Looking for drop-proof iPod Touch case

A vote for warranties in addition. My dd cracked her screen on her iPod touch and my son's was drowned on the same day. (and my hubby's was stolen. Same day!)

Fortunately, I had purchased square trade warranties. I think they cost $86 each. Square trade is the only one to cover liquid damage. The claims were approved and I got a shipping label in the space of an hour.

4 days later, my daughter's iPod was back with a new screen, and I had an amazon gift card link for $378. (theft isn't covered so DH is out of luck.) you can buy the warranties for about any major electronics purchase within 90 days of buying it. If you sign up for there emails, you occasionally get a coupon code for 30 percent off.

I have purchased 6 otterbox defender cases... (2 touches, and 4 iphones) all have done a great job protecting. The ipod my daughter uses has taken a lot of abuse (she's 7) and when you take any out of the case they are pristine and scratch/dent free. The one problem with them is the extra bulk makes it difficult to find an acceptable docking station. as far as the silicone goes, I do not have that issue, but it does come a little loose occasionally and I just press it down again. I would write otterbox and see if they could replace it? maybe it is defective or something.

Otterbox is insufficient for me. My son has broken two iPod Touches that were both "protected" by otterboxes, by dropping them. They sometimes will save the screens from cracking, but sometimes they won't. I can't trust them anymore.

I'm in the market to for a case they will protect from drops better than an Otterbox. I don't care if it's bulky, I just want it to protect it.

I saw one for an iPad that is great: it surrounds the iPad with a thick bulky layer of nerf-like material. I wonder if they make anything like that for an iPod. So far I can't find anything like that.

Otterbox has several different levels of cases. The ones offering the most protection are the Defender series. The Commuter is similar and less bulky than defender but less protection.

We too have had the otterbox, but the last purchases for both IPhones and the Ipad were the Griffin cases..very similiar to Otterbox, but military tested, sandproof, etc. My Ipad 3 case was about $100 and love the bright pink.

Griffin Technology makes "survivor" cases for Ipod, IPhone and Ipad. Here is what their site says:
Simply put, the Griffin Survivor Case is the most protective case we've ever built.

Tested and certified to meet or exceed US Department of Defense Standard 810F and UK Department of Defense Standard 00-35, Griffin's Survivor Extreme-Duty Case is designed from the inside out to protect your iPod touch from extreme conditions ... dirt, sand, rain, shock, vibration and a host of other environmental factors.

Survivor is built on a shatter-resistant polycarbonate frame clad in rugged, shock-absorbing silicone. A built-in screen protector seals your Multi-Touch display from the outside environment, and hinged plugs seal the dock connector, camera lens, headphone port, hold switch and volume controls. A detachable heavy-duty clip secures your iPod touch to a belt or bag strap.

Survivor is independently tested and verified to meet or exceed environmental testing standards for blown rain, blown dust and grit, vibration, shock, temperature and humidity. You can view videos and test results online at www.griffintechnology.com/armored.

LOVE MINE!!

My son's ipod touch has a nerf case, similar to the gameboy nerf case.

For the ipad we bought a gumdrop drop series case.

get an otterbox it will kepp the ipod safe even if dropped

I second this!! My three sons have had ipod touches and we put otterboxes on all of them before they were allowed to use them. I think it is a great case. Now if they come out with a Lifeproof case for their touches, I would upgrade. I have the Lifeproof on my iPhone and it is fantastic.
