I need to use the power of the hive mind, crowd sourcing information. I'm hoping this thread is allowed to stay open to help not just myself but others who might be caught short looking for safe alternatives.

I'm not wanting this thread to veer into politics so please don't go down that road. I'm also not looking for health advice, I'm working under the direction of multiple medical professionals and trust what they are telling me. I deal with numerous dietary restrictions, several life-threatening allergies and a couple of other health issues that are managed thru diet.

I need to find a couple of safe-to-me foods that are produced in Canada to replace the ones I currently buy that come from the USA

Corn tortilla chips : can only have 3 ingredients - corn, vegetable oil (preferably sunflower but most are ok) & salt - might have water listed as well, that's ok. I can't find any that don't have hydrated lime or Calcium Hydroxide, neither of which are safe for me **** Corn MASA flour is NOT safe - they use lime to process it

A corn cereal: again, corn and not much else. Honey, sugar, salt are ok.

I'm struggling here, so many of my safe go-to foods are now on our don't buy list but those 2 are a BIG part of my diet because they travel safely for when I'm caught out of the house without access to a kitchen.

Sadly it was these chips that alerted us to the fact that Corn MASA flour is not the same as plain old corn flour and I'm not able to tolerate it because they use lime to process it :(
The cereal is out because of the barley - one of my big triggers

I will keep my eyes open for you, I love a good shopping challenge.
Thank you! We've spent hours over the past month and it's so frustrating.
https://www.chex.com/products Try Corn Chex. You could try corn bread too. I have a good recipe if you want it.
That's what I currently eat but want to find an alternative that's made in Canada if at all possible.

I have lots of recipes, have to make about 90% of my food from scratch, I'm just trying to keep a few things on hand that i can grab when I'm short on time or get invited out. It's hard to find decent recipes when there are no safe grains other than corn.

Do you have a World Market or an International food section in your supermarket? Look for Irish / UK or European snacks, as they will have very different ingredients due to artificial flavours, colours and preservatives being banned by UK / EU food regulations.

Do you have an Irish Bar in your area? They import Irish snacks such as potato chips which are called crisps in Europe.

Try Bulk Barn, they sell cereal and they list all the ingredients too.
