I say since it was a breast cancer, go BIG, like Dolly Pardon big. Give the guest of honor a rack the size of Texas...would be a great way to kick the party off. Also, try a pink menu...umm pink (breast)cake or cupcakes, pink ambrosia salad, salmon, cotton candy, pink mints, a nice fruity pink drink, maybe some type of mimosa. The breast theme might be too far out for you, but I had a friend who threw a similar party for a family member and it was actually so much fun. All the women were told in the invitation to wear a pretty bra and be prepared to show them off. Of course the GOH at this party had just completed reconstructive surgery and couldn;t wait to show them off, so to speak. So all the women "showed them off" at the same time in a show of solidarity.
A very nice gift idea might be a special scrapbook. Have friends and family write a letter or note to the GOH telling her how special she is and how glad they are that she's still with you.
Invite her dr or some of her nurses who helped her through such a difficult time. My aunt's a nurse and they just looove seeing their patients later when they are healthy.
And of course, maybe you could ask everyone to donate to a breast cancer charity, on her behalf or take a collection at the party. Honor her with a donation.
I hope ya'll throw a great party and enjoy it immensely!
