THIS is what I have running all over my driveway! I found this pic on the internet, but it works just fine!

I'd be worried about stepping on them and squishing them in the dark ... My last house was near a canal and in the spring all the frogs would be wandering around and there were tons of them and DD was in a buggy at the time and i swear it was a close call many times :scared1:

Yup, we have tons of them too! And our house backs up to the woods so it is LOUD at night!

I'm totally creeping myself out with these pics! But don't worry - I promise, NO SNAKE pics because if I see one, I'm gone!!!! I lived in SC for 14 years and there were snakes everywhere! But I never saw even one!

Get this. 5 years ago our neighborhood was a swamp. Then they slowly began developing it. We back up to the Jennings State Forest - and that has lots of swampland in there. And we're on a golf course - so our house backs up to a wooded area that will never be developed. Maybe 100 yards on the other side of the woods is a golf hole. To get from the tee box to the fairway on this hole, you have to drive over a bridge because there is a big swamp! So in essence, either my lot used to be a swamp, backs up to a swamp, or there is swamp on the other side of the woods!!!! :scared1: And if the reptiles aren't bad enough.... I planted some marigolds, salvia, and something else really pretty pink (don't know what it is!!!). It was spreading like crazy and looked so pretty, until the deer discovered them! So I have no red salvia, no pink whatever, only the yellow marigolds (guess deer don't like them!). I'm so mad though!!!!

Here's to you Erin and Tessa - I'm listening to UK Pavilion music!!!!

I've done a really go job so far of not being a nerd, like I am in real life :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: DH said he will only play trivia pursuit with me on his team, never against me. I do think that is a compliment. I have knowledge about things that never make any sense to anyone else.

For the last 5 summers, I have managed a flowermart in our area. Imagine a portable greenhouse in a grocery store parking lot. I have gotten to know a lot about plants. Probably more than one should know. Contemplated getting my horticulture certificate from the University. That would be 180 degrees from my undergrad in Economics/Finance. Decided against. Figured I'd better use that time to keep up my house/ :rotfl2:

Here is my standard list of plants for zone 4 that deer aren't supposed to like:rotfl: I know that Kara is either a zone 8 or 9 (usda growing zones) but these will give you some more ideas.

Ageratum
Alyssum
Amaranth
Castor Bean
Chinese Forget-me-Not
Cleome
Cosmos
Dusty Miller
Marigold
Nirembergia
Ornamental Peppers
Salvia
Snapdragon
Wax Begonia
Zinna

If those fail here are my guess for repellents. Liquid Fence, Tree Guard
Coyote Urine (yuck but it works) Hot Pepper Wax Spray

Cammie--I'm still thinking about the photo question. Kara's graphics frustated me last night so I had to give up.

OK, Laura, you are cracking me up!!!! First you were able to use photoshop (the rest of us were clueless), now you are going to help me find plants that the deer WON'T eat, what's next??? :rotfl2: And FYI - when we take our CFAWW trip, Laura is on MY Trivial Pursuit team! :rotfl: And maybe it's not the deer that are eating my salvia - maybe it's the armadillos? Have I told y'all how much I hate Florida?????

Kara, I just gave in and called Disney. They put me on hold while they call the person who does the Character Hotline. That person doens't know anything about Lightning NOT being there. He said he is scheduled today at 5:15, and while he only has information on a daily basis, he is there now. If that is true, that report on Passporters must be wrong. OH I HOPE SO!

I've ran upon it once upon a time. I've tried to remember just where. I'm searching right now. The number I called was Disney's main line, and they put me on hold while they called the Char hotline. I will find it and post it as soon as I do...

Thankyou Thankyou :thumbsup2

Ahh...I found it. It reads "to find out where any character is or will be appearign, call 1-407-824-2222". I just called. I asked the CM to tell me when Lightning would appear. She checked and said he is there. I think she was actually communicating with someone else by computer.

Great thankyou .... DD really wants to meet Marie from Aristocats and it's probably a long shot but i can ask them now yayayay thanks again :thumbsup2

I don't know about everyone else, but it always makes me nervous that they are just reading something old.

Update - I went ahead and emailed a couple of people about it who should know. Let's see what they say.

Laura - For our CFAWW trip, you can be on Kara's trivial pursuit team, BUT, you must travel to Orlando via Boston; where you must spend a few days at my house first to help me figure out my computer AND garden woes! I cannot believe you're so well versed in both of these areas! The computer and my landscaping are THE two biggest thorns in my side! I have the prettiest shrubs and flowers on my property - things blooming at different times all throughout the spring - all done by the previous owner. I just do my best not to kill them!

Marie can usually be found at some point during the day at the France pavillion in Epcot. She's so cute! My girls and I are on a quest to get a pic with her this year also!

Yeah, I really don't want to make you nervous but these boards are FULL of stories about CMs that give out wrong info over the phone. It really does boggle the mind that some of them are just so blatanly clueless! If I were you, Renee, I'd post on the Theme Parks & Attractions board - someone there should know for sure. Good luck!

She's definitely been out more; think she may also be at DHS. You can check the board on the day you go to that park.

And once again i am being a novice where is the board too??? I promise i have been before but just stumbled upon the characters of sorts hahahahhahaha

I read somewhere, no idea where!, that when Fantasmic runs the late showing, there are tons of characters around the hat at DHS at 5pm. No idea if this is true or not.....

And I'd love to see Marie also - she used to be one of MY faves!!!! I've never seen her before, but yet we never seem to catch the characters in Epcot.... only seen Jasmine and Aladdin in Morocco and Belle and Aurora in France - and that is where we spend the majority of our time!!!!

Again, I have that sick feeling in my tummy about this trip. I just don't see DH telling his family, "see ya - we're off to do our own thing because y'all are clueless!" even though I know he's going to want to do that or we'll both be pulling our hair out!!!!

Well, DH just pulled in and we're off for his bday dinner!

I'm pretty sure there is a board that lists showtimes and character greeting spots - on the rt.hand side as you're walking towards the hat. You can also hop into guest services in any park - they'll know where to find her

Actually, characters are out around the hat various times throughout the day. I think Marie is definitely appearing more frequently in France though.

You can also catch Pooh & Friends, Alice, and Mary Poppins in UK; Mulan in China; Snow White and Dopey in Germany; Brother Bear in Canada; Donald & friends in Mexico. I think Epcot WS is a great place to see characters!

As far as DH's family, it seems like you're going to have to take the bull by the horns and just stand up for what you want to do. Tell them all they can "Eat your dust!" Remember - this is YOUR vacation too!
