Looking for a good place to have food while inside dhs - qs and ts both options, any recommendations? If it makes a difference 2 disney adults, l.ove characters - but don;t watch dis jr.

Hollywood Brown Derby is our default TS @ HS. We rarely book ADRs since discovering the lounge and basically the entire restaurant menu is available.

For QS in a/c comfort, there’s always ABC Commissary. The roast chicken is pretty decent.

Have fun.

Seconding ABC Commissary

Our favorite quick service is Woody's Lunchbox, if it isn't too hot to eat outside. For indoor seating I'd choose either Docking Bay or ABC Commissary. Epic Eats has, IMO, the best funnel cakes in all the parks, if you're looking for a shareable snack.

Hollywood and Vine has characters - Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto. It is a buffet, and we thought it quite good when we went earlier this month. Brown Derby is a favorite as well, and if you prefer traditional table service, maybe the way to go.

Note that the Mickey characters are Disney Jr leaning… it will be a younger skewing clientele so be prepared for lots of noise.

Brown Derby is always a great choice. For QS we really like Ronto Roasters in Galaxy's Edge.

While not 'high end' or signature dining, I always find the food at Prime Time Cafe to be good comfort food and served plentiful. I love hitting a lot of signature dining spots when I go to Disney, and regularly dine at Jiko, Yachtsman, Steakhouse 71, California Grill, etc - but I sometimes just like regular comfort food like Prime Time or Liberty Tree (I also have a long-time family connection to Prime Time as my aunt was one of the 'grandma' hostesses there for 20 years).

Baseline is good for the shareable big pretzels and a drink. Abc commissary has nice A/C. Not in the park, but a short Skyliner trip - a later breakfast at Topolino’s is a great character dining spot. They come to your table so not dealing with a buffet and super tons of kids.

Sci Fi has the coolest theming ever. The Brown Derby has better food, but it's been a while since we've been. Mostly because we love the Sci Fi vibe so much.
We also like tot-chos as a snack at Woody's.

I think these days I like Docking Bay 7 in Galaxy's Edge the most at HS. The falafel & hummus is really good! ABC Comissary is also a solid choice.

Sci fi is great theming but regular food. My wife likes them because they have a milk shake that is lactose free and tastes like a legit milk shake

Brown derby is nice if you want a fancy feel. Both times we've done them we've enjoyed them.

Docking Bay 7/ the roaster in Galaxy edge is awesome for breakfast. they do a breakfast Ronto wrap that is my go to on HS days.

Woody's lunch box is good for all ages for quick food. nothing beats a grilled cheese and tomato soup at times.

50's prime time is one of my favorites. ALL of the food is good and the sampler is worth getting. Wife and I will get an appetizer and that and split both and will be fine with just how heavy the food can be.

We will be trying the toy story BBQ place this trip so hoping it's at least fun if not delicious.

Regrettably and some will think I'm weird but Mama Melrose was my favorite in HS. I never had a dish that wasn't good there. Sad it's now closed.

I just commented on your other DHS day thread. I'm glad you're looking at possible places within DHS itself. Midday in September is still hot (for me) so we look for indoor places with air conditioning. Both Docking Bay and ABC Commissary fit this requirement and we've had good meals at both.

Docking Bay's menu has interesting entree titles, but the descriptions ae easy to figure out. We've also stopped at Ronto Roasters to get a Ronto Wrap for one person in our family and then Docking Bay food for the ribs, braised beef, or the chicken.

ABC Commissary has good options as well.

Ronto Roasters is another favorite, but not air conditioned. I really like the breakfast Ronto Wrap, but it's only available until 11AM, but the regular Ronto Wrap is pretty good.

Next door to ABC is Sci-Fi Dine-in. Its TS, but if you enjoy bad 1950"s sci fi movies, it is a lot of fun. The menu is basic "drive-in" food.

We love going to HBD’s outdoor lounge. We grab cocktails, share a Cobb Salad and then share the Grapefruit Cake.

Another vote for Docking Bay 7 if you’re looking for something a little different.

I should have mentioned that HBD is already a given as I plan to go for the fantasmic pkg there.
So it's looking like ABC, Sci Fi Dine in (I know someone said the food is regular, but does it taste good?) and maybe 50s - can I ask them to forgo the "service"? With my autism I'm afraid I might have an issue differentiating between play rude and actual rude.

Sci Fi burger I'd give it a 6 or 7 out of 10. It doesn't taste bad at all. For me it's knowing there are other options around that are either better tasting or more unique. we went for the ambiance and experience and for that it's very worth it.

I bet if you said something to the server at 50's they would be fine. Last couple times I was there the service I got didn't feel 'extra' felt more like a normal service experience. maybe just operate under it's all play if you go there.

With all of this said if this is for the busy day you posted in another spot I would go QS (ronto, ABC, Backlot) and just save the time for everything else.

We enjoyed Woody’s lunch box and the Ronto Wraps (can’t remember if we got them at Ronto Roasters or Docking Bay) for quick service. I don’t recommend Backlot express. My mom and I both thought our meals there were very mid at best. She ended up tossing hers and getting pizza at Mama Melrose (RIP). For TS meals, we liked the burgers and appetizers at Sci-Fi plus the atmosphere was fun. We enjoyed the theming and atmosphere of Round Up Rodeo and thought the sides and salads were all excellent but the meats were just okay. We went before the changes to the side dishes and would go again just for the sides had they not changed them. Not sure the current price is worth it though. Maybe once for the theming because it is very fun.

We both thought Docking Bay was one of the better QS meals at Disney. And air conditioning! Definitely mobile order. CM at the door wouldn’t let us in until our food showed as ready, but CM who showed me where to park my ECV let us in to get water before food was ready.

No, neither DD nor I liked our food at SciFi. The burger had a funny flavor to it (she only at half of her burger), and the chicken salad was basic (so no grapes or nuts or anything) and just meh. I make better chicken salad at home. We also thought the onion rings were really greasy. The atmosphere is relaxing as it's dark-ish and cool, but we won't go again. Just didn't like the food.

We always struggle to find decent food at DHS. Backlot Express used to be good but we haven't been there in maybe 5 years. We like 50s Prime Time- food has always been good, even if it's a little "much" for a mid-day meal. We enjoyed Mama Melrose, but that's no longer an option. Next trip we are going to try Hollywood Brown Derby. I've never been thrilled by the menu but it's something new. I'd do Woody's BBQ but have heard it's not air conditioned, so it's not on the list of possibilities! Regardless of characters, we'd try Hollywood&Vine BUT have heard that it's chaotic and also messy. I guess too many little kids trying to serve themselves? I don't know. The "food court" over by Beauty and the Beast is just meh, also. We tried Docking Bay 7 one time but it was packed, and hard to find seating, but the food was decent so we'd give it another shot on another trip. As I said... we struggle to find good food at DHS and frequently just snack thru the day, do an early supper somewhere else (like Disney Springs), and go back to DHS for Fantasmic.
