Renee- I agree about a name is just a name ,but this time I really do love my maclaren. My aunt has the metrolite for her 40 lbs little man  He is only 20 months old. She hates it. I have a graco quattro too and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I am going to take that one with us this time since we will be in the park longer days and it lays flat. I am just afraid of going thru airport security it wont fit thru the Xray machine?
QUOTE]Jillian, :worship: I could reach through this computer and hug you! That was EXACTLY what I needed to hear. I was on the fence about the Metrolite because I LOVED my Quatro Tour so much with Nicolas. To know that your aunt hates hers and you love the Quatro, that makes it easier for me. I may just get the Maclaren tomorrow and then take the DuoGlider to Disney. After all, I did say I needed a small one to get into the stall with Nicolas - sometimes I get too carried away in analyzing stuff.

As far as the security issue - I wouldn't sweat it. You know we wouldn't be the first people to bring a big one through there. Besides, they probably just treat it like a wheelchair. :confused3 I'm not going to be swayed by that - they will find a way to get it through!

Cammie - of course once I made my mind up no Jogging stroller - you say that! PLEASE tell me I'm stupid to be swayed by the speaker thing. I think that is my draw! That and the air filled wheels, but the size really puts me off!

Now, I'm officially mad at you if you get to snatch Badookie up and love on him in Nov. BUT for some reason I was thinking that he wasn't going on this trip, so I guess I'll have to be mad at Jillian for getting to meet those precious girls of yours.

Just kiddin - but I am envious.

I need a DIS meetup for early May next year... anyone thinking about it????

Hi everyone! Good morning! Rise and Shining! (I know it isn't Disney, but I SO love Madagascar!) ;)

Here is a little glimps into what I did on my trip. I know it was a while ago, but things take me some time.

the stash that makes it all possible.
IMG_8022.jpg

We made this frame. It was from Ikea and just naked wood. We painted it, used glass tiles to make those little printed tiles you see, painted grunge board, etc for this one.
IMG_8018.jpg

This is a clear acrylic album we did
IMG_7986-1.jpg

Here is the album we made. It was plain cardboard, we added the a lace paper, chipboard letters, and the open handle.
IMG_7994.jpg

We painted coin holders, used stamps, used clear transparencies, mounted 8x10s on chipboard - some out of the box stuff.

IMG_7996.jpg

we used photo sleeves to put in a hidden protected journaling area

Question about the DisneyPhotoPass photobooks: am I understanding correctly that the more expensive one lets you use both your own pix AND photopass pix; the cheaper one is just for your own photos?

Ok - I'm off to do my next installment on my TR!

No, you can use your own photos no matter what (I think!). Cause we got the cheapest one for Jeff's parents and I uploaded quite a few of my own pics for it.

.

Kara- have you had anytime to relax since your house guests left?

NO! And I'm sick as a dog right now! The house is a wreck and I'm sneezing, congested, achy, yuck! I want pity!!!!

I need a DIS meetup for early May next year... anyone thinking about it????

We are seriously probably going for 5 or 6 days in early May next year! Let's see, first Laura, Debbie in Sept, Cammie and Jillian in November, Renee in May...... Next? :rotfl:

Renee - your scrapbooks look awesome! I wish I could do that.... I do the half a**ed version of that.... Looks good from afar but when you get up close, not so much.

OK, off to bed I think. Gonna call my boss and tell him I'm out today.

See if Jeff can get you some Ester C (super vitamin C) my SIL that works for the Critical Care - Medical side swares that she takes it when she gets the sniffles and it helps so much. I hope you get lots of rest today and feel better soon! YOu poor thing! Even your posts show how rotten you feel. :sad2:

Looks like we got another Martha on our thread!

Seriously, Renee - those albums look great! I wish I had the patience and creativity to do such things!

Kara - Hope you feel better soon!

For the photopass books, I know I can use my own photos for whatever I choose; I was wondering if I wanted to use the photopass pix also - I'm assuming that means I have to purchase the "professional" book - which is $20 more.

Allright - I'm off to wake my sleeping child. I'm determined to not let her be a complete lazy-bones this summer and want her going for walks with me every morning; then it's on to the pediatrician for her physical -- and three shots! (including the Gardisil(sp?) one!:scared1: ) My poor baby! She's in a funk about her dad lately too; think this is a result of him bringing the wife to NYC w/them last week. Which leads me to something I'll let you all in on......

Lauren really loves music and likes to dance; often she'll go down into our finished basement, blast her favorite music and create her own dance moves. So, at 8pm last night, she tells me she needs to go downstairs and groove for a little while. So I hear the music, but I also hear her talking, sometimes loudly. I didn't know if she was on her cell phone or just play acting. But I wasn't going to eavsdrop. About an hour later, I call her upstairs and we soon head to bed. I asked her who she was talking to; she gets all embarassed and then tells me that she sometimes pretends to be talking to her dad on her play phone. She has the pretend arguements with him and tells him all the things she's ever felt like saying to him but feels she can't!:sad1: That's not too weird, right? I mean, I compare it to when people tell you to write someone you're mad at a letter, then don't send it - just feel relieved to get those feelings off your chest. But I feel so bad for her! She's never going to feel the same way about her dad again; I just hope this doesn't screw her up with men for the rest of her life!:sad2:

Cammie - oh, poor Lauren! I think it's healthy that she "play" talks to him, and even more so that she told you about it!!!! I'm sure she'll be fine later on, and as she gets older hopefully she'll be more aggressive about telling him how she feels.

OK, now that I've said my peace, I really AM off to bed!

Renee- I will have to see if I can convince DH to go to Disney in May. I think that will be a great time of year. I am sure it will be a NO but we will have to see. My parents were thinking April so we will have to see. I am glad I could help.

Kara- Get right to bed and get some rest. We want you to feel better real soon:flower3:

Badookie will be making this trip with us I just cannot leave him for 8 days and now that he is walking I think it will be so much fun.

Good Morning everyone!

Renee, we just took a double jogging stroller to DL - loved it! It was so easy to maneuver - it was no problem for getting through gates, and the airlines told them yesterday that they can check it at the gate for their upcoming Texas trip, so no prob there. At California Adventure, however, it was too wide to fit through the exit gate, so they had to get a CM to unlock the gate. It is very heavy to fold up and lift - I can't do it by myself :) As Myles was afraid of the monorail, we didn't try the quick fold get on the transport stuff, so I don't know how that would have worked. Also, when you rent, you have to carry sleeping kids and lots of stuff for a long way to the bus or parking lot from the stroller return. That's why we brought our own - long way to the hotel without one....

Oh, and I love your scrapbook closet and the projects you did!

Cammie, I agree with Kara - I think the fact that Lauren found a way to get her feelings out and is open to talking about it is healthy. It's too bad he's missing out on a great relationship with a great girl!

Hi Jillian!

Kara, I hope you feel better real soon!

Debbie, are you back yet?

Hi Pam, Tessa, Erin, Tina, Laura, Whip, Keahi - everyone else!

I'll try to get some of my TR done today.

Tammie - Good point about having your own stroller to transport sleeping kids from the bus back to the room - didn't think about that! I've seen many a parent struggle with that after a long day.

Back from our walk; now off to the pediatrician. Later!

OK, now that I've said my peace, I really AM off to bed!
Stop DISing and get some rest!!!! You "sound" so unlike Kara. Makes me want to come there and make you soup! REST! NOW!

Renee- I will have to see if I can convince DH to go to Disney in May. My parents were thinking April so we will have to see. Badookie will be making this trip
 So I do have to be mad at Cammie then... :lmao:
I need to find a pic of Nicolas at that age, just the hair, eyes and cheeks - takes me back. Oh that would be so cool if you could go in May. I was thinking the first week in May or the second (which is mother's day weekend btw). April was great outside the cold snap we had, but Easter is mid-April next year and I've heard do not go if you have to within two weeks of it. I think there was a huge difference in the crowds from your trip to mine, and wasn't that just a few days? We were there April 12-15.

Yeah, that scrapbook closet. I was thinking today that is probably a nice little stay at GF :sad2: by the time you add it all up. :headache: But I do enjoy it. Thanks for the tips on the stroller. I'll post more about that in a sec....

Cammie - me Martha... :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:
I seriously need to take some photos of my house & yard. That will squash that REAL quick!

As for Lauren - she is SMART! How many people go to therapy to have the therapist say write it down and throw it away. She is doing a version of that, and you know what, she is not bottling it up, she is getting it off her chest, she isn't going to have headaches, highbloodpressure or God knows what else because she is getting it out! GOOOD FOR LAUREN! :cheer2: I say no it isn't normal - BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE WOULDN"T DO IT! It is SO SMART! I seriously wouldn't worry.

Now, not for your exbuttface's :snooty: sake, but for Lauren's, I'd like to suggest it might be worth a private talk between you and your "ex" to tell him that she is upset and that he should NOT disclose you had that chat, but A)- might want to spend a little more quality vs quanity time with her, and B)- give her a little one on one time. It could be nothing more than she is bummed out about the latest two of us trip that turned into 3, or it could run deeper, but for Lauren's sake, anything you can do to maybe facilitate some of that hurt not being there would be good for her. KWIM? (see, I can learn too! :))

As far as your photobook question, so I logged into my account and found the two types the offer...
** Professional Photobook - 69.99
1. Unlimited use of ALL photos (I view that as Disney Photopass shots like the castle, etc, your photopass shots, and the shots you uploaded from your camera)
2. Sewn & Bound Premium Padded Charcoal Hard Cover (Padded is nicer)
3. Personalized foil stamped cover (Can get this done for about $10)

**Personal Photobook - 49.99
1. Unlimited use of my uploaded photos (just the ones you uploaded from your camera, I think)
2. Sewn & bound with Deluxe black hard cover (no padding, just hard cover probably covered with a paper. I'm thinking like EK Success ones probably)

SO being the overly nutty analitical type, I go in and try to create a dummy Personal Photobook, and POOF there is our answer to the side "Upgrade Your Photobook! To use Disney's Photopass and Photo Gallery photos in your book, upgrade to Disney's Professional Photobook!"

So there you go....

All of you were so kind with your thoughts :goodvibes so I went to Babies R Us about obsessing over the computer yesterday, armed with a $20 off and a 15% coupon that they let me combine:woohoo:

I also took two testers - Nicolas and Mia. Here is what I found...
:teacher:

Jeep Jogging stroller - heavy as all get out, the front wheel would only go straight and my BFF said that stearing that type is a pain. She had one.

Baby Trend Jogging Strollers - 3 different styles. Front Wheel did swivel, and boy were Kara & Cammie right - pushed like air. Unfort. though, it had this rear tipping issue. I could put just a slight bit of pressure down on the back and up the front would go. That, it was big, and heavier than my son (well, not really, but it was heavy) made me think I'd pass.

Maclaren - Triumph, didn't recline enough, and the wheels did click. NOPE.

Graco OPI - Maclaren knock off, nope, too shotty.

Chicco - nope. back reclines via a strap.

SO... it came down to the Maclaren Quest and the Graco Metrolite. Hide your eyes now Jillian. I got the Graco. BOTH kids liked it better - :confused3 Mia was constantly pointing at it and wanting in. She constantly wanted out of the others. Maybe because it felt more like a spacious recline. :confused3 It did lay a LOT flatter than the Mac. They performed about the same, Graco taking up a bit more room, but not much folded - but it stands upright when folded... hummmm.... The winning thing for me was Mia wanted to be held so big boy hopped in for a ride. I could handle one handed them both, but the Graco was tons easier to turn. It had a bigger basket, larger canopy, snack tray for kiddo and mom. LOVED IT. The kids loved it, so I snagged one for $80 by the time I was done with the coupons.

Jillian - FYI, there are several versions of the Metrolite out. The newest one, the one I got, I think is platinum. Anyway, it is a scaled down Quatro. Same everything, just mini and so light that I put it back up on the waist high display while holding Mia in my right arm and lifting it with my left - no problem.

I still have the Graco Duo Glider for Disney. I figure we can take that or the broken Eurotrend (which is just a knock off of the Mac that doesn't recline) and just figure a way to hold it together and the small graco or the double stroller. But when it is just us here, doing "girl" time or quick errands, I'll be using the Metro. Nice thing is I have a minivan. I could seriously have 3 double strollers in my trunk and still have room for groceries, so space isn't as much of an issue for me as it was when I had a Civic.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for chiming in. I just had to tell you what I got and why since you were so nice to help!!!! :grouphug:

Renee - so glad I could help with the stroller issue! :rotfl2: Seriously, all I ever had was the big clunky Graco but it worked great for us when Ally was a baby. I don't think she's used a stroller since she was about 3ish. Very independent.

Stop DISing and get some rest!!!! You "sound" so unlike Kara. Makes me want to come there and make you soup! REST! NOW!

I tried! I went up to the guest room and tried to sleep. The darn phone kept ringing. I can't figure out how to turn it off!!!! And I can't take it off the hook cause my work calls come through there, too. When I answer it says "Got V-Mail - press one to accept, or 2 to send to voice mail." That way I know if it's a personal call or business call. But I can't turn it off during the day!!!!

I need to find a pic of Nicolas at that age, just the hair, eyes and cheeks - takes me back. Oh that would be so cool if you could go in May. I was thinking the first week in May or the second (which is mother's day weekend btw). I think there was a huge difference in the crowds from your trip to mine, and wasn't that just a few days? We were there April 12-15.

When did you go Jillian? We were there this year May 4-10 and it seemed more crowded the first couple of days, than it had in years past. But that's cause we were at "RED" parks, per TGM. I already had all of our ADRs before a copy of the TGM schedule fell into my lap ;) and so I only did a little bit of altering the schedule. When he said "Green" he was right. When he said "Red" he was right. "Yellow" wasn't a big deal. But so far, early May is my favorite time at WDW. We'll see about September and November this year.

Yeah, that scrapbook closet. I was thinking today that is probably a nice little stay at GF :sad2: by the time you add it all up. :headache: But I do enjoy it. Thanks for the tips on the stroller. I'll post more about that in a sec....

I so totally agree 150%! And it seems like you have the kind of relationship with him that you could do this, for the sake of the kids. But because I don't feel well, he is heretofore to be referred to as exa$$face! :rotfl2:

Ah, yes, now I remember!

So there you go....

I just saw that Primeval Whirl is going to be under rehab while Ally and I are there in November. I have never been on that for some reason, and thought she'd love it - she's 47 1/2" tall now so she should make the 48" by then. I'm going to wait and let Jeff take her on Rock n Rollercoaster, but I'll take her on Dinosaur. I think those are the only 3 that she hasn't done yet..... My little adrenaline junkie! :thumbsup2

Anyone know when the new Disney princess Halloween costumes come out? I wanna get her one with a winter cape this year, so she can wear it at Disney, and probably for Halloween too. I really want her to be something other than a princess for Halloween, but I've lost that battle since she was a 2 1/2! Generic princess that year, then Cindy at 3, Sleeping Beauty at 4, Belle at 5, oh, then last year I sorta won and she was Scarlett O'Hara! That was actually kinda fun. But why won't she be a hobo, or a pirate, or a cowgirl??? My favorite costume when I was a kid was a die (as in dice). It was hysterical! Also, a gypsy, hobo, pirate - anything that let me play in my mom's makeup and costume jewelry. But my mom was great at making my custumes, too. My sis does the same things. I'd rather buy them and go from there. Why am I talking about Halloween in July?
16.gif
Why don't I just go back to bed?
3.gif
Why doesn't the guy building the screen put his shirt back on!
7.gif
Why?????????

OK, gone again.....

I love everyone's scrapbooking!!! For some reason I can't get into it. I've bought the album and even some paper, but for some reason my creativity genes stop when I look at it. I do better sewing then scrapbooking.

You ladies are wonderfull with your scrapbooking pages and albums!!

renee congrats on the stroller purchase. Who know there could be so many options out there. your scrapbook closet is awesome!

Tina- I have all the supplies for the books but I haven't completed any.

Cammie- lauren is a smart girl. Letting it out in some form or another is great therapy. Like was it was mentioned before if you can metuon it to your ex it might give him some insight that he never could find on his own. Good luck

Kara isn't well. Hoepfully you are asleep now. Get better. We need good FL monkey stories :)

Tim has decided we need to take a trip for our 10th anniversary. I offered up WDW. He turned that down. He wants something more adult-no kids. He is thinking a couples resort in Jamica or Mexico. I thought a qiuck trip to Vegas but he wantes something more subdued. Do you guys have any suggestions? We're looking late Oct early Nov. I'm not sure what we will do with the girls. I hate leaving them.

Oh my - so many posts to reply too!!!

First of all, Renee - you're a doll! Did you actually go through the photopass site and pretend to put an album together just to figure out the cost for me? Way above and beyond the call of duty - you're a good friend and thanks for the info!

Re: the stroller info. Sorry I couldn't be of assistance; but listening to your dilemna had me actually missing those baby days! I hope your choice works out well for you!

Tina - I think you do just fine with the sewing; no need to tackle any other crafty projects!;)

Laura - Well, I'm sorry, but I'm still going to suggest a Disney vacation for you and Tim! It can totally be an adult vacation: go to a spa; lounge by the pool; enjoy fine dining and drinking; hit the nightlife at Pleasure Island or the BW; shop. You could also do those special tours that aren't real kid-friendly - Keys to the Kingdom; Segway. Could rent boats or waterskis; book a lesson to swim with some fish (I think they do this at the Seas in Epcot). Enough to persuade your hubby?

Laura, this is our 10th shacking up anniversary, but 8th wedding. SO... I've been thinking and I'm NOT asking about the trip. I'm planning. I am just going to do a suprise trip! I'm thinking a day at discovery cove, maybe just a long weekend, eating at some of the nice rest, staying at the BW, boozing it up, sleeping in. Kids with grandparents - maybe SIL.

HOWEVER, sounds like Jeff has already shut that one down. Well, you have hurricane season around that time, so keep that in mind. My SIL went to the DR last year and loved it, but the beach was rocky. Hear lovely things about Cabo, we visited the Mayan Riveria in Mexico and LOVED it, but since I think they have had some destructive storms so I'm not sure of the condition, HUMMMM.... The keys? Vegas was nice two Novembers ago. Not too hot, just nice, that was a good time. We watched "O", but there are some other good ones there. NYC should be nice that time of year too. What are you guys really want. Just peaceful, no paced relaxing is probably a beach trip. Then again, I dunno Laura, leaving Beth and Katherine to go out of the country might ruin it for you. :confused3

I'm no help!

Cammie - I did. Before you call me a doll, though, read your TR. I'm totally wearing a team Lauren shirt now!

Laura - SO AGREEING with Cammie. SELL HIM ON IT! There are so many cool things - the driving school thing, they actually let you snorkle or scuba in the tank in EPCOT reasonably - I think $75 or $100. Swimming with Rays and Dolphins and whatever else at Discovery Cove (pricy, but worth a adults only splurge), Dinner at CA grill with fireworks while you dine, EATING A HOT MEAL IN DISNEY! :rotfl:, Downtown Disney (we aren't dancers, but a nice Comedy show would be fun), then Cirque, Shopping, Drinking, Sleeping in, No driving,.... :rolleyes1

Ok, so grab a chair and let's discuss this ex issue:

Do you know how many times I have tried to "advise" him since he left five years ago? At first, I was constantly telling him what to do to give the girls what they needed. He would follow through for a couple of weeks, then resort back to his own selfish ways. It frustrated me so much, but I kept on him because I figured if I could spare the girls the pain and disappointment I needed to stay on top of him.

I was still in therapy when I first separated and I would talk to my therapist about this. You know what she said? I'm no longer responsible for his emotional relationship with his children. HE needed to take the responsibility on his own. She said it's one of the biggest problems men have when they divorce; they never realize how much they counted on their wives to keep them emotionally-connected to their children; and when they divorce, most of them are left floundering.

So, if I have this talk with butt-head, w/out telling DDs; and tell him to spend alone time with them - it's really all just fake. DD NEEDS him to WANT to spend time alone with them; I shouldn't have to tell him. And, it may make them feel better if it's just the three of them on this trip; but the truth will continue to present itself in the daily things they do when he never initiates alone time with them on his own. I can't change who he is or what he's become. It's sad but shouldn't the girls come to accept this about him?

It is this issue that stops me from having a discussion with him, once again! So what do you think now? Thanks for listening; you can now discuss and get back to me!;)

Cammie - I did. Before you call me a doll, though, read your TR. I'm totally wearing a team Lauren shirt now!

Laura - DISNEY! DISNEY! DISNEY!
