Okay, so Im trying to figure this out... thoughts are welcome. Originally I was going to paint it, but then decided to go cardstock/ribbon. It should look something like this once I seal it, but I need to shift the names down a bit. What do you think of the princess grouping?

The ribbon isn't going to be attached until after it is sealed. so it looks sloppier now than it will in the end.

Hum... I think that Belle and Cindy need a lip job - maybe a shade darker pink!

WOWWIE! I swonnie! Being from these here sticks, I culdn't magine that all them purdy lights wuld b so close to that there place! Lookey at how beutiful them are! I reckon I'd like to stay in one of them those mansions one day!:rotfl2:

Seriously, I never imagined it to be THAT close to DTD - wow!

I had things quoted, walked away, and now I don't remember what all I had marked -

Jillian - I've certainly dealt with the same things. When we finally sat down and talked about it after we picked at each other for a month - it turned out he was projecting on me because he felt like I was getting to experience all the firsts with the kids, and he was really missing out. I don't know what to say other than I've definately been there - and no it isn't fun. The job you are doing is so valuable! Seriously!

Cammie - I love the little quote - I actually remember that one! I'm so glad Amanda is doing better.

Tammie - My DSB that is going ot Iraq is PT National Guard now. He didn't think he'd have to go, but looks like they are.

Okay, I'm sure I was going to comment on more, but I can't remember now. I'm working on my canvas again today - and Mia's new bedding came in!

You are funny! :lmao: Thank you DSB from me. I'll be praying for him.

I'm sort of a stalker. But I'm fun so that's all that matters, right? :rotfl2:
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

LOVE THAT IDEA!!! We could all chime in hear and there - we should try to think of some ideas for a catchy title!!! Probably don't want to disclose the EXACT dates we're going. Let's start thinking of a title and maybe start it in a few months, once we've narrowed down some things?

That sounds good - with all the funny ones here, I know we'll come up with a great title.

Been there, done that. But it's a bit different. I do work, and up until about 2 years ago, we made almost the same income. So my job was really important to us and our standard of living. I'm fortunate that I can work from home now and so there is no after school care anymore, and I can be here for Ally, but when she was a baby, there were times it was sooooo hard to be a working mother.

Ask Mike, if you go back to work, is he going to be able to take time off work to stay home with Badookie if he's sick? Take time off for doctors appts? Cause you can't do it all, or your employer will think of you like my old boss did - that it's a mistake to hire mothers. Seriously, my boss understood, but he and I had that talk many times, and he's right! When both parents work, it's usually the mother that has to take off all the time for a sick child. And that is so unfair.

Also, I'm assuming that daycare in your area is around $200/wk? OK, let's go with that just for my example. That's $10K/year. Figure in your gas and car expenses. I know I'm saving over $3K/year by not working outside the home. Then there is wardrobe, eating out lunches, etc. So let's go with a conservative $15K/year that you would be spending, just to work outside the home. If Mike is not willing to share the stay at home responsibilities with you (oh, and for fun, throw in a cleaning lady twice a month at $100 each visit for a total of another $2400/year, cause if you're working you don't need to be cleaning!!!). So now we're at $17K/year. Again, is Mike going to help with laundry? How about staying home with Badookie? Cause if you go back to work, you want to go back as a good employee, not one that can't be counted on cause you never know when you'll be out for something child related. That's a big issue for me.

Oh, and he'd better be prepared to either help cook OR clean up after dinner each night.

So that's just my $.02. But you're not alone.....

Well said!

OK, I just got the evil eye from Jeff for not hanging out with him. But I have a very entertaining story about today.... It involves in-law math and this "halfway" point they picked to meet for the Ally exchange....

But Ally is home!!! :cloud9:

I'm glad your baby is back - no, I didn't say "baby got back!"

Cammie - catchy titles - hum.... I'll have to think on that one! What about "Scr*w the family, I'm taking my DIS buddies to Disney!" :rotfl2: :lmao: I'd give it less than 24 hours before the moderator shuts it down!

Seriously, you guys are much better at the whitty stuff than me - but I think writing one together would be fun. I never would go out and make one up on my own (because I see all the time you guys have to be putting into it) but I enjoy reading and putting in a comment here or there. So count me in - at least waiting until closer to the new year makes it "easier" - gives me some time to think on it! :)

Kara - aren't you close to getting Ally back home?

I'm still working on my project. I've been taking pictures during the process. I don't know why it is killing me that Cammie doesn't get what I'm doing, but come h*ll or highwater tonight, I'm going to make her get it! :rotfl2:

SO .... My Best Friend sells Stampin Up (scrapbook stuff) and wants me to have a party. I had been planning on having a Pampered Chef party since I want to get some pieces for my family for Christmas. Obviously, I can't be a party queen and have both - suggestions on what to do? I've tried to have a scrapbook party, and my circle just isn't in to doing it and won't come. :confused3 I don't want to hurt her feelings, so I"m thinking about "booking" one in two weeks and throwing my Pampered Chef party to the curb. :sad1:

Tell her you'll ask your friends to commit to that kind of event, and then if no one commits, you can tell her.

Okay so I just re-read your post and I skipped so much! YOU WROTE A NEWSLETTER???? Well, then you and Ms. Domestic Diva/English Major should be able to get a good one going for our trip!

Kara - just saw that Ally comes back tomorrow :cool1:

And I thought the SSR photos looked great! I like it being close to DTD. Don't really know what DTD is all about - but me close to a scrapbook store! J/K! (sorta) :lmao: So do they ferry you across or something? The property looks beautiful though.

DId I miss this anwer - is it the one with the SPA?

Tammie - you may know more about SSR since you "own" there.

Tammie & Cammie - if you used your family's points for any means of helping me out on this DIS trip I would kick your tooshies - Seriously - for YOUR FAMILY. Plus - maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but when you divide the room by 4, it gets cheaper than a Holiday Inn Express! :confused3 :rotfl2:

Yes, we own there and stayed there last June. I loved the way it was more quiet and away from all of the hustle and bustle after the parks, yet close to DTD too!

Great Pics Cammie! I'm glad Amanda is doing better - sounds like it was hard for her.

Hey - anyone know where you can get dental instruments?

I need one of those hook scrapers that they use for tarter.

Calm down Kara - it is for SCRAPBOOKING. The machine I have sells a kit that has that and other things I already have for $29. I don't want to buy it for that much when all I need is that hook pick.

Maybe Ebay?:confused3

Hum... I think that Belle and Cindy need a lip job - maybe a shade darker pink!

That is really cute - I agree Belle and Cindy need some lip gloss!

We had date night tonight.

Went to a new little family owned Italian place tonight - good food and very reasonable! A lot of restaurants don't do well here - we have a bazillion Mexican and Chinese ones, so I hope this one does okay. Looks like they had alot of repeat customers.

Then we went to see Hancock - I almost held out for Mama Mia, but I picked the movie the last time and Jim's knee is already hurting, I didn't want to give him a headache too! :goodvibes I thought it was kind of stupid, but Jim liked it. Some of it was funny and heartwarming.

Watching the Olympics while I DIS now... See you all tomorrow

Tina, sorry you're having a bad day.

Debbie come back!

Plus - maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but when you divide the room by 4, it gets cheaper than a Holiday Inn Express! :confused3 :rotfl2:

And once you stay at a HOliday Inn Express, you'll become an expert any anything!

Hey - anyone know where you can get dental instruments?

I'm not even gonna touch this one!!! :rolleyes1

I want to thank everyone for there 2 cents. I will be having the discussion with him tomorrow AM. For Mike it is all money related and when I went back to work after Badookie was born I was responsible for everything. I couldn't handle it anymore that is why I stayed at home. He just needs to get his act together.

Take him to a HOliday Inn Express, then he'll get it! :rotfl: Seriously, good luck! I know how stressful it is. My parents were both very upset with me when I went back to work after Ally was born. My mom was a SAHM until my sis and I were out of high school and they thought I should do the same. Plus, my sister gave up her job to stay home, and just picked up little part time jobs once the kids went to school. But selfishly, Jeff and I knew we wanted a larger home, and I would need to work for that. Plus, we want to be able to put money away for later, and my job helps us to do that too. The one good thing I will say about daycare (if you find a good one), is that Ally is much better adjusted than any of my nieces or nephews who either have never been to daycare (my sisters kids) or started really after they were two (my BSIL's oldest). Ally is very self assured, she can be thrown into a group of kids she doesn't know and within 15 minutes she has a new best friend.

And just because a daycare is expensive, doesn't make it the best. We found a privately owned daycare, one classroom for each age group (6 babies in nursery, 6 - 1 yr olds, 7 - 2's, etc....). This place did not have the fancy palm reader lock on the ourside door (like my BSIL's daycare) but it was clean, and the teachers all truly loved the kids! In fact, we still keep in touch with the nursery teacher, because for some reason, Ally really bonded with her from the day she started at 12 weeks old. Miss Linda is like a part of our family - just a round little old redneck woman (seriously!!!) who loved Ally like one of her own grandkids. And the families were all so close there. We had Ally's 3rd bday party at a park, invited all the kids in her class, plus a few others that were a year older, and had literally EVERY single kid from Ally's class showed up, plus others, and we had 10 3 and 4 year olds running around!!!

OK, so that was my pitch for daycare. It's not all bad.... Oh, and Ally was very well prepared for kindergarten too. ;) But that could just be her taking after her mama in the brains dept! :lmao:

A very exotic mixture - Water with ICE! :rotfl2:

That's what I should have had on Friday!!!! :rotfl2:

Need another laugh tonight ? I'm sitting here working on my Belle now, and there is a knat in here. Keeps buzzing around the computer. So I'm trying to clap my hands together & kill it. I think I've done it about 30 times. If someone were up here sitting on the couch, they'd think I have lost it! ONe minute I'm working on my stuff, the next I'm clapping my hands! :rotfl2:

I'm not going there.... ok, yes I am! "Clap on! (clap clap) Clap off! (clap clap).

Hum... I think that Belle and Cindy need a lip job - maybe a shade darker pink!

OK, I see waht you're making, but I just don't know what it's for - is it wall art?

Whew! Why did I copy so many posts so early in the morning???

Friday night was date night and eneded not so well. We had a nice dinner up at the clubhouse, I had a couple of glasses of wine, and then we ended up sitting out on the balcony with some other folks in the neighborhood, but only for about an hour or so. Next thing you know, my head started swimming, and Kara no feel so good. Let's just say, Jeff told me I'm a terrible date!!!! I really think I had some sort of weird reaction though, cause it happended so fast (and I really didn't drink that much!!!) and then I felt find the next day.

Yesterday, we were up at 6:30am to go get Ally! Now I knew the "midway" point that Jeff's parents had picked out was NOT midway, but I didn't make a big deal out of it. Until at 930am they called us to say they were there (we all left at 7am) and we were still 80 miles away!!!!! His dad was so mad, thinking we left late or something. I told him we left at 7:06 but that didn't seem to help so he said they'd keep on driving. So they called 20 minutes later to say they had pulled off an exit 20 minutes closer to us. So by now we're still about 50 or 60 miles away. But they wouldn't keep driving to meet us. Instead, they stopped, and just waited for us !!!!

Now I know that in their mind they think that will get them home quicker, even though they are wasting all this time just sitting there. Jeff was so fired up!!!

So we got home and mapped out the trip. It's 400 miles one way. So 200 miles would be the midway point, right? The original "midway" point they picked was only 160 miles for them, which made it 240 for us!!! Duh! Then they drove an extra 20 miles so they drove 180 miles and we drove 220. Double that for our round trip and we were on the road an extra 80 miles yesterday!!! And if they would have had their way, we would have had an extra 160!!!!

So now I call that "Inlaw math." Oh, and Jeff and I found the REAL halfway point on our way home. But his dad is soooo stubborn!

And then on the way home, Ally would not shut up!!! I was having so much fun with her, but Jeff was tired, he was driving, and he was losing his mind! Plus, he was stewing about his parents, who by just sitting at that exit and waiting 45 minutes for us, they made OUR trip so much longer!!! I thought he was gonna lose it.

She was so spoiled, too. She's got new jammies, a new outfit for school, new headbands, new puzzle, new noisy toys, new books, and more!

Y'all watching the Olympics??? My favorite!!! Love love love it!!!

OK, on to the trip planning. LOVE the idea of the PTR around the first of the year..... LOVE the pics of SSR - we have seen it and it looks beautiful, and love the location, too!

Kara, you really are a cheap date! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I'm glad you were okay.

About your ILs - I think when people get old, they just can't think straight - they get something in their heads and that's it. I go through stuff with my 'rents alot, and they used to be pretty rational. I'm glad Ally had a good time.:lovestruc

Renee SSR does have a spa. DTD is great dining options are fun and there is a ton of shopping. I have birnbaums guide and it explains everything. I suggest it. I love the title for the pre trippie

I want to thank everyone for there 2 cents. I will be having the discussion with him tomorrow AM. For Mike it is all money related and when I went back to work after Badookie was born I was responsible for everything. I couldn't handle it anymore that is why I stayed at home. Cammie- SSR is amazing LOVE the pics. Have we decided on any dates yet?

Kara- can't wait to hear about Ally's trip

Jillian - Good luck with Mike this A.M. Hope you can get through that thick skull of his!;)

It's looking like the dates for our DISmeet will be Sept. 18-20th. Am I right about that girls?

Kara - Inlaw math? I love it!:lmao: C'mon they're old. How can you expect them to be able to divide 400 by 2? Lesson learned for the next time: you and Jeff pick the meeting place. Hope you're feeling better today!

Renee - That princess thingy looks adorable! Ok - so what is it? At first, I thought it was a pillow, but now I'm thinking it's wall art? And, I agree also, Cindy and Belle need a lip liner and another coat of lipstick!

All right, so maybe today I'll make it to the gym; but it is looking pretty nice outside - think my deck chair is calling my name!:rolleyes1

Yep - wall art. Something to go over her changing table because when I went back to get the hutch when Nicolas got older - of course it had been discontinued and was gone. :sad1: So that wall needs something. I thought this might work on it above the changing table :confused3

I'm worried about lining wall are with ribbon - KWIM? At first I thought it would Princess it up a bit - but now... :confused3

I had thought about doing a four wall cluster of things, but Im afraid that wall would eat it up. It is a long stretch.

Kara - yeah, we have a little motor mouth too. And you are so right, when you aren't in the mood and he is chipper - WATCH OUT! Poor Jeff. :sad2:

Tammie - same thing here last night - but with kids. We waited 2 hours for food, and then left once very cold very nasty food was served. Then got a .69 bean burrito from Taco Bell. :rotfl2: Should've went their first. This place really needs to get their act together. That is the 3rd visit in 2 years - always the same.

Everyone - yep, I'm getting out the lipgloss :rotfl2: I'm just not too happy. Not sure what I'm going to do, but not happy.

Mia's bedding came in. Very cute. And the best suprise ever. Her comforter is two sided. The second side is solid pink! :cool1: I LIKE. I am working on it today.

Okay so here is my latest thought. I could use these four 8x10 canvases I have for another project. I could either do 4 princesses or 3 princesses and "Mia" or her initials.
IMG_8281.jpg

Major help needed - Pink w/ chocolate trim background, or white background?
IMG_8282.jpg

I don't know Renee. The pink might look too busy :confused3 We'll have to see what Martha says.

I can contribute some SSR pics too - I did stay there ;)

View from our room in Grandstand:

OOPS! I need my glasses - I didn't realize that was the parking lot! Ha!

Oh, honey, we're gonna have shirts!!! And anything else I can think of!!!!!

Tammie - that property is beautiful! YOu are one lucky duck to be a DVC memeber there! I'm sold!

That place definately gets my vote!!!!!

Kara is making stickers to go on our foreheads Cammie - did you miss the night we all agreed on that? :confused3 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

So, my mom comes over. Showed her what I was working on for Mias room. She basically poo-pooed all over it. :sad1:

Renee- I Love the Wall Art try swapping the princesses to the other side on the Large one? I think it may need some color even a really PALE Pink? What about a frame instead of the ribbon? Then you can decorate the frame. Or what about a Shadow box? You can add things as she grows?

Sept 18 to the 20th? Hmm I think I may stay a bit longer for me that is alot of money for a flight to have to turn around and fly back? Maybe I will do the 17th to the 20th? Something like that and go to the spa? Hmm I will have to think about it.

I'm trying to figure it out. I could add more princesses too. I have Ariel, Pocahontas, Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine and Mulan I could add. I could do a lot, but I think you are right about needing a background color. Too white. I might see what VOC free paint I can get at Home Depot. I think that is going to be easier/cheaper.
