Need to buy some new suitcases and I've narrowed it down to 2 kinds. We normally always go for Samsonite, but that's out of our budget at the moment. I was wondering if anyone has either of them and would care to let me know if they are any good

choice 1

choice 2

ETA: only want hardcases, 4 wheels and no zips

sorry cant help wth those but we have tripp luggage and they have been great. We got them from debenhams and they always have some in the sale on the website

They both look very nice......I wish I had the kind of Budget...

We've just brought Tripp luggage from Debenhams they seem v.good quality.

We too also buy Samsonite hard sided suitcases and we had to get a new smaller one at the weekend. We got one from John Lewis as they had a sale on with some of the Samsonite cases.

It appears the two you linked to are Samsonite but just a different range. The American Tourister always looks good to me.

Claire ;)

We have had carlton cases for years and they have stood up to many flights accross the atlantic ;)

Try ebay - we bought a brand new case on there this year for a lot less than in the shops :)

We have a hard case no zips and 4 wheels

even better its Disney :D

I have not got either case but they are from a good makes so either would be fine. I would go for the one which is the lighter so you can pack/buy more clothes, etc.

hiya

we have tripp luggage which we are going to have to re new this year

we the hard ones do they weigh more? and do you find they hold less, always looking for options

Our hard bodied cases did weigh more than the fabric ones. A couple of year's ago we abandoned the Samsonite cases in favour of the lighter ones with long handles. The fabric ones are also easier to fit into the boots of the hire cars, in our case.

We got a set of cheap Matalan specials and have survived 5 visits to WDW and still going strong.
The way the baggage handlers 'process' the cargo, I am reluctant to pay expensive for them to be damaged.
I would love to fill one with house bricks and see how far they throw that :lmao::lmao::lmao:

When it was just DH and I travelling we only ever bought Samonite hard cases with four wheels as they manouvere so well.
Now there is four of us, DH manages the luggage and I manage the girls so for all the reasons others have listed (price, size vs. weight etc) we have bought Tripp luggage as we have more to carry etc. There's no doubt that the Tripp luggage (again, Debenhams) is strong but also very light. I'd give it my thumbs up, we have the plain black set from the cabin size suitcase all the way up to the large suitcases. It has done many trips and lasted well, I remember when I was a little girl "soft" suitcases were just that, most suitcase are either hard or semi-hard these days, I think the later seriously saves you weight:thumbsup2
I notice the second choice was a Carlton case. If it helps, my first hard case was a Carlton case (bought from Benetton around 17 years ago) with two wheels and the handle at the front. This case is still going strong, it is fairly scratched but if I go away with the girls on my own I still take this case, so it does get used.
