I'll bet once you have asked him and he says yes (can't imagine any other outcome) you will wonder why you worried so much about it. It sounds like he is a very straightforward guy who can make a decision quickly (those kind like to be talked to straight - face to face) so talk to him face to face, tell him it would mean a great deal to you if he would attend. I'll bet he will feel honored. I know I would if you were my daughter. Do it quickly so he has lots of time to plan.

One cat you are right on. HE's a very straight shooter and likes to handle all aspects of his business and live by that rule. He respects face to face contact and has no use to be called on the phone for important things other than business. I'll try to catch the right moment this week and i'll let you all know how it goes. I can't tell you what this push from all of you with encouragement you've all offered means to me. THanks so much.

I agree with what others have said about asking your Dad in private, stressing how important it is to you, etc.. I just wanted to add one thing though....

Over the years I have found myself in situations where I have had to ask a difficult questions and I would get sooooooo stressed out and fearful, it would literally make me physically ill.. But - without fail - even if the answer was not the one I had hoped for, I immediately felt 100% better - and then would sit there wondering why I allowed myself to be sick for weeks at a time while trying to gather the courage to simply ask the question..

Go ahead and ask your Dad - as soon as possible - and I guarantee that you'll feel so much better for having done it - even if you don't get the response you're hoping for.. Who knows? You may be pleasantly surprised and then you will have made yourself ill for nothing..
