Ok, our friends have an awesome RV...we don't!! We want to get a cabin and have their RV next to us AND we will have our 2 dogs with us. Is this possible? Are there many loops that can accomodate this? We are going in January and have not booked yet...will we have trouble at this late stage in the game?

You can see my my signature, I have stayed many places at WDW. Never stayed at FW and cannot WAIT to do so! Over the years, we have enjoyed the campfire/singalong several times, The Hoop De Doo (I was chosen the be the dancing saloon girl!) the petting zoo, the pony rides etc. I know what a special place FW is. So thrilled to finally have the chance to stay there. Please advise a WDW veteran/FW novice!:goodvibes

The Petting Zoo is gone. No pets in the cabins. There are a couple of places where cabins are adjacent to RV sites...in adjoining loops, not next door. Others can tell you where these are. Enjoy.

NO PETS IN CABINS????

I thought it was too good to be true! Ok, looks like we may have to rent an RV. I will look into that further...RVs are totally new to me...I have never camped in my life.

I know the PZ is gone, we were just there 2 months ago...I was just mentioning this we had done at FW over the past decade.

Thanks for the quick response! If dogs are not allowed in cabins, then this whole thread is kind of worthless. If anyone wants to give me suggestions of a decent priced RV rental place...please share! Would love to have our vehicle with us, tho...but not 100% necessary.

The RV Loop that is close to the cabins is Loop 1100 for RVs, then Loop 2100 for the cabins. Many of those sites back up to each other. If your friends are willing they could keep your puppies in their RV. That is allowed. They are NOT allowed in the cabins.

I know of three RV rental companies that will deliver a camper to your site for you and set it up, then come get it at the end of your trip.

They are:

www.makecampingeasy.com
www.campatthefort.com
www.myrvhotelroom.com

The first two have great reviews and are personal friends of many on this board, the third one, have only seen the website.

However, I DON'T know if they even allow pets.

Welcome to the camping boards!

I thought that maybe you were asking about having a camping site close to the cabins because you wanted to keep the dogs at the campsite.

But, it's true- no dogs in the cabins.

The best set up to have a cabin close to a campsite would be to have a cabin in the 2100 loop and a campsite in the 1100 loop. There are several cabins that back right up to campsites there. But, the 1100 loop is not a pet loop-so that wouldn't work anyway.

I know that there are RV rental companies which will allow you to have pets-but I can't tell you who. Keep looking- you will find one.

Good luck!

I hope you enjoy your first experience in camping. You will likely be spoiled for other campgrounds, but we think the Fort is a great place to visit (or live there) with the proximity to the parks, amenities of the Fort, and the laid back feel of the space. We love it!

You may have trouble with reservations depending on when you plan to come. I believe it's the MLK weekend that is the busiest, but again, others will have to confirm that. We come tomorrow...see ticker...and had to book a year ago.

We were in loop 100 two years ago. There were a couple of cabins across from our site. We were in 119. I think 118 and 120 are cabins.

Loop 100 is not a pet loop though.

The cabins in loop 100 can NOT be requested and are "VERY RARELY" given out to regular guests. They are reserved for VIPs.

Didn't know that. The people going in and out the week we were there, looked pretty much like "regular guests". Who'd a thought? :confused3
I should have asked them how/why they were VIPs. Maybe next trip.

Sometimes "us regular folks" get assigned to the 100 cabins if they're not in use by VIPs. But it's totally luck of the draw.

1) The VIP's do not have to be famous.
2) There are three levels of VIP's (yep - Level-I, Level-II, Level-III)
3) Each has different qualifications.
4) And, one would be so surprised to learn how easy it is to become one.
