. As you may have seen there are several teens in our group so I am sure your DD will have a blast.
In case you have not considered it yet, we have our DS 14 signed up for the teen only cruise in Cozumel and the teen excursion on castaway Cay.
Just an idea. See you in about 9 days :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Hi Bob,
thanks, if it's not too late I'll bounce those off my DD. My DW and I would also like my DD to at least check out the teen club on board, can't remember the name offhand.

The teen club is the Common Grounds. My kids liked it. The teen cruises are good too. If you can swing it (You may be able to call the excursion desk today) sign them up. But there are a full spectrum of teens from 13 to 17.
From the time the all clear is given on the safety drill and the time the ship actually casts off is only about half an hour or so. So we'll have to scoot. If we don't all meet up we may need to set a second meeting place like the promanade lounge at about ten or so Saturday night.
Debbie and I have cruises 7 days 3 times and 4 day twice so we are pretty knowledgable. Anybody have any last minute questions, especially all you newbies out there, let us know.

Closing in on 500!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Wes

OK Wes sounds like a plan.

Rob, as Wes said the sooner the better on the call to sign up for the teen excursions. I heard that they sometimes sell out. It is $35.00 for each if I recall. I figured worst case they(I) pay and change their minds.

Promenade lounge sounds like fun. I figured that Saturday night would be a good bar hop night to scope them all out.

The come Sunday we can all go to Louie's back yard in Key West for a Bloody Mary:smooth:

Bob, don't miss the sailaway party at the goofy (Midships) pool. Its a hoot. Therefore if you don't make the ESPN meet we'll understand. We should all try to meet up later perhaps as I mentioned earlier at the promanade or Signals by the Quiet Cove (adult or forward) pool. We should set a time. That doesn't necassarily need to be the Last Man Standing meeting, tho. We should plan for that one.:p

Cold and dreary here in So Central Pa. The meeting in Georgia is off so I'm not sure when we will leave but the last thing we do before we put the alarm onthe house will be to check the board one more time. I have a cell modem on my laptop and will keep in touch after we depart but it is v e r y s l o w.

Lastly, some advise for any of you taking digital camera esp if new or jewelry, esp if new or lap tops. Check with customs at the port and make sure they sign off on it before you board. Or else take a proof of purchase. That way there's no hassle getting back into the US of A and being told you have to pay duty because customs can't tell where you bought it or when and they will charge you. We did this in June and it took all of five minutes to get them to check things for you. It may not happen to you but I've heard stories....

Hugs and kisses, Wes.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I have my girls - DD(16) and DN? (14) signed up for the teen cruise - just worried that we will be back in time from visiting the ruins.

Thanks for the advise about the camera - that is one thing I need to buy so I'll be sure to bring my receipt with me.

Hey Wes that is an excellent suggestion. Is there a customs desk near checkin at the port? I'm not taking the lap top but do have a digital camera.

Have a safe trip down. I'll be monitoring the posts through next Thursday. Safe travels.

Hey Patty, hows work???

Don't teens always rule? DD (16) is my third (and only princess)! I'm just glad there will be other teens on the cruise - she insisted we take her cousin so she wouldn't be "all alone!" She can be so dramatic. (The boys were so much easier)

Bob,
There is a form on the customs web site, I have it at home and when I get home I will find it and post it. What we did was put all my jewelry, watches, computers, digital cameras, video cameras, etc. on there. When we got to the port we asked to see a customs agent. It was really funny because 5 of them came walking through the atrium like the gunfight at the ok corral. It was amusing. They were really nice though but everyone looked at us like we did something wrong! We felt much more confident going through customs with that form.
