Looking for Control Freaks & Worry Warts - Part 4!!!

Hiya all,

welcome to the diet club Lydia - there's a few of us on the constantly-wanting-to-lose-some-pounds diet of one kind or another...... Can we do it - YES we can - positive affirmation rules!!

We had some bad news... hubby's dad - who went away with us on holidays and who we saw is failing - has the big C , prostate cancer. At his age and frailty, they decided to do nothing. If they do anything in his condition - emphysema and progressive heart failure , they risk killing him or severely reducing his quality of life. If they do nothing he has the chance of a few "good" years. We knew something was up, but it just hits you right in the guts - lots of crying... I gave up on the walking job- worked for them for 1 whole day... everyone needs me to be there right now, so taking that amount of time out just can't be done... I'm not a religious person, but I know a lot of you girls will put him in your prayers for me.... sorry to end on a sad note ...

Tessa

I'm in Phase I of the South Beach Diet...need to drop some serious pounds! My goal is to be in an 8 (comfortably) by January. I am squeezing into it now-should probably be a 10. I am the fattest (non-pregnant) I have ever been and I hate it. My BMI is high too.

Hence the weight loss ticker!

Girl! You look great in all your pics! But I hear you on dropping a size. I was a size 4/6 when we moved to FL, I'm not an 8/10!!! So, yes, I need to drop those 20 lbs too!

I'm so sorry to hear this!!!! How old is he? They actually say that cancer progresses slower in older people than younger people. My BIL's brother died at 25 of cancer - it worked so fast and he died about 8 months after the diagnosis. So here's hoping your FIL will still have many good years!!!!

So I'm going out with the girls from the neighborhood tonight. We're going downtown Jax for dinner and clubbing. Can I just tell you how long it's been since I've been to a nightclub? And even longer since I've been out with just the girls!!!

There are 11 of us going and we've hired a car (read: LIMO!!!) to take us. It only comes out to $25/pp which is well worth it, considering it's about 45 minutes into the city and nobody wanted to be the designated driver!!! But I"m sure I'll be worthless tomorrow!

Pam- I agree I have a hard time posting on any other board We all have respect for each other here and I think a common purpose. I get cranky too but I try to stay away from the boards when I am in a bad mood. I am so happy for your new ticker so exciting.

BabyB- Good Luck on your book it always takes me a while to get them together and then I have to ship it to Italy.

Kara- Ally is getting so grown up she is starting to loose that baby face. I am sorry your trip was tough I hate that. When we went last time there were ALOT of tour groups and they just took over. Everyone has a right to be there I just wish everyone was respectful.

Tammie- "Baby Wars" as I like to call it now is getting better. Thank you for asking. We had to hold off with everything this month because of everything going on now. Thank you for being a great friend

Hi to everyone else. Hope your week has gone GREAT :wizard:

So I have made the decision to try CSR Mike really wants to stay there and well it looks so nice. We will have our own car so I am not so concerned about being placed far away from everything I think I would actually enjoying being away from it all.

Pam...the wedding is Nov 14th. DON"T fall asleep!!!!!:lmao:

Tessa....so sorry for your FIL! Hopefully everything works out for him and he can live life as painless as possible!

Kara.....have fun tonight.

Jillian....girl slow down!!!!!! Good luck at the doctor and have fun with that little Badookie!

Lydia...good luck with the dieting! It sucks! I have dieted since I was probably;y 12 years old! It's all I know! LOL

Tina...glad all is going so good with your daughter! I kicked off our Daisy's for the year and have a real nice group! 17 girls!

BabyB...you're gonna need a nap today!

BabyB - Darrin was just looking over my shoulder (he thinks I'm doing some sneaky internet stuff - just kidding) and asked about your buttons on your signature. Do you mind if I ask where you got them? Please just ignore it if you don't want to share....I have been meaning to ask if you are a photographer?

I got them from FLAIR on facebook. I just saved them and put them into a row on paint. Yep, Im a part time photographer but Im trying to sell and go full time. Right now I do alot of nature and some family shots. Its hard to find models and gullable people who want photos. I do alot of pics for my bff (who has 4 kids) for free just to put them in my portofolo.
My photobook looks pretty good but I cant ship or buy untill mom looks it over since were going in on it together.

Popped on w/out reading, but I just had to say - HOW RUDE!:headache:

You all know what I am talking about. I feel sorry for some people.:stir: :sad2: Not you, Kara. You stood your ground, and I am proud.:worship:

Speaking of Kara - I've asked some questions on your cruise thread, and I am very offended that you are ignoring me. I am going to take it personally and will start to put a damper on the lightheartedness and humor of your thread.:rolleyes1

It's football Friday -- our homecoming! It's going to be 80F today, but I have a lightweight sweater on, and my most faded jeans, because it's fall and it's Friday! It will be sweatshirt weather tonight at the game! I'll be the mom in the stands, decked out in my band mom spirit wear, w/Megan's band photo buttons and my rhinestone Band Mom pin.

okay really gross photo coming----

Tessa, I'm so sorry to hear your news. I want to encourage you to enjoy as much quality time as you can with him - make some memories for your family, so you have lots of good times to look back on. I do talk to God alot, and I'll put in some prayers for you and your family. Even though you're not "religious," God will hear you if you talk to Him, too! Please contact me if you ever just need to talk or need a long distance hug!

im a good aunt. My niece is having a fear factor party and wanted an eyeball so I made her one. Yuck!

What the hell.....?

Ew! Another thing you can do is take canned lychees, pop red maraschino cherries inside them and freeze them. Float them in red kool-aid drinks or punch. Ick!

tessa-- my heart goes to your family. My dad is 10 yrs cancer free. He had prostate cancer too. I hope things go well for him and they keep him comfortable. I too will keep in my thoughts and prayers.

yes the cake is really gross. My niece loves it. I like the lycees and cherry idea. Crazy what we do for them

Quick hello to all the rest of you!

BabyB - Love the flair!
Kara - have fun tonight!
Pam - I watched National Lampoon's Vacation - "We're going to Wally World!" Could you imagine if we drove cross country to DL and the park was closed for refurb? :lmao: Have fun at the game!

Jillian - sorry you had to put a "hold" on things. :goodvibes

We have a busy weekend coming up - I have an appt and a big "peppermint pamper" party tomorrow, Sunday, we're going site seeing and taking a train ride in a vintage train along the river.

Think we're just going to cook steaks out tonight and relax.

Have a great weekend ladies, I'm sure I'll be back to check in!

Baby B - Well, I need to check out FLAIR. I like the buttons! I am still needing to START the photobook/scrapbook I am doing for my parents for their Nov bdays, of the WDW trip they took w/us in 2007. We did Photopass, and I didn't do a thing w/the pics on my cd. I like photography, but do not know much about it, and dont do as much as I'd like to with it. Good for you!

You ARE a good aunt. That's GROSS. How fun!

Ya'll are just GROSS! I like it! How fun for a Halloween party. Lydia - although I thought you looked great in your pic, I hear ya on the weight loss thing. I am always wishing that I were about 15-20 lbs. less. Although when I get serious about it, I cut out the goodies like the 2 donuts I had for breakfast this AM.:rolleyes1 I go in spurts w/my eating habits. I just can't diet! Good luck!

OK -- what time, and I'll be there!

Think we're just going to cook steaks out tonight and relax.

Do you have an extra steak? I'll be there for that, too! ;)

Tessa - I am sorry to hear about your FIL. I hope that he is one of those lucky ones that will live with it for many more years without the symptoms and suffering. Although not really religious, I do pray and go to church occasionally, and will keep he and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Sorry to hear about the walking job. I thought that it sounded fun.

Kara - Have fun at your GNO! Very cool about the limo!:thumbsup2

Jillian - What is CSR? I know it's a resort, but which one? Going to look it up...I can't keep up w/all of the acronyms!

Debbie - my mom and aunt ordered tamales and had them shipped from Scotty's! I've been enjoying them, but won't let Darrin have any because he thinks that they are only OK. Well, unless he loves them (like I do), I don't think that he should be able to eat any! (Is that mean?)

I did pre-order my Photopass CD today  , so that I can get the CD, misplace it, and not do anything w/the pics until years later. :lmao:

Tessa, Tessa, Tessa - I wish you were right here so I could hug you!!!! My heart goes to you and your family! My FIL passed of prostate cancer a few years ago and it's a tought C to fight. Did they say what stage it was in or if it's moved anywhere else? Get lots of Ensure and push the fluids before his kidney shuts down. Spend every waking second with him while he has good days! Make every minute count! Be strong for each other!

Tina - Glad to hear about your daughter. I am curious to know what kind of club you find. I was worried about my younger daughter, too, but she has joined confirmation class at church, and I think it might be what she needs to get over it. She never wanted to do anything or go anywhere w/kids her age besides Girl Scouts (besides playing w/her friends). Glad you are having fun w/GS. Our troop has only had 2 meetings this year, and no fun activities yet. We skipped a parade last weekend that we usually do every year. I think our leader has stuff going on. I do need to check w/her to see if she needs some help. There's just so much to do...
Have a wonderful day, all!

PAM - so I found NOTHING for social skill groups. So frustrating! You would think since this is such a problem that there would be groups out there. I got a book "Why girls are talking and what they are saying" and so far it seems pretty good. They recomended two AG books - A Smart girls guide to friendship trouble and Friends making them and keeping them. We had the first one, but DD never read it. So we're going to read it together.

GS Leaders - found a really great site http://girlscoutparty.wordpress.com/ - had a neat Thanksgiving activity for Brownies and Halloween activity for Daisies.

AAAHHH y friend just sent me a voice message saying they were at France in EPCOT right now and she was thinking of me!!! AAHH!!

Hi to everyone else

Helllllloooooooooooooo LADIES!!!

Yeah, don't fall over. It's me. I can't believe I haven't been on the DIS in three weeks! :headache:

Miss you all and hope everyone is well. Won't even lie and tell you I'll be able to read up because I know I won't.

It's a rainy miserable day here. We have a friend of Lauren's spending the weekend while her mom is away with her older sister looking at colleges. And Amanda may be sick. Had a miserable night. Good thing we'll just be spending the day indoors today.

Kara - if you're out there, how about giving me one of your infamous "thread updates"?

Hi to everyone!

Anyone here a DVC member who has made ADR's online? I have a feeling October 27th is going to be a very bad day!

Ok, I am going back a few and reading up. Don't know if you got an answere to this or not Lydia, but I'm DVC and made my ADRs online the beginning of Sept. - over Labor Day to be exact.

It was easy-peasy!:thumbsup2

Seriously, so quick. Got everything I wanted within the time range I wanted. I had originally called the ADR phoneline first because I was skeptical about the online way - there was a 30 minute hold time! I got right on the computer and had my ADRs within 5 minutes.

OMG! Someone is over on my TR getting all snarky about my review of the Dolphin! It's kinda funny really. She is taking everything I say literally, so she thinks I'm evil for commenting that I didn't get an upgrade! :rotfl2: I don't know who this chick is, but she obviously doesn't get me and my humor!!!

I'm on it...................................................*heads over to Kara's TR to kick some butt*

And Jeez Kara - how many trips have you been on since I was last on the DIS?:lmao:

Sorry, the last time I was there I was 6 yrs old! Are you busy planning your trip with your mom? Are your sisters going?[/QUOTE]

Well Im planning, there just comming along. Moms stepped up and said she would be responsible for the plane and hotel. Im responsible for everythign else. They make me plan it since Ive been there twice.

As for being good at photography..... Im still learing. I love my sisters though. There so sweet about helping. I was tryin to teach our tia (new to digital) how to take action photos and my DSis 10 stood on this bench (she has no fear) and jumped off, Not once, Not twice but 10 times till tia got the shot. I got it on the first shot :P

Pam! It's a short plane trip from where you are - come on over!

Camster! How the heck are ya? So nice to see you here. I think that poor Princess is sorry she tangled with the CFWW gang!:rotfl2:Hope Amanda isn't sick.

BabyB - cute pics! I love how you caught her mid air - something I can't do, but my shutter is kind of slow and all purposey.

Erin, good for you getting a day off to get your cleaning done. I would probably be watching a "chick flick" when I should be mopping! :goodvibes

Tina, You'll get your daughter through this stage - that's what it is - just when you figure out how to help her with this one, she'll need something else. You are doing a good job of helping them learn to get along.:thumbsup2

I got a really nice coat at TJ Max last night - black sateen with down filling and a really cute belt - so I stopped at JoAnne's and bought some yarn, a pattern book and crochet hook to make a hat and scarf to match it- $20! I could have bought a hat for $12.99! :rotfl: Guess I'll have the satisfaction of making it, though. Well ladies, I'm off to take a nap - football and cloudy days do that to me - who am I kidding, I love to take naps, so matter what the weather is:rotfl2:
