My nephews are 12 and 9 and love games. I bought them Killer Bunnies and Ticket to Ride last year and they love them. But I need some suggestions. Any fun games you and your friends/kids like to play?

Quelf!

My nephew got this game for Christmas last year and we all played it. It was such a hoot we had to go out and buy it for ourselves.

It is aboslutely hilarious, and never the same game twice. It's a basic "move around the board and draw a card when you land on a space" kind of game, but the cards are so funny! One might say you have to talk like a pirate for the rest of the game, or you have to write a limerick about your arm pits.

These reviews say it better. :)

I also recomment anything Cranium, and Apples to Apples. But Quelf reigns supreme! :thumbsup2

These are some of the games I recommend to people:

Fluxx - a card game where the rules change every hand.

Small World (by Days of Wonder)
Shadows Over Camelot (also Days of Wonder)

Settlers of Cataan - start with the basic game, though you may want the expansion set (for players 5-6).

Roborally - great game, if you can find it. I think it is finally back in print.

Dread Pirate

Formula De is supposed to be pretty good, although it is pricey

I have one of the Carcassone (Hunters and Gatherers, I think), and while I have not gotten to play it, it looks fun.

LMK if you need more. I have some friends who are real board game buffs - I merely dabble.

Stratego,Risk,Life,Chess, and I forget the name but its a mystery game where they have to guess who did it, i.e. the professor in the library with the candlestick.
The all time favorite here are Star Wars Minifigures. They can play the game as created or create their own and will spend hours upon hours building armies, strategizing, and setting up battles. Its not something you see in the typical toy store but here is a link with some pictures http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Miniatures

Sounds like the last one is Clue.

I think WOTC stopped producing the Star Wars miniatures early this year. You should be able to find the more common figures fairly easily, but the prices will be going up, and most places that have them will probably be selling individual figures (eg, a Stormtrooper for $.50, but Boba Fett for $8).

If you go to a gaming store (not a toy store, but a store that stocks Dungeons & Dragons, or Warhammer, or Warmachine/Hordes, or Magic:the Gathering cards, etc), you will see a lot more variety. Chain toy stores aren't going to carry Ticket to Ride, but a game store will.

Jax makes several good games. Sequence and Kazink are two of them. Fast strategy games. Check reviews out on Amazon.
