Last year I got some nice cookware that was much better than the cheap stuff I had made do with...
So nice!
Now I am starting to think I really need some great knives.

My old Walnut Handle Chicago Cutlery are all very dull... and I am wanting something better.

I got my cookware from Williams Sonoma, so that is where I have started looking.

Does anyone here have any good recommendations?

Just to start, I am looking at the Wusthof Classic.
Not their cheaper ones, but most of the quality in their more expensive lines.

Any thoughts would help!

I have Wusthof Classic and think it's great quality. I started off with the Santoku (sp.?) knife, then went on to buy steak knives.

My dad and brothers love Wusthof. I love my Cutco knives.

My other half is very happy with Wusthof Classic. We also have one Wusthof Gourmet, but they're all very good.

Ugg - I hate mine. They cost a bleeping fortune (through an MLM scheme) and it's infuriating how I've had to hound them to honour the life-time sharpening service agreement. :furious:

We have some Wusthof, and some Henckels, and are happy with both.

I have 9 or 10 Wustof Classic knives. Favorites are the 10" chef's knife and the tomato knife.

We love our Cutco and have never had a problem with the lifetime sharpening. Actually, we just inherited a set of Cutco that was purchased in 1962 and we sent them in and they called us a few days later to explain to us how old they were and were surprised to see them. They replaced one free of charge as it couldn't be sharpened any more and sharpened all the rest and had them back in about 12 days. I would call and talk to the regional manager in your area or the customer service number.

Love my Cutco as well! We've had a them a long time and they hold up great. When I need them sharpened, I make a call and they come out (some need to be sent in). I had one paring knife and somehow the tip broke and they replaced it no questions asked. I highly recommend them!

We have a nice Wusthof set. Came with a sharpening tool. Don't buy any "celebrity chef" crap.

Another vote for Wusthof. As long as you take care of them properly they last forever.

That is funny!!!
I stock up on carrots too.
The longer they stay in that drawer, the riper and sweeter and more orange they get!
Have to say, I've never found that the sand would be necessary. Hahahaha!
