okay just looked at cars. If we can get orlando we can get car for $100 week, might do it if we don't get free week

We got married in Nahant, Ma. Right on the waters edge it snowed 16 inches the day before and we lost 70 guests at our wedding due to flights etc.. It was so nice and intimate I was glad.

Our Kitchen is original we actually have the same counters they have at 50's primetime but ours are Yellow it is our next project. I am looking at new floors and counters and a new stove right now. We have a huge down stairs it gives our home 1500 sq ft upstairs is only 980 we have a nice size back yard

DH and I would love to find a fixer-upper home if we ever move again. Nothing structural but just updating, like floors, kitchen, bath, etc. We've had 3 new homes but they were all spec homes when we found them, so we didn't get to put any of our "own" touches in them. Our house now is large, but very "vanilla." I can't tell DH but I absolutely hate it! It has no charm whatsoever, which is why he's letting me put a little bit into it. Our first house was small, but very charming, and our last house was just "perfect." I would have never left it if I didn't have to. It's amazing how a house really does help make a home. I just don't feel at home here, and it really does have a lot to do with the house. And our backyard is soooo tiny! Luckily it's wooded so we have privacy, but once we have neighbors on either side, I'm really gonna hate it! That probably sounds really shallow, but I just don't get a "warm" feeling when I walk in the front door, ya know? If it weren't for the community benefits I would probably lose my mind!

This is the first house DH and I walked into. I fell in love with it the minute I walked into it. I am wish I could pick it up and move it with us where ever we go. We are thinking about adding a master suite by expanding the attic We will add another bathroom and a full suite, but it is going to have to wait the contractor wants 40,000 to do the addition and it is not in the cards right now.

I know what you mean about vanilla we looked at so many house down in South Carolina that were vanilla. I just felt cold when I walked into them.

DH is looking into becoming a flight paramedic and fire fighter his dream job is Disney Shocking I know so we will be moving in 3 years that is the agreement. I don't think I will ever be able to move from new england.

Love your home Jillian! Thanks for sharing! Wait till Tessa, Erin &Tammie come back and see what we have been up to!

I did get a lot done. :laundy: The kids were gone all day with their Dad by the in-laws. I hate when they are gone that long but I tried to keep working! Of course I didn't get a quarter of what I thought I could get done, done.

As my DD left the in-laws (after she had a great time), she hugged them and kissed them and then she said to her other Grandparents (who she doesn't see that often)...
"Bye losers................":headache:

She is always trying out new vocabulary and doesn't always realize what she is saying.........she wasn't even afraid of getting in trouble because she didn't even know what she said wrong! How embarassing!

I blame the Zach & Cody marathon she had while I was being a bad Mom (:surfweb:)on Saturday! I knew I should have pulled her away from the TV sooner!

I would love to have guests I have discovered as I get older friends start to dwindle. I really only talk to one friend anymore and other than that my mother is my new old best friend I know I am a loser, but as a new mother you don't really get to meet people. :confused3 We tried Gymboree but it is during nap time and it doesn't work. I am not really sure how to meet new people. I don't live in a neighborhood where people come over for coffee or hang by the pool.

Hi ladies! I'm back and exhausted but so excited! I scored a front row seat for Tim McGraw - they let us come all the way up to the stage! The 20's party was really fun! I'll try to download pics from my phone!

Debbie - Thanks so much for calling me - it meant alot! the new spa products are fabulous - smell just like a high end spa and everything to detox, exfoliate, moisturize your body and hair and relax your mind :cloud9: Much cheaper than getting the treatments at a day spa!

Kara, I was thinking of you. :sad1:

Well, gotta try to sleep - I'll catch up and write more later! TTFN

I want your opinion on this. Air Tran upped my flight time by 3 hours. From 1 pm to 10 am, we'd get home at 3:45 pm. We are currently flying out of Fort Lauderdale, which is closer to where we will be. Do you think that AirTran would change my return flight to Orlando? They have a flight that leaves at 3:45 and would put us home by 6:30. it’s a 2 hour drive back to Orlando. I am stumped. It would be good to get back earlier but I want to spend more time in FL.

Happy Monday - Ugh!

Laura - After reading your next few posts, I'm still not sure if you want your flight changed, but I've read alot on the Transportation boards; if I remember correctly, if an airline changes your flight time by 3 hours or more, you can request a change of flight at no additional cost. I would call Airtran and ask.

Love the pictures of everyone houses. Now I need to search for pix of mine (might just be easier to take new ones!) Anyway, spent a good part of the day yesterday downloading old Disney photos from photocds onto my computer. The earliest are only from 2003 but I can't believe how little my girls were! Sigh!

Jillian - I used to think that I could never leave the Northeast; but as I get older, the more sick and tired I've become of snow & cold! My younger DD keeps saying she wants to do the Disney college program - I'm keeping my fingers crossed because I would move right down there with her!(whether she wants me to or not! )

Tammie - Welcome back! First row for Tim McGraw? Could you grab his butt?:cloud9:

Debbie - Ok, had to snicker at the "losers" comment by your DD! I bet she looked so cute saying it though!:cutie:

Kara - I second Jiliian's request that you come up to my house and decorate it. I sooo do not have an eye for that sort of thing. One of the reasons I'm in the house I'm in is because I really loved the colors and wallpaper the original owner had put in. There wasn't much I wanted to do. In 2001, I had an addition put on the first floor for my older DDs bedroom and bathroom. I was so stressed picking out paint, wallpaper, tiles, cabinets, fixtures!:scared1: Seriously, I would walk into a tile store and want to cry - too overwhelming! I think it came out nice but I just hate the process! I'll post pix late to show you all!

Have a good day everyone!

Jillian, we were that way in our first house. Even though we were in a new neighborhood, everyone really kept to themselves. And then our last home there were a lot of older people living around us. We are fortunate that the area we're in is very transient so people are anxious to meet each other since everyone seems to be new to the area. But I've really met most of my friends in recent years through DD and her school, and her preschool/daycare before that. All my high school and college friends are back in Ohio, so it was definitely a challenge when DH and I moved to SC. Loved it there!!!! And our bestest buds are there now. However, be careful what you wish for in visitors. Our friends are coming down for 4th of July weekend, then they called to see if they could come for the whole week. :scared1: I really don't mind, but they need to understand that DH and I have to work (and I work at home!!!!).

Welcome "home" Tammie! Sounds like an awesome concert!!! I hope you have photos to share - as you can tell, we've all been posting photos of late!

Thank you for thinking of me.... it sucked, to say the least, but at least it's done and our little girl is better now.

Have a good day everyone!

As much as I have really loved everywhere I've lived, I've always been up for change. I was eager to try Florida (what was I thinking!!!) but I'm sure that in time I'll grow to love it here, too.

As for decorating, I have "ideas" but no skills for putting them into play. Our first house we did a lot of fun things - we put up chair rail, picture rail, wallpaper borders, and lots of paint. Oh, we also laid ceramic tile on the screened porch - that was a huge job!!!!! But since then, it's been hard to tackle any big jobs. So now I just paint and try to make my own window treatments. I made the cutest ones for my last kitchen - they were pleated, with buttons - hmmm, wonder where those pics are??? But we have really high ceilings here so I need more than just valance type things. I need drapes I think, and I can't do that. But I also can't find them in the length I need which means I need to pay someone to make them. I have a decorator coming this week for a consult. She's bringing her drapery person - yeah, right, I'm estimating about $1500 just for the famiy room. :rotfl2: That's exactly what I'll do, too, is laugh in her face! But I have a 20' family room so in addition to me not being able to make them, I couldn't hang them either!!!! I think I'd much rather spend my money elsewhere - that's 5 nights at a deluxe resort in Disney!!!!!

I also got a little chuckle out of Debbie's DD's comment. Reminded me of the time DD was with her grandparents and they were driving and saw a bright orange car - DD said, "What the h***?" Hey, at least she used it in the right context! :rotfl:

Cammie, as for your daughter in the Disney college program.... I would be so ecstatic if my DD did that! I think it would be great experience, plus old mom and pop could sponge off her for a little bit!!! When we were taking the boat from POR to DTD we heard that those tree houses along the river were for foreign exchange students in the program. Then on the way back from DTD a different captain told us that they are getting ready to tear them down for something else. Anyone know about this?

Well, DH lost his car keys so he took my car this morning and is having someone come out this afternoon to cut a key for his car. Ticks me off. His is a company car and I hate driving it. Not that I need it for much, I only fill up my car once every 3 weeks or so, but I just like knowing it's here.

Well, I'm gonna try to finish painting today. Just hard to get motivated. I'm really tired this morning, may try to lay down and catch a little nap this morning, before we get busy at work.

I'll check in later!

Debbie- My DD has made comments like that too. Why is they are always to the most wrong people. Oh well. I try to shrug it off. I'm sure it wasn't Zack and Cody, I'll never know where DD picks up some of her words. Certainly not from me. :rotfl2:

Tammie - sounds like you had a great time. I would have loved to see Tim McGraw that close. mmmmmm

Jillian- I'm in the same boat as you. My neighborhood has no young kids. I used to work full time and had many work friends but now that I stay at home they all have gone away. I'm trying our early childhood program thru the public schools. The program isn't bad it's the other kids that scare me. I have learned that I am making the right decision by sending DD to private Catholic school. I am going to keep looking for stuff to do. We have a women's circle at our parish that I've been to a few times. There are moms there with 8+ kids. YIKES. They are really into big families. Not necessarily my cup of tea. It will get better when Badookie gets older. Our moms can be a great friend when we have little ones.

I have gotten to know my neighbors really well. They are the same ages as my parents. The scary part is that I went to school with their kids. They all have adopted my DDs. I love my neighborhood so much when we were in the process of trying to sell this house I cried when we got our first (and only) offer. Oh that's a story all by itself. end of it is we never moved.

DD is trying to take morining nap. I might have an hour to get the house back in order. I'm going to call Airtran and see what they will do. The worst they can say is no.

One more thing. Our friends from West Palm called last night. They were kind of disappointed that we weren't going to spend more time with them. We'll be with them Friday-Sunday. She just started a new job and won't have any vacation and he works the night shift and the kids have school. I thought we were doing good thing by not over staying our welcome. I am afraid that we may have offended them by planning the trip to Disney to piggy-back of the airfare. I don't want them to be mad at us. :scared: Hopefully they'll see how chaotic it is when we get there.

Hey Laura - Don't let your friends make you feel guilty; you need to do what's best for YOUR family. For the distance you're travelling, I think it makes total sense to spend time at WDW while you're down there. Your friends should just be happy you'll be seeing them at all and just enjoy the time you're together. You can't please everybody, so just please those who matter most - You and your family.

Good luck with AirTran! (I would totally play up the fact that you're travelling with a young child and the flight change is a REAL inconvenience!)

BTW- will get the dress in the mail today!:)

Laura - You're right about overstaying your welcome, I think. Have you ever stayed with your friends before? If not, then a short little stay is probably the best thing for the first time. Our dearest friends in SC want us to stay with them next time we go up there (that will be interesting since the inlaws live there), but we're afraid to do it since we've never stayed in their house before, and my girlfriend is very anal about most things!

OK ladies, I have a couple disigns to share - these are rumblytumbly's and I thought they applied to us!

lucky you!

Kara...I saved like a billion of her pix yesterday. They are so fun!!! I was wondering though why some designers get in trouble and others don't. Do you know? I loved Pat & Amy's stuff.
Oh & BTW No complaining about company coming cause I'm coming!!!!!

Me and the whole family!!!!! I'm thinking February when it's really cold & snowy here!

J/K of course. You know how funny I think I am!

Hi Cammie...can't wait to see pix from 2003. I can post some too. That's my babies first trip!! I cry looking at them!!!! It was October.

Laura...watch it! We only talk with appropraite respectful language in our home!

One coat of trim done ceiling and baseboards - This is gonna take forever at this rate!!!!

Now I KNOW why I missed you all so much! :flower3: I am just going to slip right back in. Look at all of the tickers!! WOW!

Laura - We visit friends in Houston, and I feel exactly the same way. A couple of days of togetherness is enough. I don't like to wear out our welcome! They are about 45 mins from the beach, and this next visit, instead of going for the day, we will stay at the beach for a few days. Wish it were WDW....

Kara - I LOVE the cute pics, especially the shopping one!

Tammie - Front row tickets for Tim McGraw?? That is awesome!

Hi to everyone!!

Hi Pam! and ..... welcome back! You know how it is around here - just jump right in and it will be like you were never gone!

Hi Cammie...can't wait to see pix from 2003. I can post some too. That's my babies first trip!! I cry looking at them!!!! It was October.

Hey - we were there in Oct. 2003 also - think it was around the first week. Of course, we stayed at the BW. It was the last trip to we took before my ex and I split; I remember being doubly aggravated with him that trip - he was always slowing us down! Believe it or not, my trips run much smoother w/out him!

Anyway, I'll upload some to photobucket and post here. One thing I'm laughing at while looking at them - my daughters are a living, breathing advertisement for Gymboree! Seems every outfit - head to toe - is from that store. Man, I used to spend ALOT of money there!:scared:

Now it's Abercrombie, American Eagle, Aeropostale, Pac Sun...Highway robbery! And, to add insult to injury, I feel so OLD when I am in those stores w/my DDs. If one more cute young person mam's me! I don't feel like a mam!

If one more cute young person mam's me! I don't feel like a mam!

:rotfl2: Love it! Hey, Pam!!!!

I'm not there yet as far as the types of stores you're referring to, but I am starting to get the Ma'ams!!!! I don't wanna grow up, I don't wanna grow up!!

OK, so got all the trim work done with two coats, then I got the one long wall done two coats yesterday. But I ran out today with about a 4 foot section floor to ceiling no paint at all. So I have to go out tonight and get another gallon to finish up tomorrow. Shouldn't take me long though. Then tomorrow night DD and I will make our weekly pilgrimage :lmao: to JoAnn's and anywhere else I can find to spend my husband's hard earned money! :rotfl2: Wait! Some of that is my hard earned money, too!
