Looking for Control Freaks & Worry Warts - Part 4!!!

Okay, I'm done whining - back to my train ride!

We made it over to Thunder Mountain railroad (that's really the name) for our Oktoberfest train ride along the Payette River.

The CM who took our tickets - really friendly!

Jim and Jeff enjoying an English beer

They were playing the traditional German music, including the infamous "Chicken Dance" throughout the day.

We spent the afternoon in this bar car - empty except for us and a fun family who did Kareoke behind us on the ride back

This car looks fun when it's not cold out
IMGP1148.jpg

This car had original seats from the 60's if you wanted to sit there - it smelled really bad. No thanks.

Most of my pics turned out like this - focus on the raindrops:

This is the same river we rafted on before - these kayakers were waving their paddles at us as we went by on the way back to the station
IMGP1163.jpg

The family in the back of our car was really funny. There were about 10 of them. They asked for the Karoeke machine and then argued about what to sing until the ride was almost over! :rotfl2:

We had a great day and were glad we did this train ride!

My next report will be the zoo and the pirate dinner! My adventures here are almost over, but I'll be at the Oregon Coast next week - I'm sure I'll get some good pics there!

Hiya all,

Tammie - loved the pics!! Looks a bit too wild wilderness for me though... had me shivering!!

I love the way our men get so protective sometimes - you go on trips to places like this, with dirt roads and (previously) rafting etc, but you are not safe on a website..... probably says more about some insecurities he's feeling don't you think? Just need to give the guy a hug and let him know he's more important ... been there....

I just looked at my ticker - OFFICIAL PLANNING MODE CAN START - one year to go!!! This time next year.......:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

HAPPY THURSDAY! I know a rainbow is around the corner for all of us this weekend. We just have to b**** thru the rain in order to get it!

So I'm sitting here at work with a cup of hot tea and a pile of tissues! I hope to you know who that I don't have the flu! Just found out a friend of mine won a VIP trip to Disney Paris! Can you say jealous?! It was some Ford promo that she won and trust me she and her family need some time away from the stress so good for her!

Deb - glad to have to back even though you're not happy to be home! Can't wait for the pictures!

Cammie - that sucks! He makes me angry and I don't even know him. I hope you and Lauren have some good mom & daughter bonding time.

Tessa - YEAH for you!!:yay: Start your list making engines!

Tammie - I love this adventure you're taking! Keep the pictures coming!

Had a great GS meeting last night. We went leaf hunting and then did rubbings of them. The girls loved it. DD10 was such a big help at the meeting it's really turned positive for her to make her an assistant leader so she'll earn leadership credits. ok have to get ready for my morning call and not sneeze on the phone. Stay warm everyone!

I was scrolling through the threads and this thread called out to me. I consider myself a professional worrier. I worry frequently. Some times I wonder if I worry enough, isn't that odd?

I'll have to scroll page a couple pages to get a grip of the thread, but how nice to know I'm not the only worrier/ control freak.

Hi, LittleBlue!:hippie:

Tammie - Your pics are awesome! The train ride looked like so much fun.

Tina - Hope you didn't sneeze on your call, and it was one of those you could mute and just listen. I hope that you feel better!

Tessa - YEAH!! Good for you! The fun has begun!

Laura - Did you all get MORE snow?

We got up to 80F yesterday, and really muggy. This AM, the temp started dropping quickly this AM and I felt a big difference between getting in my car and getting out at work. It's in the high 50'sF now. Crazy weather. No wonder everyone is sick!

I felt a slight sore throat when I woke up this AM, but I took spoonfuls of honey and lemon, allergy med, Sudafed, and I should have taken Airborne! I know I got the germs from the grocery cart last night. I didn't use my anti-bacterial stuff immediately leaving the store!:lmao: Seriously.

I am 35 days away, and getting kind of panicky about our trip. Every single weekend day up until our trip is full, and I now want to put up my Christmas decorations before we leave on Nov 19, as my grandma will be here for a couple of weeks, staying at my mom's, and I want to spend the Friday after Thanksgiving and that weekend visiting. This is coming from someone who hasn't gotten her Halloween decorations up yet:rolleyes1, but I don't like to leave those up as long as I do the Christmas stuff....We need to decide what suitcases we are taking, I need to squeeze in a haircut and color before we go.:scared1: Panic is setting in...

Yes more snow. It didn't stick around. There is more coming tonight. Ughk!

35 days! I know your pain. I'm working on our suitcases for the B&B this weekend. The girls are going to the inlaws. I hate not knowing everything I could need. I have a list but I an doomed to forget something.

Debbie are you going to the lake this weekend!??? How far is it from Milwaukee??? I'm going to be over that way.

Laura - What is your occasion for the B & B? How fun! I have never stayed at one before! Enjoy your peaceful couple time!

/
Tessa, thanks! You're right. I need to be more verbal about appreciating him and give him more hugs! He doesn't accept praise too well, so it's easier not to say anything sometimes.

BabyBlue - Welcome! :cheer2: Yes, most of us are serious worriers. I was in church one time worrying about how it will be in heaven not to worry about anything! :rotfl2: Stick around and introduce yourself!

Pam, hope you feel better quickly! I panicked last night because I forgot the hand sanitizer after our Walmart shopping.

Tina, glad you had a great GS meeting!

Laura, Have a great B&B weekend! Now, I'm wondering, first you told Debbie that DH wouldn't feel you had time to see her, now you are wondering where she is...what happened? :rolleyes1:goodvibes

Okay, I'd better put the computer down so I can jump up and hug Jim when he comes through the door! I'll look all of you up later!

Okay, I'd better put the computer down so I can jump up and hug Jim when he comes through the door! I'll look all of you up later!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Hope he appreciates it!!

Pam - WHEN do you put up your Xmas stuff???? We go for the week or so before, maybe 10 days 15th ish Dec .... til about 12th night..5th/6th Jan.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!:banana::cool1:

We did it! Made it through another week!:cool1:

So went to DD10's parent teacher conference and found out that even though she's in 5th grade academically she's in 4th grade. :confused3 It's shocking really when you look at her scores she got when we had her tested for her ILA - very high like she should skip a grade. I think she was pushed down so much and told she was dumb for so long she believed it and now doesn't want to try. I struggled with her last night to do 3 overdo assignments - thank you teacher for calling me to alert me - she just could apply the skills and take it to the next step. The teacher told us to read more and maybe get her an electronic dictionary to help her. That surprised me too because we do grade 5 & 6 sight word flash cards every day and she does great. But I watched her struggle with words like example and poured. Hope and positive attitude that's what I'm going to focus on this weekend.

I was going to have a birthday party for her AG doll Nellie, but after the teacher's note had to cancel it to drill the point that school work is important. So now I'm going to spend my day working on the Halloween skirts and hats and the colonial dresses. Maybe I can slip in the yellow 1950's style dresses too and really get some things done. I'll be looking for the electronic dictionary - does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Girls! Its hard to catch up after vacation! Can you say...refrigerator repair, cable repair, cell phone problems...... I am revolving my life around 3 hour windows that I have to be home! It sucks! I am also having computer Firfox problems so I can't get my pix done yet! I am so crabby! It is the worst part about vacation....the coming home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is frickin cold and rainy too That's why I don't post. It just ends up me *****ing and moaning!

Tamie...make it an extra big hug! LOL!
BTW Thanks for sharing the pix Tammie! Glad you made the best out of it in that crappy weather! Glad you like Boise!

Kara...I hope you feel better! You are freaking me out cause I haven't heard back from you via texting!

Laura...what a bummer we are very close to Milwaukee but the men are going up without us to take the pier out! Too bad. Why will you be out that way?

Tina...sorry for the struggles with DD. I am having first grade struggles myself. Can't figure out if I am worrying unnecessarily or not.

Welcome Little Blue!!!!!!!!

Pam...YES! THANK GOD it is FRIDAY!

Tessa Happy planning!!!!!
We are going to hopefully do Oct 2010 early in the month!

Debbie - Don't be a crab! Cheer up! :flower3:
Here's a hug for you! I am loving the cooler weather we're having here! We've got it again.

Tammie - Did you show Jim some extra love and attention yesterday, and how did it go? I know I am being negative, but can't men be such babies sometimes? Mine can. Enough of that. I hope that it went well! What adventures do you all have planned for this weekend?!

Tina - Sorry about DD's problems in school. You will get on it and get it fixed because you are a good parent. I feel sorry for those kids who don't have the good parental support and struggle all the way thru school. I don't have a suggestion for an electronic dictionary, but that sounds neat. I need one of those!

Tessa - We typically put our decorations up the Friday (also a holdiay for most people) and weekend after our Thanksgiving, which is the fourth Thursday of November. If we have plans that weekend, like any family visiting, I like to get them up before Thanksgiving. I want them down immediately the day after Christmas, but we often don't get them down until New Year's Day and the next couple of days after.

It will be a cold night of football for us tonight - all bundled up w/hand warmers and hot chocolate. So much fun! It will be a long one - band marching show AFTER the game, since they are doing something w/the older middle school kids at half time, then after THAT the parents are decorating the band hall because the high schoolers have a big band contest tomorrow. I left a PTA meeting after an hour last night (an hour should be enough time!:headache:Don't even get me started!) to go to Party City to get stuff for goodie bags for 30 clarinet players and 6 bass clarinet players, then put them together last night. I wanted to do it earlier in the week, but something was going on almost every night, and I didn't feel like it afterwards. Served me right for having to do it last minute! Just call me The Procrastinator!

I am working in finalizing my packing list, and picked up a few things like glow bracelets, disposable plastic tablecloths (to sit on the curb during the parades, or to sit on the sidewalk to watch Illuminations), an over the door pocket organizer, and shower curtain. I still need to get clickable Sharpies, spiraled notecards (we still do character autographs and I want to be able to tear them out easily and incorporate them into our scrapbook) and postcard stamps. WHAT OTHER OBSCURE THINGS AM I FORGETTING?

this will be my birthday/anniversary trip. This is the place we are staying at. www.sybaris.com It seems a bit wild in a 70's kind of vibe but all the research I have done they reviews have ben fab so seeming my fingers crossed. I had come up with a great plan if Debbie was going to be at the lake. Tim thought we were going to take a nice romantic drive out by the lakes. Oh well we will get together another time. It is such a short jont... lol.

Pam- do you bring moleskins with for your feet? I swear by those things. How about a night light so someone doesn't have to wake up the whole room to go potty. You're staying at POP right?

welcome babyblue!

we are starting to feel better believe it or not. It is amazing. I'm really happy the kids didn't have school the last 2 days and not on monday. hopefully the school will be done with the bug.

Gotta work on my packing list for the girls to go to the inlaws while we are gone. That should be an interesting adventure for them

Laura - Ooh, la, la!! That place looks fabulous! Have fun!!

Thanks! I do bring moleskin! We've never brought a nite lite, so I will bring one. We usually keep the bathroom light on and keep the door cracked.

Glad that everyone is feeling better in time for their trips - your romantic one, and the kids' fun w/the grandparents!

I'm outta here (work)!!!!!:yay:

Hi Ladies! Jim is working this weekend and I have an Arbonne party today, with Appointments on Mon and Tues, packing on Wed, and heading home on Thursday. Then off to our retreat on Friday. This trip has gone by way too fast, as they all do. We're doing dinner with a big crowd on Mon at Tocano's, it's the Brazilian BBQ place we tried back in the beginning - huge salad/dessert/side bar with meat on skewers served like Ohana, only they just keep coming around and serving over and over until you beg them to stop!

Tuesday, we are eating at Donnie Mac's Trailer Park Cusine - I'll be sure to take pics!

Tina, I'm sorry your DD is struggling. I'm sure you can help her catch up, and work on her self esteem. It makes me so mad when kids tear down other kids - it shapes what they believe about themselves way in to adulthood - unless they learn to deal with it, they will accept failure or mediocrity forever. The good news is it can be changed! :thumbsup2

Debbie, sorry you're having the post Disney blues. I always like to pick a date for another trip and start planning that one! I'm watching Samantha Brown in Hawaii right now!

Laura! Wow! That place looks really great. Do the suites have their own pools? Hope you're having a great time!

Cammie, stay warm!

Kara? I thought I saw you were feeling better on FB, but you haven't been here much - are you okay?

Lorrie - where did you go?

Okay girls, I am still upset with Jim, but I'm trying not to let it show. I will have to talk to him. I sat on the couch the other night, watching him sleep while I watched some inane TV shows, because if I got up to get my computer he would wake up and be mad. :headache: Plus, I feel like he doesn't trust me all of a sudden. We've never had distrust between us:confused3

When we first started dating, he wanted to limit my friends/activities, and I told him to let go or I was out of there. It seems like 31 years later we are back to that again - wierd! I guess I'll have to deal with it, because how does he know if I don't tell him. Pam, you are right!

Hi all! I just want to stay home today! We have our big youth auction at church today, and I don't want to be there all day. I just want to stay home and get stuff done. I also need to get Taylor out and get the stuff for her nerd costume. She has a costume birthday party next Saturday. I also need to grocery shop, get some laundry done and get my Halloween decorations out before Halloween is here and gone! I also don't want to be around all of those people all day, enclosed in our family center, with so many people being sick. It's 9-4. There are usually so many people there, and so many cooks in the kitchen that it is chaotic, and not a whole lot to do. Listen to me, trying to justify not going. I just don't want to go. Is that bad?? I'm not sure I want to know. I am dropping off our donated baskets in a few minutes. I am going to wake the girls and suggest they just work 9-noonish. A lot of people work the PM shift. Taylor also has a school project due Tuesday. I am just feeling guilty for not wanting to be there all day. I just had to get it off of my chest.

We got mine and Megan's Disney lanyards in the mail Friday, and our Magical Express stuff! I also got my mini hipster purse last week. I like getting goodies in the mail, but Darrin keeps giving me a hard time, accusing me of being an online shopping-aholic! I am getting a lot of my Christmas and bday shopping done that way! I ended up getting my SIL the same purse but in a different print.

I am rattling, and I need to run! Have a great day! Where is everyone?:confused3

still sleeping? :rotfl: I've only slept 4 hours - I don't know why I'm up. Hope you have a good day - looks busy. I would just give yourself permission to do the half day you have time for and don't feel guilty. Sounds like there's plenty of help! :thumbsup2

HI guys! Quick stop by.......................

It's been miserable weather all weekend. Snowing and freezing right now. Good thing we have the warm afterglow of two Yankee wins to keep us warm! :goodvibes

Yea, it's been a sports-filled weekend here. Love the playoffs. Not happy with the Giants right now.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend. Hope to be on more this week.

And because I'm such a huge fan of SNL, I'll leave you with this................
