Our family of 7 will be traveling to WDW in the middle of October. We will be staying off-site for six nights, and the on-site for four nights. We have seven day Park Hopper passes. The kids are ages 5, 9, and 11. We are coming from the west coast, so I'm thinking it's going to be hard to get up and to the parks very early. With EMH at most of the parks every morning, is it even worth it to try to rope drop anything while we're off-site? I'm looking for advice on when to schedule our FP+ for those off-site days. And just advice in general about how to make the most of the trip when we can't do EMH. I think it's very likely we'll do several hours at one park, take a break, and then go back at night (maybe to a different park).

Thanks!

ETA: Also trying to navigate MK around the Halloween Party. Best to avoid? Or is it typically less crowded on those days? Or more crowded?

We too are from the west coast but will be staying on site so we will suck it up and try for EEMH (although not until our 3rd morning).

If I were in your shoes, and you think your family can truly "sleep in", I'd sleep in during your non on site days, relax at your resort and schedule FP+ for mid afternoon at one of the parks, and then power through to park close time, or take a break for dinner and then hop somewhere else if you're up for it. Then when you are on site, definitely do the EEMH if you are able and hop at will with breaks at the resort.

I've heard MK is wonderful from rope drop until 3-4pm on party days so I'd definitely plan on visiting MK on a party day although I'd also hop there for a non party evening to enjoy the nighttime entertainment, perhaps during one of your first days when you are still on Pacific time.

have a great time- we will be there a couple of weeks after you.
