We currently own at GFV. We are contemplating adding on more points on at GFV -OR- buying a new set of points at PVB. Having never stayed at PVB, I am looking for some feedback. Pros/Cons? Looking for opinions on the noise and views. Thank you!

PVB is all studios and ridiculously overpriced bungalows. If that meets your needs, consider purchasing a fixed-week contract.

I really like it there... enough to betray my home resorts (bwv and BLT). That being said, the noise insulation in the rooms are not very good. Bring a white noise machine. The views are ok... I just like the resort and ambience.

IMO you should ALWAYS stay at all of the resorts before buying.

In the OP'S case I would suggest buying an Epcot resort and switch stays every other year. Do MK/AK one year and Epcot/DHS the next.

Poly is a very nice resort. We enjoyed it very much. But we need 1 and 2 bedrooms from time to time so we don't want to own there.

I love PVB, but wouldn't pay $168 a point. For now, it is readily available. I like to own "cheap" SSR points and then higher priced "premium" points (BLT, BCV). I book my premium resort at 11 months and try to switch to somewhere else using my cheap points at 7 months. If poly ever starts to become unavailable at 7 months often, then I might consider buying there. I just don't see much need to now unless you HAVE to stay there every single time and you have VERY specific dates to go (xmas, easter, etc)

I don't think I have ever recommended one needs to stay at a resort before buying but for PVB I would - especially if the other option is VGF. I'd also wonder about a resort in a different area (like Epcot) since you're not considering PVB because you know you love it and have already stayed there for years and have to continue to. I also think PVB will remain a resort that can be booked at 7 months though.

The Poly is my hands down favorite report at Disney. I would NOT buy there.

Since it is all Studios, and a great number of them, I think you will almost always be able to book at 7 months.

Pros of buying Poly:
1. Guaranteed to get it every year at 11 months.

Cons.
1. Steep price to pay for the benefit of the 11 month advantage, which I think most times will not be needed, which basically means you are paying for a privilege you will not need.
2. Only Studios.
3. High MFs on old buildings.
4. I have heard the same thing about the noise. That was the case in the hotel rooms, obviously Disney did not do anything to mitigate the situation.

I think you can basically pick up an SSR contract resale, pay half the price, and most likely not know that the POLY is not your home resort. If you do this, and push comes to shove, and you have trouble getting into the poly, sell it, and buy a poly resale. Your loss will be the commission the agent gets for selling your SSR contract, and you will probably save that by buying Poly cheaper on the resale market in a few years, when there are more contracts out there. It is for this reason, I basically see NO REASON to buy at the poly.

I also agree, about the fixed week. As a week 48, 49 person, if I were to buy the Poly it would be a fixed week for one of those 2. (And I think every year I would be able to cancel and rebook, banking the extra points)
