looking for nice waste cans/receptacles

This would be for the TV room and living room and dining room. I got a metal closed umbrella stand for another room and like it but the sharp edges don't allow an inner liner-it cuts the plastic to shreds. I have Longaberger small wastebaskets in the bedrooms and stainless for the bathrooms. I guess I'm looking for something more than colored plastic or baskets. Anyone got a creative idea for something medium sized that would work? My house is leaning toward mid-century and I think waste cans were ugly plastic back then; not liking that.

I guess I have never put a waste can in either of these rooms. We just use the one in the kitchen. What about a clothes hamper with a lid. You can find them in all sorts of materials-baskets, metal, plastic, etc.

Yeah I know but I have tons of teenaged boys around and if there is no can within a 2 pt range, it goes someplace weird, like between cushions, under the table, right on the floor or on a table. I'm trying to neaten up without constantly cleaning or nagging. I also do not want ugly plastic all over my house. I just don't like plastic. I'm looking for wood or pretty metal or even leather. A friend has a really nice leather one in her living room but has had it for so long she doesn't know of a source.
