Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too (Part 2)

Well, no return call from the school about the storm situation yesterday. I'm still so steamed about that! :furious: But I'm not finished with them yet.

Then I got a call from my girlfriend at my old job yesterday - so much crap going on there and I feel so bad for all the good people that still work there. Apparently they just promoted some girl who's been there for 6 months - to the Key Accounts Manager. There are so many other people who have been there for years that would have been great in that role, but there is a big conspiracy there (I know that sounds a bit dramatic but I swear it's true!). And I have to deal with them on a daily basis cause they are a big supplier of my current company. But they have gone from the "best" wholesaler in the southeast to the kind of company that makes people sneer. It's very sad.

Pam - love the pics!!! Your DD is so cute! What a great turnout for her party!

Cammie - I know what you mean about Lauren. Every day Ally does or says something that just breaks my heart cause she's getting so old. And the older she gets, that means, YIKES, that I'm getting older too! :scared1: Although, the older she gets, the "cooler" she gets as a little person, kwim?

Debbie - I know you're gonna check in on us!!!! I went upstairs this morning to clean the bathrooms and I about threw up! The guest room toilet was clogged last week and I asked Jeff to fix it. Which he did, but then he didn't flush it again. Then when the dog poo pooed up there this weekend, Ally tried to clean off the little rug he pooped on by dumping it in the toilet. Well it went everywhere! OK, hope y'all already ate breakfast after this tale! I was so mad I screamed at both of them!!!

Kari - Whoa!!! We should feel honored to have you on our little thread! :worship: Even if you did almost cause my hubby to divorce me, cause I just HAD to print out more and more of your awesome designs.... :rotfl2:

Renee - Are you still here? If so, have a great trip! Hope you're feeling better!

Jillian - I'm still working on getting you another horse design on the Mickey head - in fact, I think I asked Kari about it!!!!!

Laura, Tammie, Pam2, Tessa, Erin - Hope y'all are having a good day!

:wave2: Hi guys!!

Hi Kari!:wave2: My good buddies here have introduced me to your wonderful world of designs! I've been going to WDW for 10 straight years now and have never made shirts for all of us. Thanks to your designs, and the help of some friends here, I'm finally doing it this year!

Hope you can stick around and enjoy the fun here!

Hey girls! Another day being spent at home; allergies really bothering Amanda yesterday. She did not have a good night, so I was a good mommy and just tucked her back into her comfy bed this morning. So I'll be probably be around here today. (just like I know you will Debbie - you can't stay away!)

Kara - Give the school heck! I'd be furious too! And if you don't call them on their mistakes, how will they know what to do for the next time!

Renee - Hope you're feeling better and get to have a good trip!

Jillian - Thanks for mentioning the Bath & Bodyworks sale. I had gotten the card in the mail and then tucked it away. I have to get there by tomorrow to stock up! Good deals!:thumbsup2

Pam - Yes, my youngest is 12 ...... going on 20! Seriously, do you guys ever just stare at your kids in amazement and just think, "God, I can't believe I that came from me?" And now she's becoming a young adult! We do get along great but I can't help to think, in the back of my mind, that in six years she'll be going to college!:faint: I cannot imagine that child not being a part of my everyday life. Man, am I going to need therapy when that day comes!:worried:

Tammie - Sorry DGS had a tough time at amusement park. I'll go post on your trippie though (we had a similiar problem with Lauren are first year at WDW).

Hi to Erin, Tessa, Pam2, Tina, Laura! I'll be back later!

Debbie - Tell me more about Sunshine rewards!!!!

Cammie - I often sit in amazement also that I created this perfect little creature. Well, she IS perfect in my book! :rotfl: Even with the little mouth she is developing! That is my biggest pet peeve with this age! That and the fact that she is a slob! I can tell her to do something 15 times and she still "forgets." Drives me nuts!!!!!

Today is her last full day of school. Tomorrow they go from 8:30 - 10:45 and the teacher told them to bring board games. Now what is the point in two hours for them to play board games???

I just ran down to my neighbor's house and I'm so embarassed! Her house looks like a model home - spotless! And she has a 4 year old and an 8 year old! Why can't I do that??? Also, she gave me some pure tea tree oil for Ally's little bug problem. Anyone know how much to put in her shampoo? Tessa? Erin??

Just wait until the teen years!

Seriously, I know people like this and I guarantee you the people in that house are miserable. A spotless house is usually hiding much deeper problems! C'mon - Bree from Desperated Housewives is the perfect example! The rest of us have messy, unorganized houses because we're living life and giving attention to the more important things!:thumbsup2

(That's my story and I'm sticking to it!)

OK, I like that idea! I think I'm much more of a cross between Lynette and Susan. Scatterbrained and a horrible housekeeper/cook like Susan, but brain fried and yelling at kids like Lynette!

However, my Bree side is going to come out now. I HAVE to share this recipe that I made last night for Southwestern Stuffed Peppers! It was so good and Jeff declared it a "keeper."

1 lb lean ground beef
1/4 c chopped onions
1 pckg taco seasoning mix (I made my own, see below!)
1 egg beaten
2 cups cooked rice
4-6 bell peppers
1 (19 oz) can diced tomatoes
1 (16 oz) jar salsa
shredded cheddar chees
sour cream

1. Combine beef, onion, seasoning mix and egg in large bowl.
2. Add rice and mix well.
3. Cut peppers in half lengthwise; remove seeds and membrane.
4. Spread tomatoes on bottom of baking dish. The liquid from the tomatoes will reduce during cooking so if you like lots of sauce you may want to add more water. This also makes the peppers softer.
5. Place peppers, cut side up, on top of the tomatoes.
6. Spoon beef mixture into pepper, mounding up as necessary.
7. Top each pepper with salsa.
8. Bake at 375 deg for 40-45 minutes or until beef is cooked thoroughly and peppers are soft.
9. cover each pepper with cheese and return to oven, under broiler, until cheese melts - only about a minute!
10. Serve with sour cream and additional salsa.

Taco Seasoning Mix (great to keep on hand!)
2t instant minced onion
1t chili powder
1/2t crushed red pepper
1/4 t oregano
1t salt
1/2t cornstarch
1/2 t instant minced garlic
1/2 t cumin

OK, that was my Bree moment of the day. Seriously though, I whipped this up in about 10 minutes and threw in the oven. Very yummy! AND about 400 calories per serving (which is 2 pepper halves!), 12 grams fat and 6 grams fiber! Not bad, huh?

Hi Kara - sorry can't advise on tea tree oil - I don't really like the smell that much, so have gone off it...

The leeks- sorry, I just tend to throw together stuff and mostly it works....

Leeky mash is literally 2 or 3 leeks washed, chopped (into rings - use all the white and a good bit of the green too) , softened (ie heated in a frying pan) in a little butter/olive oil (2 tablespoons) and mixed into your usual amount of mashed potato. Then heat some butter/oil (tablespoon or 2) in a frying pan and warm the whole mixture through (5 min if warm mash, 20 min if from the fridge) , finish with the heat up high to get lots of brown crispy tasty bits round the edge..

Shepherd's pie - take any recipe from online, then before you top the meat with mash put about 3 large washed, chopped, softened leeks in between - so on top of meat - then put mashed potato on top.... Hope the peppers were nice....

Oh, and my house is always a mess - and I only work an hour a day!!!! I agree with Cammie :goodvibes- life is too short!!

Tessa

I know...I know...I am here...
I guess I'll just try and be quick!

Kara...I would be mad at that school still tooo...the recipe looks yummy but my PITA DH would never eat it!, how's the lice situation, isn't it cool to see rumbly stop by...I invited her, the dynamics of the work place is not something I don't long for let me tell ya, I am embarrassed of my home every day of my life. my DD already has a terrible mouth on her that we are dealing with and she is 5!!!!!!

Sunshine Rewards...Are you familiar with UPromise. It's like that but instead of money fro college you just earn money to get gift cards with and DISNEY is one of the gift cards. All you have to do is click on that link I sent, sign up and then before you shop on line you make sure that you shop through their website first. Meaning...you go to Sunshine, click on your store, shop and they send you rewards! That's it! Of course there is a bunch of other stuff you can do for money as well but I only really do quick survey here and there and mostly shop through there. Disneyshopping is one store for sure I order on-line from that's there along with Walmart, Garden's Alive, ToysRUs, etc.......IMO IF you shop on-line it's a no brainer (unless you do this same kind of thing through somewhere else like UPromise)
Tammie...don't forget you're signed up there!

Hi Cammie....sorry about the allergy situation. Such a bummer. You are a great Mommy.

Tammie...Too bad on the WDW "conditioning". I will be going to Naples Florida Friday to the next Friday.

Renee... Have a great TRIP!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tessa.....Have we heard yet how the back is holding up?

OK, Debbie, I'm sold! I'm going to go sign up now!

Cammie, yes I made my own taco seasoning, and it's better than Senora Ortega! :rotfl2:

Tessa - oh, thank you for the leeky mash recipe! I'm going to make it tomorrow night - looks really yummy! And now I need to find a good shepherd's pie recipe, too! Thank you thank you!

hello there--

MMMM stuffed peppers sound good. Tim would love those. I agree with Cammie. Ms Ortega and Ms Schilling and Ms. Knorr are my favorite kitchen helpers. :rotfl:

I am dreading the day Beth hits the teen years. Last night we were having an issue before soccer. Tim told her he was going to take away the TV. She said Fine. I think I saw flames shoot out of his eyes. :furious: Sent her to the bathroom for some time to herself. A totally different child came out. The power of poo. Did I share that we have to make have BM everyday or she'll forget? That's a part of her issue with the spina bifida occulta she has. It has gotten markedly better but I am hoping that someday she'll just decided/remember to go on her own. Miralax is awesome. Okay enough poo.

Happy early birthday Debbie!

Ready for this one....last night after Katherine had gotten up for the 3 rd time. I hear police sirens. They were getting closer. We live near a freeway so I figured that's what it was but they continued to get closer so I open the window. I see a car go speeding down my block with two patrol cars in quick succession. We do not have a lot of thru streets in our neighborhood so if you are in my neighborhood you generally have a reason to be here. At the end of my block is a cul-de-sac. We don't get traffic. So I thought it was odd and laid back down only to hear the sirens getting closer again. We both get up and look out the window the car now turns toward the dead end street. There are more police following him. 15 squads come racing down my block sirens raring. I heard a bit of the yelling but they caught the guy. Tim went out to catch up with neighbors that have gathered. I was freaking out thinking it is some really bad guy that did something awful. Of course Beth and Katherine wake up. Beth is asking all sorts of questions like what did he do, where is he going to go and is he going to get in trouble. Great teaching moment at 1:30 am. Told her not to worry and get them back to bed. Tim comes in and it turns out the guy had violated his order of protection his ex-wife had taken out on him and he ran so he wouldn't get caught. Duh never run from the police. I just kept thinking I have to move, I have to move. We said domestics can happen anywhere. I was relieved that it was just that. I have never in my life seen so many police in one place. So I'm dragging a bit this morning and Beth is really tired. I wouldn't be surprise if she fell asleep during their rest period. Oh the excitement.

I am bound and determined to finish moving the playroom today. I'm trying to limit my Dis time to get that done.

Hi Laura!!!!!! Crazy night huh! Glad it wasn't worse than that! Like you said domestics can happen anywhere. And I always say lots of stuff happens everywhere! There is no "magical place" to avoid everything. Every town has different kinds of problems. The rich kids in our rich suberbs are some of the worst! They don't even know how to entertain themselves or make themselves happy so DRUGS it is!
That's why I want to live in DISNEY!!
Speaking of that...MY Dfriends DH signed himself out!:scared1: Hitched a ride from someone and came home. She is mad but his excuse is that his Grandma is dying (which is true) and he has to be with her! This just is headed nowhere and I am the type who only has so much patience for this kind of stuff...I know that sounds horrible of me but you know how it is when you are asked for help, advice, whatever and then nothing EVER changes....it gets old, right? Am I a terrible person?

Here is my new project.......

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1844246

Forgive me for not being caught up on the reading. I do hope everyone is doing well though!

I went to the ENT yesterday. Finished the antibiotic yest. Did xrays. My right side is still very infected. On a 10 day course of more antibiotics and I won't be off them until it is cleared up. On day 10 I go back in for a recheck. He gave me darvocet for pain, and changed up the meds - dropping the allergy med for now. My ear and teeth hurt and my eye duct feels clogged but it is all pressure from the infection. Interestingly, he thinks I haven't had 4 this year, but just one that hasn't been treated properly. So, here is to him getting me well. Love him.

He stopped short of telling me not to fly. I told him why and that this was a once in a lifetime thing for me, so he agreed, just said to do Afrin and darvocet before I get on the plane. Lovely.

So, I leave in the morning - hope I feel better soon. Pretty miserable. So there is my update. Hope everyone is doing well,n next week!atch you all when I get back in town next week!

What stupid bad luck! I hope there is a miracle over night and you are 100% but in the mean time I hope you can still manage to have fun and enjoy this trip.

Renee - You poor thing! I hope you're feeling well enough to at least enjoy yourself. You deserve it!

Renee...so sorry you have to go through this. Hope you feel better soon!:goodvibes

Cammie...yep 12 going on 20. Mine too. DD wants a little more independence, and can have little, but not much. I am surprised at how some parents will let their kids do things. I a m just so scared something would happen to my DD. There are weirdos everywhere. I don't know how we'll get through the teen years. WHere I come from they still leave their keys in the cars at night. Not here. I am smack dab in between D.C. and Richmond so either way it's only an hours drive. I have to start praying now. :)

Let's see which Desperate Housewife am I? I'd say a cross between Lynette & Bree. I am a fun, outgoing, take charge person who gets overwhelmed at times, but am a really good cook (not tooting my own horn). The cleaning part..I leave that for DH.

You made your own taco seasoning?!:scared1:

I let Mrs. "Ortega" make mine!:rotfl2:
Cammie- She is just trying to show us all up :lmao: :rotfl2:

I agree though I am a fan of Mrs. Dash and Ortega I will try this recipe.

Renee- Get a letter from you Doc stating why you are on the Meds. You just don't want the flight attendents to say you are drunk. My Aunt is an FA and it has happened more than you know.
I hope you have a safe and great trip please feel better and go out and get yourself a heat pack that can be placed in the microwave they help a ton. Also use a little ocean spray and blow your nose then use the afrin it will allow the afrin to get where it needs to. Can you tell I have been thru this before?

Kara- Thank you for asking about the DISigns She will be so excited. You really are wonderful.

Laura- We live in Lynn MA. ever hear the Rhyme Lynn Lynn the city of Sin?
Well we have our fair share of police chases etc... We live in a great area not near the center of the city at all but things tend to flow this way.

Kara- Sunshine rewards is great I use it whenever I order online. Like I will in a few Mins. Everytime you order from the Disney Store etc. you earn a percentage.

Hello all! I just designed and ordered a photopass book for us - the one for Jeff's parents came out so nice, that I did one for us and made it 30 pages. I'll post some pics when it comes in. Jeff was so mad that his sis wouldn't add any pages to the one we got his parents! Oh, and she keeps calling Jeff's mom asking her why I haven't mailed her photopass cd. Hmmm... could it be because she still hasn't paid me????

It's getting cloudy again, hopefully not another round of boomers!

Laura - wow, sounds like a little excitement, huh? It could have been worse, WE could have seen it all on TV - now that would have been big stuff! Glad everything is okay - and you're so right about "it can happen anywhere." It does!

Jillian - yes, try the taco seasoning! That way I won't be the only one to "show you up!" :rotfl2: C'mon, bring out the Bree in you!

Pam - I so agree with you on the issues with kids. Ally is 7 and she went to a movie with a friend the other week. The mother asked me afterward if we let her see PG13 movies. Apparently she asked Ally if we let her watch "movies that have bad words." Now I'm no prude, but if you have to ask, why would you take someone else's child to that kind of movie? Luckily they didn't but if I remember right it is NOT a movie that I would have taken Ally to see.

Renee - so glad the doc finally has things under control - just don't want to see YOU on the news tomorrow night as the plane has to make an emergency landing for an unruly "drunk" passenger! Thanx for the visual, Jillian! Seriously though, enjoy yourself and your time away!!!!!

I'm supposed to be getting stuff together for my boss for a lawsuit and I haven't even started! But he's on vacation this week, so I guess I can procrastinate a couple of more days!

EVERY time we live we KNOW there's something we forgot!! :confused3 And then we go like: Oh, God, let it be smth we can do without!! :rotfl:
