Looking for Information from the 5 Night Wonder in San Diego

Thanks for the additional info, Saamh. Did you get the sense that the "feel" was different because the West Coast cruises are less frequent for the SoCal residents and they were trying to pack everything in while they could? All of our previous DCL cruises have departed from ports on the East Coast, so your post has me looking forward to seeing how a West Coast cruise might be different even while on the ship.

The teen/tween dynamic also is interesting. We've never had major issues with teens/tweens (maybe a few minor things, but nothing worth mentioning), but I'm curious to see whether that also carries over to the other San Diego cruises or if it's just something that comes up sometimes on cruises. Did you notice whether the number of kids on board was similar to your other 9 cruises, or were there more or fewer than you've seen before?

Our most recent 2 cruises were the EBTA and the 12night Med (2014) so there were definitely more kids on this one than those 2 but the amount of kids out of San Diego was comparable to the Carib and Bahamas sailings out of PC and Galveston. There were several large parties on our sailing (11 staterooms linked and another with over 50 family members traveling together). Someone mentioned that perhaps because a bunch of the kids already knew each other this created different behavior than a typical cruise where most kids are learning about each other.

I definitely think the limited S. Cal sailings (and the fact they aren't doing them in 2016) created the sense of "we must do everything because we may never have this opportunity again". I enjoyed the cruise and hope all the negative feedback DCL is going to receive from some very vocal people in our meet group doesn't dissuade Disney from west coast sailings in the future.

As a side note, quite a few who have posted about their DCL excursions were not impressed. They felt they were overpriced and didn't live up to the description.
