HI!!!!!



Just checking in to let you know we're all alive and somewhat well; thanks for all your concern though.

Amanda is better and went back to school yesterday. Still on O2 and congested; but no fever so hopefully we're on the right track.

I'm a little better. Still congested and very tired. I'm really hitting a wall by 2pm - which is about an hour earlier than I usually do. I finally got out of the house yesterday for the first time since last Thurs. I still need to find a dress to wear to this Bat Mitzvah on Sat. but I got so disgusted trying on things, I gave up after one store. UGH!

Lauren is now not feeling well. I would have kept her home today but she had a big test and I was hoping she would rally as the day went on. She's at play practice until 5:30 and said she was feeling a little better but I have a feeling I'll be keeping her home tomorrow. I'd rather see her get some rest in and not push it so she doesn't get really sick. She'll be so upset if she misses the party this weekend.

I'm not even going to attempt to catch up on old posts. Someone want to give me a rundown? I'm so behind in my TR - have probably lost all of my readers. Oh, and my computer is still screwie but Lauren's user acct. is working so that's how I'm dealing for now.

How is everyone here? I've missed chatting with you all!

ps - Kara: got your follower request on TWitter. I'm actually not using it anymore. Well, I still have the acct. but none of my friends were using it and I realized I just had it set up so Lauren could follow all of the Disney stars. So I still have the acct. but she's the one who goes on it and I get the email notifications about follower requests. So don't be insulted but we denied your follower request (nothing personal).

So glad it's Wednesday - I'm really in the mood for another great episode of Lost tonite! God last week's was amazing!

OK, the run down - Debbie and I are b****** this week, Lorrie's psycho friend wants to follow them to Disney, Tammie is in Vegas, Jillian started back to work, Erin has gone to and returned from Oklahoma, Laura is - what the heck is Laura up to anyway????

So that's about it. You're now caught up.

I just got a call from Jeff - he's in Atlanta - has a 2 hr layover on his way to Baltimore. He left me with Ally's egg drop project.... due tomorrow. We have to wrap a raw egg in something so when it's dropped from 6 feet it won't break. Any ideas?????

Just like all the crappy crap she got in her Easter basket cause he didn't have time to go shopping while I was in Ohio - so we ran to Target the night before, right after we got home from driving all day, and it was all picked over. Then this morning he was all pissy cause he had to take her to the bus stop, put shoe laces in her sneakers for PE today (they just came out of the washer) and then I asked him to move his car so I could get out (had a mammogram this morning), you'd think I asked him for a kidney!!!! I looked at him, and in my b****iest voice said, "not doing well at this Mr Mom thing, huh?" See? I told you I was grumpy this week!!!!

But he cannot do more than one thing at a time, and he has to get her ready for school like 3 times a year!!!!! AARRGGHH!!!! I swear, one of these days I really AM gonna go on strike!!!

Forgot to add -- regarding Ally's project: Lauren did this project a few years ago also. They dropped an egg from a balcony. I have to pick her up at 5:30; I'll ask her for what they did and will get back to you!

I don't know what your limits are Kara, but the one that won when I was in school was in a flippin egg carton and then wrapped with two pillows. But it worked.

Kara - I went on strike one day. Nicolas went to school with a dirty face, milk around the mouth, no teeth brushed, no hair brushed, crocs with socks (it was winter) and a short sleeve shirt (very wrinkled) with pants I don't remember the specifics, but they REALLY didn't match.

For Ally's sake... don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great job Lorrie!!! I just put it in a ziplock so it didn't make a mess, then taped it to an old throw pillow then taped another pillow on top. I dropped from the top of the staircase and it's fine!!!!

Funny thing - I told Ally what we were going to do and she said, "Did Daddy tell you that?" I said, "No, but ...." and she said, "yea mommy! That's science and you thought of it all by yourself, I'm so proud of you!!!" She knows I'm a science moron, so, sorry Lorrie, but you're not getting the credit!!!

OK, project done. Cammie, check with Lauren anyway, cause if it can be done with something smaller than these big ole honkin pillows, that would be good!

Ya know, with the economy in the crapper, and people losing jobs, there has been talk of more home invasions, etc. We talked about getting a gun, but I just can't do it. Not with Ally in the house. What if Jeff is out of town, I hear a noise, I whip out a gun, and when the door to my room opens I fire. And it's not an intruder, it's Ally.

Scares the ever livin out of me! Y'all know I'm pretty conservative, but I am by no means a supporter of the NRA! Guns scare the crap out of me. I've never touched one and hope I never have to.

But McD's is offering buy one Big Mac or Qtr Pounder and get one for 1 cent today - tax day.

Kara - I was afraid of guns too. We actually took classes from a former FBI agent at a range. Great things to know - like being aware of what is behind what you are pointing at (which should only be something you wish to DESTROY).

We have one. Ours has a gun lock that fits over the gun. No rounds in the chamber and magazines aren't stored with them. The key is hidden, so I feel very safe with the kids here.

My mom has a shotgun and no training. SHE SCARES ME!

We've already had that talk with Nicolas that guns aren't toys, etc. That they can do things you can't take back. Adults only. So far he has a good knowledge of never to use them, etc. I just plan on never giving him the opportunity to see if he would or wouldn't touch one if you KWIM.

ME TOO! Being up a whole 16 lbs in two months, I'm so on the diet train starting tomorrow. Why tomorrow? I need to get groceries and it is too flippin cold here to do it today! Tomorrow is suppose to be warm. I froze my tush off (I wish) at the game last night.

Lorrie - and that is exactly how I would have a gun, too. Here's the thing. We were talking about possibly getting one and I said it would be kept unloaded in our closet, up high. The ammo would be kept somewhere else, etc. So SFIL (that is STUPID FIL) says that there's no point in having one then because you need to have it ready to fire, so it should be kept under the bed. WTH???? THAT is why I would never own one. Because if Jeff listens to him, he will insist that we have it "ready." I just can't imagine waking up, only half awake, and grabbing it. I would need it somewhere that I had to get up, WAKE UP, and run to get. That way I would know what I was shooting at. Plus, I don't think most home invasions are like Schwarzenegger movies - I don't think that 12 guys come in firing. KWIM? We have an alarm that sounds in our room whenever a door or window is opened. So if it's 2am and I know we're all in bed, we would know that an intruder is coming in. And I'd have time to get up and get what I need. Now once Ally is a teenager and comes stumbling in drunk at 2am (j/k!!! ), I may have another problme!
