This is JUST FOR YOU.....
Philosophy 101
Having once been a teacher----this caught my eye---I thought it may be of interest----A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items on a table in front of him ......When the class began, without any explanation, he picked up a large glass jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks about 2" in diameter.......He than asked the students if they thought the jar was full????????? Of course they agreed that yes it was full......So the professor than picked up a box of small pebbles---poured them into the jar---shook the jar lightly....The pebbles. of course, rolled into the small openings between the larger rocks..............He than asked the same question-------Is the jar now full??????? Once again they responded that "yes the jar was now full"........The professor than picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.........Of course the sand filled up the tiny spaces left between the rocks and pebbles....Again, the response from the students was "yes, the jar was now full".............The professor than picked up a beer can that he had under the table and poured the contents into the jar......filling the empty spaces between the grains of sand......When the laughter from the students subsided, the professor said----Now, I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life...........1. The rocks are the important things-----your family--your partner--your health--your children---things that if everything else in your life were lost and only they remained, your life would still be full----------------The pebbles are the other things in your life that matter like your job--your house--your car...etc...........The sand is everything else---THE SMALL STUFF.......If you were to put the sand in the jar first, there would be no room for the rocks and pebbles........The same goes for your life...If you were to spend all your time and energy on the SMALL STUff, you will never have room in your life for the REALLY IMPORTANT THINGS....... PAY ATTENTION TO THE THINGS THAT ARE CRITICAL TO YOUR HAPPINESS............There will always be time to go to work---clean the house--give/go to parties---fix the disposal---etc.....Take care of the ROCKS FIRST----the things that really matter...Set your priorities------The rest is just sand............................................One of the students raised her hand and with a little shy look, asked---"What did the beer represent"??????? Thr professor smiled and said--"I'm glad you asked that question----It just goes to show that no matter how full your life may be----
