Looking for Control Freaks & Worry Warts - Part 4!!!

I hope that everyone is feeling better - Jillian, Laura, Tessa and girls...

Tessa - Yippee that you all are on a break from school!! Does that also mean that you are on a break from work? Have fun!! Taking away TV is also a good punishment for my girls. Unfortunately, TV is such a big part of our lives. I TRY not to get hooked on too many shows. If I do, I just end of DVRing too many of them, then feel like I am behind because I have so many to watch. It just overwhelms me!

Tina - How awesome! The skirt will be so cute! I love that material and the colors. Your daughters are very lucky that you sew. My grandma used to sew for us when she lived w/us, but my mom never really did. I have a machine that never gets used. One of the many things that I wished that I would make time for and be good at.

Kara - I really am trying the Twitter. There are just too many things that I get pulled into, and am enthusiastic about at the beginning, then I get frustrated, bored or overwhelmed. Like Facebook :rolleyes1 Too many fun things to do! I want an iPhone! I just have the iTouch right now, so I can only use wi-fi, which we have at home, but not many places have free wi-fi. It sounds like Ally is a fish!

Cammie - I haven't read your TR yet, so I plan on getting there and checking out the detail of your JB concert. I enjoyed your pics on this thread! Too bad about the Billy concert. Concert tickets are just too expensive to do that! Darrin is going to the U2 concert in Oct, but w/friends. I was too cheap to get a ticket for myself. I would expect to sit in one of the first 5 rows to pay $100+, not watch them on a screen! Something I just don't understand.

Debbie - I hope that your trips to the lake are keeping your spirits high! Again, I love your Zac avitar. Very creative!

Tammie - Where were you in TX? Couldn't stand the heat, huh? Well, we are having a cold front this week - temps only in the higher 90's not 100's! :rotfl2: It's my family and my hubby, who would never leave this state, that keep me here.

Hi Renee and Erin, and to a couple of people I haven't "met" yet!

I was up until almost 1am reading thru this new thread from page 1. It was good to catch up w/everyone. Zzzzzzz......It's going to be a heavy coffee day!:surfweb:

Kara, I'm too funny for this thread :rolleyes1

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Good Wednesday Morning Everyone!

Well the week is almost over - hooray! Thought I'd post my recent purchase from Joanne's for DD10. I'm going to make the red one on the bottom right but with the yellow fabric shown and with a black leather buckle.

Picture001.jpg

Tina that looks awesome!!!! You are very talented. I use my sewing machine for window treatments and that's it. I did make Ally and I matching skirts once, but that was it.

Pam - so glad you're back!!!!!! We've missed you! Yes, Ally is quite the fish and swim team has really monopolized our summer. Championships are on Saturday - over 500 swimmers from all the teams in the league! So practice every day this week AND twice today!

Last night Ally finally had a successful sleepover. Her BFF in SC was very timid and too afraid to spend the night. Then she had a friend here about a month ago who was afraid of Bucky so she bailed about 9:00. So last night we tried another friend and she LOVES Bucky! So after we did hair and nails, then bath, they crashed hard. I took them out to dinner after swim practice so they were already tired. I woke them up and took them back to swim practice at 9am and they are back at our house. We're very fortunate that there are some great kids in our neighborhood and the parents and families make it easy.

Hi Girls!
Glad everyone is having fun, keeping busy, feeling better.....
I am fine...trying to get things done but getting nothing done!
At least I figured out that our warranty was up August 22nd on the mini van and dropped it of last night. Probably have been asking my husband to check into that for about a year!

I MUST FINISH photopass CD! This is NOT fun with every computer in our home being so slow!!!! We leave for Wisconsin Saturday to the next Sunday and then my pix expire so I have to finish this.....hopefully today!

Our weather is REALLY crazy here! One day it's 80 and the next day it's 70! I know everyone's weather is bizarre these days but it is just so strange to me! My electric bill has NEVER been so cheap in the summer! Never! BUT my allergies are also bad! The other thing is whatever it is here it is worse at our summer home and the summer home is the most fun when it's HOT! If the temp is under 80 the kids won't go in the water as much. Crazy kids!

The kids have been misbehaving so the whole neighborhood has heard what a crazy person I am! I just yell too much but the kids completely ignore me the first 10 times I ask them nicely!!! I am going to have to get a game plan because I just feel MY temper and patience is worse as well!

Pam2 Glad you are back too!!! Don't try catching up! We can fill you in!

Tammie..I am doing stuff with Twitter too but don't understand any of it yet!

LOVE the INTERNET on my phone but find it is MUCH easier to use when reading then posting anywhere!

Did I run everybody off? :confused3

Hee hee! Not a chance! Just updated my TR with "the story!"

Heading out to pick up Ally from swim practice - just one more practice before championships on Saturday and then the season is DONE!!! Although I wish they would continue through the year, just once a week. But I guess it will be back to gymnastics next month.....

Hi girls busy day. I need to find a playgroup for Luca he is so bored:confused3 On my days off I need to get things done and I don't know how to juggle everything. I was on the edge today. What a 2 year old can do. He used his Juice box as a squirt gun all over the kitchen I just cleaned and mopped. I didn't know what to do so I just walked away from him and into the other room.

My story for the day. Hope everyone is having a great summer I am going to go get pampered tomorrow massage, facial mani pedi. I think I need it!

Jillian - I am just picturing Luca with that sweet face, standing in the middle of the kitchen, and aiming his juice box and spinning round and round like a fountain! Sorry, the image is funny, but I'm sure it was NOT funny at the time. You deserve to be pampered - you've had a lot going on!!! When is the procedure scheduled? It's soon, right?

Jillian, I had to laugh. Sorry. So totally not funny. You do deserve to be pampered! Twos are tough. So are three's, four's, five's,...eleven's, twelves...SIXTEEN's. Maybe seventeen isn't tough. :confused3 My 11 & 16 year olds are arguing, calling me at work every 5 minutes, and driving me insane. Wanna swap for a week? JK. Enjoy your pampering!!

I am going to change my DIS name to Mrs. Butterkins (Have you seen the commercial? That's me!). I just ate a bagel, 1/2 w/cream cheese, and 1/2 with 2 pats of butter! 2 pats of butter on 1/2 of a bagel! Not reduced fat, but the real thing, both cream cheese and butter! I would have been better off stopping at Dunkins and getting the one donut that I wanted to get, but thought I would be good and eat a bagel instead. ????

It might not be good for you, but that bagel sounds real good!

I went last night to Joanne's to get some additional fabric and zippers and I thought I would kill DDs as they ran around the store with the carriage! They push my buttons!!

Getting ready for a storm tonight so we'll be buckled down. Hope everyone has a great Thursday! It's finally the weekend! The girls are off to Roger William zoo today so they'll be exhausted when they come home. Yeah I can get some sewing done. Picked up some nice deep purple cordoury for a skirt so now I have two skirts to make for school. So far I've saved $50 on two skirts - SWEET!

Cammie - still waiting for more pictues - heard Billy Joel is off the wagon and swinging it with another GF. At least she's not the age of his daughter!

Jillian - some times you have to let do their thing. I've let the girls run outside in their bathing suits during a rain storm so they can get the wiggles out! Glad to hear you're doing ok and you definitely deserve a day of pamper.

Kara - I'll keep my fingers cross for Ally for her meet!! Where do you go for gymnastics? I'm thinking of signing the girls up in the fall, but our schedule is starting to fill up. I have to leave room for GS, dance and softball. They just told me they don't want to do Tae Kwon Do next year - yeah I get to sleep in on Saturday!!

Debbie - I laughed about your neighborhood hearing you scream!! We think the reason why our back neighbors are moving is because they're sick of hearing me scream at my kids! :rolleyes1 oh well!

Hope everyone is doing GREAT! 34 more days til I'm at the Mouse's house, what about you??

PS Did I mention DD10 wore a bra today !!! HOORAY!

Tina - 119 for us! We are going to be there Nov 19-26. We will be celebrating Darrin's bday there on Nov 25 w/fast passes!:woohoo: I am being a terrible mom and taking my kids out of school for 2 days!

Good job on the sewing accomplishment! We struggled w/the bra thing w/both girls. They just thought it was GROSS that they had to wear them. Now, my DD16 is a 36DD! She puts me to shame!

I'm also a yeller, Debbie and Tina. My bark is bad, and that's about it. I know our windows are thin, and neighbors are so close. I hear others sometimes when out in the neighborhood.

Kara, do you have a future Olympian on your hands, swimming or gymnastics?? I really enjoyed your trip reports. Ally is precious. I love the chipmunk marker story...I love the way she is hugging all of the characters in the pics. I miss those days. Now, mine are not too cool for WDW, but they would think they are too cool to hug the characters. I need to find out if they are too cool to have breakfast in the castle w/the princesses this Nov. We talked about doing it on every WDW trip, but if they are not that into it, I'd rather spend the money elsewhere. I will be extemely disappointed tho!

See, I get hooked on this thing, and you guys. I just need to pace myself...It's quiet at work. A lot of people on vacation.

Tina - I just looked online to find a gymnastics center here in town. It's the third one she has been to since she began (two in SC) and I really like it the best. She has learned so much more here! Part of me wants to NOT do it this year, and save $50/month, but then I know how much she likes it and when I break it down, it's only $12/hr lesson. I've thought about keeping her swimming year round with private lessons that would be about the same price. I need to see what she prefers.

Don't think she'll be an Olympian in either sport, but a college scholarship would be nice!!!!

So tired today - stayed up too late the last two nights reading the last Twilight book. So looking foward to New Moon movie on NOv 20th!!!!

Pam - I'm totally laughing at your bagel! My favorite spread is fat free cream cheese and sugar free jelly. Sweet, creamy, and virtually calorie free!!!!! And then there's peanut butter and jelly on a bagel, too. Not so calorie free but soooo good! I just love bagels period!

mmmmmmm peanut butter and bagels (imagine Homer... the cartoon character not classical author (as if ;)) ..... my fave diet meal is my breakfast of PB on toasted bagel for breakfast (WW bagel so only 4WW points total) - full of protein, so fills me up till lunch......mmmmmmmmmm

And - another similarity here - I'm also a yeller!! Though lately I've tried starting using reverse psychology when the kids are yelling too- they teach you as a school helper.... what you do is talk softly and quietly, the child becomes curious and has to shut up to hear you... it works. Now I just need to work out how to get them to get dressed/ brush their teeth/ tidy their room/ stop killing each other without shouting, but hey ho, we are surrounded by families with young kids, we all seem to start yelling about 5pm and finish around 8 when all the kids are in bed...

Tessa

Fly by now but I will be back!

I love you guys! Just had to put it out there!

Yup, yeller here, too. In fact, the other night, I told Ally not to do something, she did it anyway, and I went OFF on her. Jeff finally told me to calm down and he took over. It just totally set me off. I was ready to send her to her room, no dinner, etc. And he tells me that I am too easy on her. Men!

The room cleaning is a big issue for me. She just takes the lazy way out of everything....

Last night we went school shopping and came home to go through her closet and all her drawers and get rid of stuff that is too small. I'm giving it all to my Brazilian cleaning lady - she comes from a very poor village where kids only have one outfit and have to run around naked while they do laundry.

Anyway, Ally was very patient and tried on pants for me to see the length, we got all her drawers straightened out - now let's see how long it lasts!

Yeah, I tried the whole speak softly and they'll quit down and listen, but by the end of the day the whisper was getting louder and louder. Now I'm glad DD10 will put herself in time-out to her room. :confused3 I don't know, but when I've had it up to here I'm glad she walks away.

I've got to start looking into a few places for gymnastics. One friend's daughter is in competition through the Y, but I don't know if I want DD7 to get that involved with it - they travel all over for it. There's another place one of my GS's goes to, but it's $$$. We'll see.

Hi guys! Hope all is well with everyone. I'm off to the oral surgeon with Lauren in a little while. Her orthodontist referred us because he found a spot on her last xray that he's not completely sure about. If it was up by her sinuses, he would assume it just mucus; but it's a little lower and he wants the oral surg. to check it out. He's not worried - thinks it probably IS mucus and her anatomy is just different. But I'm worried; and so is Lauren. We both have stomach aches. :scared:

Tessa - before I forget: I keep meaning to congratulate you on your weight loss. That's so great and what a wonderful feeling. You go girl!:thumbsup2

Tina - okay, you asked for it. I was posting pix on my tr but I'll post some here now too.

First up, these are pix from the soundcheck party. Just about 100-150 of us were let in. Joe likes to wear funny costumes. Here I'm thinking he's supposed to be a nerdy tourist. They sang some songs, answered questions, and bought some fans up on stage. Oh, and btw, he refused to put on a Red Sox hat that someone gave them. HA!

Hi girls had to cancel the pampering. My doctors appt and eye ddr appt took too long so I am going to just get a pedicure plus AF came to visit so I though getting a massage might be a bad idea.LOL

I am a screamer as well I was screaming my head off yesterday and he is only 2. I felt so guilty why do I have to yell at him? UGH I do have to say if it wasn't my house or my child doing it I would have cracked up laughing too. I just couldn't believe it where do they get these ideas? :lmao:

I need to find things for Luca to do and I am thinking we may have to enroll him in school anyway just to get him out of the house. :confused3

My D&C is tomorrow afternoon and then I am on strict bedrest until Monday. Then I can get up and move around a bit but no lifting etc.. I should be here alot.

I am glad to hear everyone is having such a great summer. I have to tell you I cannot wait until Fall it is my favorite season and the reason I find it hard to ever leave New England. Text me to keep me occupied I'm going to be crawling out of my skin!

thank you cammie I'm so excited!!!!! Question - who is that girl that Nick is touching!!!

What's REALLY embarrassing is that I taught kindergarten for all those years! The parents loved me! They thought I was a saint..so sweet and patient! They couldn't believe I could be with 25 - 5 & 6 year olds all day...
All I can say is....
IF THEY COULD SEE ME NOW!!!!!!!!!!

This is what I think is bad. I try and ask myself if I would be embarrassed if there was a hidden camera in my house that got played later on TV and there are a lot of days I would be mortified!

I tried not to yell today and it went well...one day down:rotfl2:. If I did the whispering voice it would do nothing unless I was 1 foot in front of them for them to actually pay attention to even see I was whispering! I yell after I have asked nicely a hundred times OR if they scare me. Like, if I think someone is going to get hurt or if someone is going to hit or something......
I love those kids I do but I like them when they are having their good days!!!!LOL!!!! I am a control freak and I hate when I feel I have no control over them.

Thanks for letting me vent!

I am off to the lake Saturday AM. Mark is off again tomorrow:headache: We are flower girl shopping. It is hard to decide when they are all so cute! I think I will take pix tomorrow with my camera to post tomorrow.
