I am viewing prices from CA to HI (sorry, but gotta visit daughter in HI!!! :sunny: )..........and the LOWEST price in this particular selection is Delta Airline, and wondering if it was just the timeframe of the flight(s) or the airline! Any positive (and negatory) opinions on Delta Airlines appreciated..........thanks :cool1:

I usually fly Delta Song. I am not sure if that is different from just Delta. But I like Delta Song alot.

Being a seasoned traveler...I would certainly not recommend Delta. (the other one you mentioned I have not flown on)

My last 3 attempts with Delta were MAJOR overbooked flights...we got bumped on one involuntarily....splitting myself and my boys up and they were
ages 6 and 9 at the time...we all 3 sat completely apart...what a nightmare and some rude staff. Did I mention that they are never on time? I don't get it. I have flown UsAir, American, Airtran...Southwest and Continental. I have never experienced any of the continous problems that I/we had with Delta. I have decided that this is why their fare goes so cheap at times..folks have no idea what they are getting themselves in for.

I'd give it a minus 4 out of 10...sorry

good day,
Esmerelda

I fly Delta, Northwest, USAir and Independence Air a good bit, and honestly, I don't notice a whole lot of difference among the major carriers. (Clearly, IA isn't major and their service is different and better, IMO.) I've had great experiences on all and bad experiences on all. My last 2 flights were Delta and both were great. I flew Northwest a lot 1998-2000 and had miserable experiences, then flew them almost every week the summer of 2001 and had great experiences. All of them are equally skilled at losing my luggage. ;)

we fly delta about 80% of the time (10-12 flights a year) and have had pretty good success. of course we live in cincy which is a hub for them and most flights have been direct.

if you check expedia for your specific flight they should list the ontime %. at least they used to.

i do think if you ask ten different people about an airline experience you will get ten different answers!

We usually fly Delta since they were at out local airport, but are discontiuing flights. We usually have to connect through Cinnciantti (Comair ) or Atlanta.

This trip we are trying Jet Blue direct from Newark.

We just flew Delta from the east coast to Hawaii, and had no problems. Even with tight connections coming back, all of our luggage made it (which is much better than I can say for our last AA trip--lost our luggage coming and going). They were also close to on time, maybe 15 minutes late leaving once, but we made up the lost time in the air (again, unlike AA which had a four hour delay!!)

I fly Delta as much as possible, and have never had a problem with a flight.

Delta has added some wonderful capacity to HI over the past year or so and depending on the time you are flying and which flight the price could vary. I don't think you should hesitate flying Delta. The major airlines service levels do not differ that much. Delta just doesn't have a very large presence on the West coast at the moment like United or such.

Being a weekly traveler, here is my thought. Delta is not any better or wose then any other airline. All of them have good days and bad days and one thing you learn posting on board like this is all of them have fans and detractors LOL!

As for rude... so far on Delta I have not been called a "witch" (Replace the W for the real word) by a gate agent... that was American.

My last flight on USAir was this past winter when the baggage handlers decided the way to save thier job was to NOT load the luggage on the plane as part of a work slowdown. Of course you do wonder why we were allowed to take off with no luggage... they claimed they didn't know HUH???

The airlines with the best overall rep are SW and JetBlue but they don't fly to HI.

United has a ton of flights there, but they are having some major labor issues.

Personally I would just buy the ticket at the price you like. Any and ALL of them can have a bad day. Plus most of Delta's delays occur in Atlanta (especially in the summer when it storms just about every evening) and you won't have to go through there.

I did just get an email from Delta about a fare sale whch could be what you hit on your fare. (Tickets have to be purchased by the 2nd I think)

I've flown Delta's Hawaii to Atlanta direct flights a lot. The service on those flights has always been excellent. I've even written letters commending the flight crews for those flights. I think they put the really good crews on those flights, but I don't know. I'd say the service from their west coast to Hawaii flights has been just about as good in my opinion. I don't hesitate taking Delta from here to CA anytime.

On some other flights like from New Orleans to LAX my experiences have not been so good.

In general, I'd say you're fine flying Delta. Nothing is perfect of course.

The best rates flying from CA to HI are usually on Hawaiian Airlines and Aloha. Hawaiian is great! Have a wonderful trip!
