I am hosting a baby shower for my niece in a couple of weeks and was looking for cute ideas for games, food, etc.

Hello!

I just had a baby shower a few months ago for my sister in law; here is what we did.

We did finger-foods; fruit kabobs with a fluffy dipping sauce, carrots and celery, pink cupcakes (since she was having a girl) and then cucumber sandwiches. We served a few varieties of Crystal Light for drinks.

For games, we did 2. The first game was more of something to do when people were arriving - we put some pink jelly beans into a bottle and had the guests guess how many beans were in the bottle. The second game, played during the shower itself, was Guess the Baby Food. We got 6 or 8 different kinds and colors of baby food, then took off the labels and passed around the jars. The person that guessed the most right won a prize.

Hope that helps! Have a fun shower!

I'm not a big fan of party games, but at my sil's shower her sister set up this game that I really got into, and I won

She had listed a baby item for each letter of the alphabet on a card and shuffled up the deck. When she called out the letter everyone would yell out an item that started with that letter and the person/people that got it would get a point. I've never seen a group of women get so competitive

For my baby shower we had boo-boo bunnies as favors.

We also had a diaper raffle with a really great prize for the winner. I got TONS of diapers. My baby is 4 months old and we just now bought the first pack of diapers out of pocket. That's really the only game we played, we're not too into the game thing.

Another thing that was cute is the onesies I made with the baby's name on it. You could do it if they have a name picked out already.

Have a good time!

I'm planning a shower for SIL

currently our menu is small finger sandwiches and a few salads
lots of dips (hummus, cucumber, spinach, etc etc)
also doing cupcakes

Games (ugh) aside from the dreaded bingo
we are doing the don’t say "baby" everyone starts with a pacifier lanyard
and if you say baby you have to give it up
Also as a non game we are doing a napkin prize
all the party napkins are folded like diapers (who thinks of this stuff) but
one has a sticker on the inside (dirty diaper)...who ever gets it wins

My mother is pushing for one more game…but we will see

I hosted a baby shower a few months ago. It was a couples shower so I didn't want to do games that were too girlie.

The biggest hit was not a game but an activity.

I bought a pack of size one diapers (they don't stay in newborn too long). I put them in a basket with some sharpie markers and asked that the guests write funny or cute sayings on them. So, when the parents are changing diapers at 2am, they had something funny to read.

Everyone really got into it. At the end of the party, we read them out loud and there were some really funny ones.

I was just at a shower this weekend. They had a piece of paper with the mother-to-be's full name printed at the top & we all had to come up with as many words as we could out of those letters. It was pretty funny how people were challenging other people's words!

They also had a kitchen timer, and while the mother-to-be was opening gifts, when the timer went off, whoever's gift she was opening won a prize.

These are all great ideas for games - I'm hosting a baby shower in 2 weeks myself so I'll be saving this thread for myself!

I held a baby shower for one of my nieces this weekend.. I found a cute baby bottle bank at Party City and filled it with jelly beans.. the one who guessed closest won it.. Then we did the poopy diaper game and the baby food eating contest..

I will be hosting another shower in 2 months for my other niece so I will use some of these other ones as I dont want to do any of the same things as most of the same people will be there..

One game we used to use was identifying baby related items in an advertisement from a magazine. Parent's Magazine should have lots of ads to cut out & number, making a master list of what item is which number. Some items could be Pampers disposables, Curity cloth diapers, Healthtex clothing, Carter clothing, Johnson & Johnson bath items, etc.

Another is rather silly but fun. You take 2 very large bowls; in 1 you pile in lots of cotton balls. Hand 1 person a large spoon such as a serving spoon, blindfold her/him & have them scoop the cotton balls into the empty bowl keeping their free hand behind their back.

Another fun one is making a huge long list of what a woman might have in her purse. Scissors, staples, lipstick, keys, thumb tacks, a utility bill & the list can go on & on.

This one will tax memories. Have a tray full of assorted baby stuff--bottle, pacifier, tee shirt, rattle, jar of baby food, etc. This tray can be sitting where everyone will see it & exclaim over what's on it. Later, when the hostess decides, put the tray away; hand everyone a piece of paper & pencil. Ask them to write down the items that were on the tray.

All the ideas so far are great; too bad my babyshower invites are long over. Have a good time!!!

Oh, one more idea. Not sure if anyone mentioned it. Pass around a ball of string & ask everyone to pull of a length they think measures the Mom-to-be's waistline.
