Looking for Creative Autograph Ideas

Hi,
I'm going to Disneyland next month and am wouldn't mind collecting some autographs. I don't want to do an autograph book, because I'll never look at them.
Does anyone have any ideas of things I can get signed that won't necessarily get thrown right in a drawer and forgotten about? They'd have to be relatively lightweight.
I've heard some people say they got the Disney Encyclopedia...I'm sorely tempted (just looked it up on Amazon) but shipping to Canada would be insane and I don't want to carry a bigger backpack around (the one I'm thinking of taking now probably won't fit a wide book).

Thoughts?:confused3

Some people take the mount board to a photo frame and get the characters to sign those, then add the matching photo to it.
You could do a light colored cap with fabric markers or a t shirt.
or just a piece of light colored material. Then print out your photos onto transfer paper and iron next to signature . Then make into a quilt or frame
you could do next heavy weighted paper and then print the photo next to it and then have a series of frames across the wall.

Pillow case: use washable (unwashable?) fabric pen
Photo Mat
Some sort of container you would keep loose change in. Might be heavy/awkward. But it would be a cute way to save up for your next trip :) ..... I actually might do this myself....

How about shipping the book to your resort? Would that be less in shipping costs?

We used the Jr. Encyclopedia for our kids and it was great. The characters signed on their page and my kids enjoyed looking at the book and doing trivia questions while waiting in line.

I've successfully shipped other items to a Disney resort; check out the stickied shipping thread in the resorts section of the board.

I'm also from Canada and ordered the Jr encyclopedia and also a princess cook book (to get signed at our princess lunch) from amazon.ca. I believe it also qualified for the free shipping.

On our cruise we had a large white vinylmation mickey signed, 2 mats (one white, 1 red)and a large Mickey glove. Those might be too large for you to carry around, but they look great.
We also had Anna & Elsa sign a little golden book and some posters. They are hanging in DD room and are really cute.
I have heard of people having hats signed, t shirt, canvas shoes or bags.

I hope you find something that works for you.

I got mini chalk board shapes at Michael's craft store and a silver sharpie. They are light weight and look great hanging up.

I would do a photo mat. It's super light weight and depending on what size you want, would easily fit into a back pack!

We got tired of getting an autograph book each trip, then putting it in a pile never to be looked at again. So we made our own permanent autograph book. I made a photo book through an online site called Picaboo (many other sites like Shutterfly do the same thing). I took pictures from our many Disney trips through the years and placed them in alphabetical order. I left some blank space on each page for the autograph. There were a few characters I didn't have photos with yet so I just used a photo from the internet.

It's fun to look back through the book while we wait in line, and often the characters will look through it with us.

I don't know if I'll bring anything for myself to get signed, but I did pick up an Avenger's comic book for my boyfriend that I hope to get signed by Thor and Captain America. I had to leaf through a few to find one with adequate space for a big autograph. Now he might be horrified that I desecrated a comic book like that, but I think it's adorable so he'll have to live with it.
I got a gift receipt and the salesperson said if I didn't get my autographs I could return the book so long as it was in good condition. I'm weird about keeping books in like-new condition as is, so I've got it all wrapped up with cardboard in a cut-to-fit envelope and five million ziplock bags. I guess I'll bring a sharpie or two.

I really want to do the photomat this year but am a little worried about carrying it around all day. I wouldn't want it to get crushed but I think that it would look so neat to have a white photomat with black autographs and then your best WDW pic in the middle. Since I really don't want to carry it around all day I was just planning on bringing to it our character meals since that it where we get most of our signatures anyhow. At least at DL.. i hope it works that way at WDW as well.

We've done a photomat and a t-shirt. The t-shirt got worn all the time and was really special. The mat is still in a pile waiting for a picture to go in it 3 years later.

I'm a teacher and had the characters sign a three-ring binder for me. I used that binder almost every day and it was a constant reminder to me of what a wonderful trip I had! I didn't carry it around the parks, just took it to character meals.

How about using a permanent marker on a pillow case. If you are crafty you could use some type of embroidery for the year - or cover the cuff with a Disney themed material.
