I agree with you Cammie. I don't think I mind taking him out, but those first few months and weeks - maybe that isn't the best idea. Besides, April gets me there quicker!!! :cool1:

Debbie - Don't you dare click on that link!

Okay, been boxing things up. You can semi walk now! I am doing the yard sale. Even if it is an everything is a dollar one! That is why I have hesitated. The overwhelming idea of pricing all this stuff.

I booked us a nice little aniversary getaway. My MOM actually said she'd watch the kids overnight. :scared1: I wonder if I was talking to the right person  Nah, she probably just figures that is her help for the year! I'm excited though. Almost 24 hours of DH to myself! The room wasn't cheap though, but hopefully we will be near the waterfall as I asked.

Hey guys!

Renee- re: selling old things. I agree with Kara; you got the yard sale coming up anyway - why not see what you can get rid of?

Re: - Disney trip. I didn't mean to imply to NEVER take DS out of school for the trip - I'm a HUGE advocate of pulling my kids out of school to vacation at a better time. I was just questioning doing it so close to the start of the school year. I would pull them out as much as I could while they're young; it gets much harder the older they get. I'm pulling mine out again in Nov. and DD will be in 7th grade - will do it again in 8th gr. But once high school starts, who knows?:confused3 I'm lucky she's an honor student and anal like me - so she's very good about making up her work. We'll see.

No I knew you were one of us!

Debbie - Have you ever called Disney and asked if there was a "code" attached to your name? Or your mom's? I've heard people do this all the time - or they get a postcard with a code; as long as you're in the Disney "system" - meaning you've gone once or shopped at one of their sites. They just randomly assign discount codes. I've never asked because I always book using DVC pts. But this family I know at my DD's gymnastics class went to Disney for the first time last year. They got a postcard with a discount code in the mail two months ago - they're going again in Oct. - with 40% of the room rate at GF!
Every time I plan a trip!!!!!!!

It might not be as big of a deal as you think....when do you start? August or September?

Debbie - Don't you dare click on that link! Ooops..

Have fun!!!!!!

Renee- Do the garage sale! Keep in mind that donating the stuff can sometimes get you more $$ but you'd have to wait until next tax season to get it back. Depending on your income it can be as much as 60cents for every $1 you donate. I'm not a tax accountant but something to think about. Just take pics of what you donate and get a recpt.

Also I'm pulling DD 6 out of school in 2 weeks. I would have done it in September but it didn't mesh with our plans. Is your DS in preschool this year? Are many of those kids going on with him to K? If they are that might mitagate any issues of bonding.

I guess I have to start shopping at Disney stores more often to get that code attached to my name. DD is already asking when we will go back. We haven't even gone yet!

It is almost 80 degress out. Tammie sorry to hear about the snow. I am heading outside to play. :)

I also have to find time to read tessa's report. can't wait. I'll do that at work tonight.

Laura - for some reason I thought you had a to have an appraiser if you were donating goods above $500. We have taken so much to Goodwill last year - like 10 big boxes of household things and adult clothes. We never got a receipt nor claimed it because of that.

Debbie - :rolleyes1 I got that 40% off coupon in the mail before I booked our trip. I LOST it. Then when I called to book, it had expired the week before. I still got to use a 20% one though. Here is a tip too. Each year I order the planning DVD. This year mine had that 20% code in the book that came with it. Disney was great with me about adjusting rates down to the lowest one until we got into the 45 days.

Preschool starts back after labor day. Regular school starts mid-April. I don't remember who asked but the kids at preschool won't be all together at school. I think two will go to Nicolas' school and there are 4 K classes.

DD is throwing herself on the floor, belly first and screaming when things aren't going her way today. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come :headache:

Did I miss Tessa's report?

Hi Girls,
I really apprecaite you tormenting me with the airfares....I know...I know.... you are trying to help me out but those super cheap flights are NOT non-stop. Once you go to the non-stop ones the price goes more up to what my brother paid. Granted my brother still got screwed becasue he paid 287 and it was 219 but at least I am still using the miles and don't feel as bad about the money going out the door.....

Renee....RE: the 40% off code...I hate you! Bop!!!!!
Plus, if you can sign up for it (WDW) I do!! I have read thread after thread about it and I swear it has to do with if you have never been and where you live. They have so many people visiting from Chicago ( so much so we got our own DVC store in the area) that they don't target us with the "big" 40% one. One year I got the 20% off one but it didn't work out for us plus AAA is about that on room only.

And I ment when will kindergarten start?

Gotta run AGAIN...DD is done with dance and then we will hit the park. DH is off to ANOTHER Cubbies game tonight! Must be nice.
I'll be here!

Debbie - I promise I'm not trying to torment you - but I put Chicago to Orlando in my fare finder and I just got the alert today. I just thought if it did drop, would there be any way for you to cancel your frequent flyer miles from that ticket?

Anywho..... been painting. I think I'm gonna like it, too. Whew! Later!

I totally understood! No one here wants to push me over the ledge thank goodness!

Back out I go!
Just came in to turn on the LIVE365 and pipe it out the window. I totally need a lap top so I can be out with the kids and still chat! I am going to work on that!
It's 75 and sunny!

I was like, I answered that already. I put mid-April. DUH! It's mid August that he would start K - 2009.

I think you may be right. i think I have ordered that planning DVD every year since 2000. Then we booked at CBR in 2006 and ended up not going. They were probably like, come on already!

It is so nice here. My weather ticker is off. Maybe Cammie is on to something. It is sunny and 78! I think it said 73. It is so much warmer than that. Off to gather my stuff for the yard sale!

Martha - step away from Home Depot!

I know it's crazy! Maybe we should all lose the weather tickers for a while! It has been sunny and gorgous all day. The temp is dropping now but it's still beautiful. Spent a lot of time outside today!

Gotcha with the August date now I was confused with the April date (what's new?). See he will already be in school almost a month before you would be pulling him. No biggie. It would just have to be worth the free dining deal to ya because everyone who knows anything about that time keeps telling me it will be hot (which I love). My DH and DM will not love this. Oh well...FREE FOOD/ADRs baby!

I've ditched my weather thing - was never accurate!

Don't worry - I'll keep you guys posted on my weather conditions: when I'm cranky - assume it's crappy outside; when I'm happy - it's nice!

Tessa made a link on one of the other pages to her report. I can't remember which one though. We burn thru them so fast.

My interpretation of IRS code was that if the single item was greater than $500 it required an appraisal. There can be multiple donations under taht amount and they should qualify. Now I am basing my info off of what I have read in turbo tax and the tax code. I can't promise that it is 100% true.

That's me too!!!!!!

I may get rid of the weather thingy too. It makes y'all too mean when you see mine! :rotfl2:

Finished painting the entire foyer, I didn't realize how much trim work there was!!! It took me all day and then once I got the roller and brush all cleaned out I found a spot I missed! Aarrgghh!!! After 2 coats over the whole thing, I missed one lousy spot!

I wish I could take the laptop into the tub with me, cause that's where this Martha is headed! I can sure feel my age after a day like this!

Oh, get this. Are you sitting down? OK, so DH's family gets in two weeks from Saturday, right? Then we leave the next day at about 6 or 7am for the World. So tonight he informs me that his boss is flying all the GM's into Dallas a week from Thursday so they can all go golfing on Friday and fly home on Saturday. WTH??? So basically, his parents might get in on Saturday before he does!!!! I said, fine, but you're gonna be my B**** all this weekend to help me get ready! :rotfl2: I'll pack for him so that I know he will match (pathetic, huh?), but he will be a cleaning machine this weekend! Talk about crappy timing!

OK, off to soak my old tired bones. Later!

See, me not so much with the heat. I am honest when I say that if there hadn't been a cold front through when we were there, I'd been a little miserable. I didn't enjoy Sat at all. It was too d*** hot! I think it was 89 feeling like 99! So, I think that mid April or earlier - Maybe the first week of May but that is pushing it or October or later. I think the free dining is nice, but not nice enough to talk me into it.

Now the booze fest that Kara is going to, that might be an incentive! :rotfl2:

Generally in spring, I am ready to go, go, go. Come August, I just want it to cool off. Last summer we had a drought and I don't know how many 100+ days. It was hot! I can't see me wanting to jump back into that once it starts cooling a bit here!

Fall is my favorite time of year. I would like to do the MNSSHP. It sounds cool. DS would like that too. DD might :confused3

 On a side note, NANA came over today. I showed her the pics and told her that it was a shame that he'd always loved animals and all he could do on the Safari was worry about being bitten thanks to what Nana had told him. SHE LAUGHED:furious: I let it roll off. There really is no point.

Then she had the nerve to say she wanted us all to go together IN FRONT OF DS! :furious: Before we booked CBR in 2006, we offered to book the POLY, fly her and DSF there, & pay for their room at the Poly. All they had to cover was their food and we wanted them to let DS who was 2 at the time stay the night with them so we could do some adult things. It was for 4 nights. They said yes in the beginning, then said yes they would do it but would watch him naps only - no nights. Then it was down to one day, DH was about to flip. He finally said to put the whole trip off and we'd try it again later that year just to let that whole thing die down.

SO, based on that, she was offering DS for them to go, and us to pay. I told her that they were welcome to join us. That our stay at the Poly would be about $2100 and they should only have to pay a little less than that. Her eyes got huge when she heard we weren't paying for them. I bet that stopped that idea! Am I wrong here?

Are you wrong here? NO! NO! NO!

Seriously, I don't even know if I would go on vacation with this woman, considering how much she bugs you. The last place I want to be bugged is on my vacation. I know this may be easier said than done, but if your mom can't step up to the plate at home, she's not going to do it on vacation. Ditch her! Or, if she insists on coming, let her pay for her own way - that way it won't bother you too much when she disappoints you. All that being said, I know she's your mother and it's hard not to give her the benefit of the doubt. Just remember: put yourself and your family first!

And, regarding a booze fest, at Disney, you can make a boozefest whenever you want!

I guess I can put reading tax code on my to-do list now. If you are right, then that may be a really nice way to get rid of stuff after the yard sale! They'll be more than pleanty for both!

Nah, leave it. The tides are turning Missy. Soon we get to give you crap about the temps being so high! :rotfl2: Soon you'll be cooking eggs outside in 3.2 seconds.

What is up with men? That sounds like DH and totally make him do your bidding this weekend. SO.... what are you doing with the dishsoap? :lmao:

Oh, Cammie. I just lack the guts to tell her that to her face. There is NO WAY she will go. This woman will not pay more than $50 a night to stay somewhere. She isn't going to shell out $2k for a trip. No way. And us paying for her is an offer that expired.

When we got preg with DD, she told us that she would never watch them both at the same - so she'd never help us out at Disney. I'm shocked she is going to watch them for us to go away overnight. I'm very appreciative of that, but I hate when she promises DS things in front of him that she doesn't do. Now when we go to Disney, he will bring up why Nana isn't there. :sad2: I just don't understand why anyone would want to do that kind of stuff to a kid.

Oh and Cammie - on your booze it up anytime comment...
I fully plan to take advantage of the Monorail and be enjoying a trip around Epcot for some adult beverages. I might even make it a point to take a picture with Belle with my drink behind the stroller. Maybe that will become a new Thread tradition!

Although, the other night, everyone knows that practically after not drinking for the past 5 years, I was good and lit after one half of a glass. :lmao: Can you say Cheap Date?
