Looking for first hand review for DW during first week of October

Our family is taking our first trip to DW Oct. 2-8. I am giving myself fits worrying about the weather and crowd levels that week. Can someone who's been recently give me the low down? How bad were the ride waits? Was it really hot? Did you get a lot of rain?

I was in wdw in 2014 leaving oct 5. It was hot up to 90 with high 60s at night. The high didnt last long. It was extremely crowded and it rained about 6 hours almost every day but not at once, generally a noonish couple hours then a dinner couple hours.

It was one of my best trips though as it was our first nonsummer trip.

There was a lot of Florida residents staying and they said both rain and crowd was uncommon for that week. It was also frozen fever which has dipped down since 2014.

The rain and heat part really scares me. I'm wondering if we shouldn't push the trip back to the end of October. instead. I am trying so hard not to over think this and worry too much but we've never been and I'm a worrier

When you say extremely crowded, does that mean long lines for rides? How long did you have to wait for rides on average?

If your trying to plan around crowds, it's impossible the last couple years.. there is going to be a crowd no matter what week you pick to visit. This year has been lighter than previous years so far but lighter doesn't mean not crowded.

and yes, long lines everywhere like any other day.

I'll be there the 1st-7th and I personally can't wait. Fall is my favorite time of year and we love Halloween. We usually go in Feb. so I did a lot of researching about going in Oct. and I'm not the least bit concerned. Yes people say that Oct. is getting busier every year but compared to spring break, summer, and Christmas/New Year's crowds it looks good to me. It also helps that we are used to going around President's Day weekend and that's a pretty crowded time to go as well so Oct looks good compared to that. I say stick with your plan. If you are thinking about doing MNSSHP you may want to look at the dates and cost and then decide what's best for you. I think the end of Oct. the party price goes up.

We were there last October 4-10 and it was hot and crowded. We usually go in December, but we wanted to see the Halloween decorations and coordinate with fall break for my nieces school. It was hot and humid during the day (nicer at night) and very crowded. Even with fastpasses we were waiting in significant lines. The decorations were neat and I'm sure the crowds were no big deal when compared to summer, but we are used to the lower crowd level times. Of course, a hot and crowded day at Disney is better than one at home, right!

I don't know about the first week in October, but we have been to WDW at the end of October, and the weather and crowd levels were perfect! The humidity was lower. We were there for my daughter's wedding, and on that day it rained just as they were in the carriage to the chapel, which was sad for them, but it cleared up quickly. It was the only rain we saw the whole 10 days we were there. The crowds were much lighter than other times we have been there. It was a wonderful trip. October is the best! Early December is also amazing. Enjoy!!

We were there for the week before Columbus Day in 2013 and it was fine. Went to MNSSHP on our last night (a Friday) and the crowds were not nearly so awful as people said, we trick or treated with hardly any waiting (the lines move fast) and rode the carousel and watched the parade/fireworks but mostly people watched and had a blast. Had a thunderstorm our first day as we were waiting for the bus to MK (late afternoon arrival) and it POURED for about an hour and then it was fine. I think it was mostly lower 90's during the day but I don't recall it being particularly unbearable. We had a 4 year old and a 10 month old so left the parks around 2pm to swim/rest before early dinner. The crowds were fine and we rarely waited in line for anything, I think the worst was probably BTMRR (which will be closed this time around, sigh) and Soarin with wait times of 45 minutes or so, but we made liberal use of baby swap and that helped a ton. This was before FP+.

We are going again October 1-8 and we scheduled our MK days for MNSSHP nights, because the end of the MSEP on the 8th means that I think the MK crowds will be super heavy on days that aren't party nights. We are also leaving the Saturday of Columbus Day weekend, which is supposed to be INSANE crowd levels, so I think we are missing a lot of it.

Just have cooling towels/misting fans, take lots of breaks, and use the crowd calendars and Fastpasses and you will be fine. One thing that helped us was not worrying about hitting EVERYTHING. We actually did a ton of planning on Touring Plans but sort of threw those out the window once we got there, and just used the wait times as guides for where to go next. This year I'm a little annoyed at the FP+ "overscheduled" feeling but we basically agreed, if we miss one because we are having fun elsewhere, no sweat.
