That makes the day even better!!

I hope your mouth is feeling better! I feel so bad for you! Be careful with that Advil too
You don't want to take too much of that, right Maureen? Isn't it hard on your liver or kidney's or something like that.

....says the worry wart!

I am new to posting, in fact this is my FIRST ever post, but I had to join in on this one, cause I am SO a control freak. What's worse I am learning that having a Disney trip has made it even worse! :goodvibes

I have been lurking on the boards for a couple weeks now ever since my dh showed me the site, and reading through everything... Our trip isn't until 12/8 so we have time (can't even make our ADR's yet) but I have them decided of course, and give me a few more days, I will probably even know what I want to order!!:rotfl: But I am STRESSING OUT about everything with the trip, which of course is starting with that we are pulling the girls out of school for the week we are in Disney, what if the teachers/admin get all mad? What if my DD (9) has trouble keeping up when she gets back? AAGH!! My little dd(almost 7) I don't worry so much about, as she is little miss schoolwork, but Meag is adhd and has really struggled this year with 3rd grade, and so I worry more about her and school anyway, and being gone a week.... I tell myself that it is the week before Christmas break, so not like they are gonna be doing any SERIOUS stuff but still, I stress, know what I mean??

Anyway, just wanted to say hi to everyone here, and join in the fun. I feel like I know you already, from reading your posts here...

Kristi:Pinkbounc , mom to dd (9) princess: dd(7 almost) princess:

:dance3: Welcome!!! Please join in!!!:dance3:

It's nice you picked this thread to be your 1st post. I seriously wouldn't worry about taking the girls out of school for a week. We've done it twice and asked if there was work to be made up that we caould take and the teacher said no..have a good time. People do it all the time around here. They go everywhere..Hawaii, WDW, Jamaica, New York, etc.

Happy Planning!:)

Tammie's Grandson came into the world a few days ago. I think he was around 6 or 7 lbs and mom and the rest of the family are doing well! :cloud9:

Keahi.....I'm so sorry your son didn't make it into the school. My friend who lives out there says it's really competetive. In fact, he has twin girls that were probably applying to the same school. But you can look forward to going to Disneyworld. I bet your son will be very happy about that!

Debbie.....When are you leaving for your trip? How are you?!!

Hi to everyone!!!

Debbie...I know...trust me.....I hate to take medicine..period. I worry that this will react with that. The root canal wasn't that bad. Last time I had Advil was at 1 pm and it's now 9:57pm..so that's good news. It's still sore, but that 's normal. I am never going to the dentist again!! (Of course..that's WHY I had to go to the dentist in the first place!)

You didn't miss it. I don't think she posted it. She PMed me about something and I asked her.

Ok......I am not telling you all this to enable your Gymboree habit, but It's time for Circle of Friends!!! 30% off everything! I'm debating it.

YEP! I know and they have an adorable lobster boy line!! DD already has everything and I went and bought her and I AND DS the whole Disney Store Hawaiian line.

Question...

keahi... does the Hawaiian line of Disney interest you or is it overkill becuase you live there? Just curious!

Pam...I was just going to post about the Circle of Friends. It's a sickness, I tell ya! BTW, you can safely take up to 16 Advil every 24 hours (3200 mg). That is the rx dosing, but as long as you don't exceed that, which I am sure you aren't, you'll be fine. Debbie was right, though, it can affect your kidneys if you overdo it.

Tammie...Congrats on Mason James. I can't wait to see pics when you get a chance.

Debbie..Wow, you have two tickers. I am so jealous. I have to get to planning my Oct trip.

Keahi...Sorry to hear that your DS didn't get in, but that school sounds ultra competive. At least every cloud has a silver lining...WDW will be so much fun.

Sewer...Glad you could sneak out of work to enjoy the beautiful weather! I am looking forward to my day off tomorrow to bask in the sun.

Lisa...You will be in WDW soon! Is you DD so excited? I am excited for her!

Kristy...Welcome to the thread! I was a long time lurker on the DIS until I found this thread. This a great bunch of ladies and we all understand each other so well...its kinda scary how much we think alike. I am looking forward to getting to know you!

I had a crappy day at work. Some days I just really dislike the general public and today was one of those days. I have a few complaints to get off of my chest. Its not a good idea to stand at the register and stare at the pharmacy staff as you wait for your rx. Its even worse to stare at the staff while you loudly chomp on potato chips. It doesn't make them work any faster! Also, why in the world do people who aren't even picking up rxs think its ok to bring all your stuff to the rx register to be rung up. Its really rude to the customers who are getting rxs filled. Finally, when we say your rx will be ready in 15 minutes, don't debate that with us. We are trying to fill prescription meds accurately, so you might not want to rush us. Its not like we are serving up burgers and fries. Whew..I feel better just getting that out. Thanks for listening.

How annoying!! Some people just weren't born with a clue bag!

Hiya,
can I put a little toe in the water - I AM A WORRIER TOO.... and obsessive planner etc

We are off to WDW in April 2008 and I have planned and planned already - tickets are bought everything booked that can be booked etc, still I worry ....

We are staying in a villa for the first time - and I worry about the "wildlife" - the little lizard things I can live with, but bugs/spiders/snakes etc aarrggggghhhhh.

Being from England, the weather worries me, the heat worries me,the humidity worries me... last time we came to the US we were "hit" by a hurricane for goodness sake!

Also, the flight from UK - I wasn't that worried till my friend's party was split - mum +dd1, dad +dd2 at other ends of the plane!!!! no no no....

Anyhow, going to go lie down now it's off my chest thanks....

Tessa

Welcome TTTESSA (Tessa)!
We hear ya!!!!! I would guess it would be worse for you coming from another country and all too. Plus, after you get hit by a hurricane...YIKES:scared1: ! That can't help with the worrying!

April is a great time of year to go. Have you created a ticker for yourself? What dates exactly will you be there? The heat shouldn't be unbareable but I can't gurantee that of course.

The flight situation... I bet they can switch stuff around when you arrive at the airport or maybe you should try calling???

Never stayed in a Villa so I can't really help you there but I think the Villas are just like self standing hotel rooms of sorts. Am I wrong? I don't think the bugs can make it in any worse then in the actual buildings.

Stick around....lurk...talk....vent....ask us anything! We're here for ya!

We stay in the villas all the time and never had one bug. Ewww. I have heard that even in the Wilderness Lodge (main hotel) has had ants on the 5th floor! Some people have had a bug or two especially at Old Key West, but I bet they left the door open a tad too long. You can always ask for another room. The villas are spacious. Where are you staying and are y9ou getting a 2 bedroom, 1 bedroom, or Grand Villa? Or are you staying offsite at different Villas?

Ahibird (keahi) Where are you going to stay and did you get a deal or anuything like AAA. How about any free dining? You know that you MUST go to MNSSHP! We usually go in October and will feel so sad when we miss it this year but I really want to see what Christmas is like in the MK even if it is November!

We're staying for 3 nights at the Poly, and then 6 nights at OKW in a 1-bd. villa. I used AAA for the Poly, and I am renting points for OKW. We miss the dates for free dining, but are thinking about adding it for the second part of the stay. Still debating... We went to MNSSHP last year, and are definitely attending this year, too.:thumbsup2

I know it seems sort of strange that being from Hawaii we chose the Poly - but it was the location that sold us - can't beat the convenience to the monorail stops and the castle view... :cool1: and it will be just like home, well, sort of... kind of... maybe... :rolleyes1

I've already bought DS the Mickey Hawaiian Postcard shirt. ;)

Are you kidding? I live in Ohio, and that weather worries me! :rotfl:

Hiya - thanks all -just getting some response helps settle the mind don't you think?

We are staying off site in a 3 bed villa (booked through Virgin holidays) - apparently they have a pool with a mesh enclosure to cut down on having to fish "things" out before swimming!! Do villas (houses we call them !!) generally come with bug screens on the windows/doors over there? I know, I know, I'm paranoid - but then I suppose that is this thread's remit!
Cheers,
Tessa

Thanks, everyone for the warm welcome and the words of encouragement. I do feel better just knowing others have pulled kids out without problems. I read a board talking about school boards taking people to COURT over this the other day and got a little stressed out...:confused3

Welcome, fellow newbie! It is my experience that almost all houses in the US have screens, I live in IA and we certainly do here! I can't imagine they won't have them in FL too.

Sorry about the tough day in the pharmacy! I don't quite get why people are so rude either. I work in customer service, and for the MOST part my folks are great, but every so often.... I posted for a job in our help desk, I don't imagine the callers will be quite so friendly then, but the money is better so we will see what happens there.

Hi everyone! I posted a few days ago but when I thought I pressed submit reply I must have hit something else. DD was trying to get me off the computer so I was hurrying. That is my worry for Disney. Me packing, DD unpacking. I don't have my camera batteries charged yet. I have to get a refrigerator for the hotel room and I didn't ask fot that yet. I want to request an area at CBR. Has anyone ever done that? Is it true that you call 5 days before because that is when they set up where your room will be? Do I sound like I am losing it?
DD is so... excited now. She has watched tv travel shows on Disney and already told me what rides she wants to go on, and what color teacup. She keeps telling me she wants to go to Disneyworld. Luckily she wasn't this excited for the last few months. We are counting down the days together. She is just learning how to count.
Keahi - Sorry about the bad news. One thing I have noticed in my town is that most of the students in public schools do well if their parents are involved so I'm sure your son will do great in life w/such caring parents. Congrats on your new ticker. :yay:
Debbie - Sorry for you w/your stressing. I am WAY stressed lately.
Tammie - Congrats on your new grandson.
Pam - Hope you feel better soon.:flower3:
Maureen - How do you do it? 3 kids and working w/customers all day. When I pick up my rx I am usaully behind someone who can't speak English or their insurance isn't going through for a certain prescription. So...fun. The pharmacist looks just as happy as I do about it.
Welcome Tessa & Kristi!

Lisa....we have a month and half to go and DD is saying Disneyworld, Disneyworld and telling us what she wants to ride. She'll turn 4 on the trip and she will "giving" Mickey Mouse her Binkie for good! So I hope she still likes him when we get home!

Kristi, My parents took me out of school for 2.5 weeks in my junior year to go to Hawaii. Now THAT is much, but I am glad I went and my grades didn't suffer that bad. Your kids are still young. When we did take my DD out of school one of the times was when they had a day or two off so she wasn't really missing the whole week.

Tessa....I thought you meant the DVC villas on property. My friend has stayed at houses off property and have good experiences. The home had it's own pool that was screened in. I am sure most homes have screened windows..not sure about doors..they could be optional when the person builds the house. Hopefully, the owner of the property gets regualr pest control services.

Oh yeah! I am now worring about if it will be too hot in June or too cold in November!!!
I'm paranoid - but then I suppose that is this thread's remit!
Cheers,
Tessa

Yep! You are worrying/venting in the right place!

Yeah, I guess it one of those topics to avoid here at the DIS. There are a few (ie. pulling kids out of school, lying about your childs age, ). I don't kindergarten for 12 years and I thought that it was great that a student had the opportunity to go on a family vacation! Everyone is different I know but come on....kids are in school for so.... much of thier live!!!!!

The refridgerator is no biggie. You can tell them at check in even. Not sure about when it's the best time to call. The problem with all your questions is that I have never stayed at CBR or maybe I did back in the 80's so I don't know how it is to stay there. I forgot...are you paying out of pocket with AAA? or something else? hang in there. It will all be fine.

Hi Everyone!!!
It's 85 here today :goodvibes YEAH!!!:cool1: I think we are going to go to the zoo tomorrow!
