While we aren't going on a cruise, we are going to be spending a few days on the coast after our Disney trip. I am looking for suggestions for places to stay. The ones most highly recommended on Dave's Tribute site are booked for our dates (Ron Jon, Resort on Cocoa Beach, etc). I would prefer oceanfront or at least a GOOD ocean view even if it isn't on the beach. I would like a suite if possible since we will be coming off a week in one hotel room at DIsney. Where have you stayed and would you stay there again. Thanks!

Keep calling back and checking with Ron Jons and The Resort on Cocoa Beach.
I just got back from Ron Jons. The kids had a blast. My sister ended up joining us. When she first called they were booked. She kept calling back and finally a room opened up.
I have stayed a both of these places. Both are nice and I would stay there again.
Also stayed at The Radisson at the port. It is in Cape Canaveral. Has nice pool but it is not near a beach. The rooms were clean. We got a two king bed suite which was great.
Good luck.

Thanks, I will keep trying. We have a few weeks before we go. I think what I am running into with availability is that the window for the shuttle launch goes through June 3 and we are looking to check in on June 4th. THey both have availability on the 5th, but I don't want to add a 4th hotel to our trip (doing 2 at Disney already). Maybe if the shuttle launches in May, the night of the 4th will free up.

We just did an excursion on the Norwegian Dawn to the Holiday Inn Cocoa Beach. I don't know if they have suites but the rooms are newly renovated. It has a pirate themed kiddie pool, hair braiding, ceramic painting, etc. We had Nacho's & the most delicious sweet/spicy Salsa at Mambo's, one of their restaurants. It was open-air with live music and right on the beach. We are definitely thinking of staying there when we go back on the Magic next Aug.

Hi, we have stayed at Best Western, and Comfort Suites. They were both beachblock, and close to everything. Across the street was a grocery store, pharmacy, and other restaurants.

I would not rate these 5 star, but I will not hesitate to stay again..We enjoyed it very much.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn for the last 4 days of our honeymoon in '98 (first 8 were WDW of course) and we had a suite right on the beach. You might have to walk 5 feet till you feet actually hit sand but the balcony opens onto the beach. We actually saw on of the DCL's leave port the last day we were there.

The suite was very large with a "living room", galley kitchen with a little fridge and a big bedroom. Have fun :wave2:

We liked the Hampton. It was reasonable, not to far from the Ron Jon Shop and it is basically beach front.

It is not technically beach front because you don't walk out the back of the hotel onto the beach. There is a very short walk down a path to the beach. The price difference between beach front and this hotel is a pretty penny.

They also had a very nice continental breakfast (danish, donuts, bagels, toast fruit, cereal) included in the price. Last year it was $89.

Best western and Comfort Inn and Suites have beach views and both have good locations - they get my vote for places to try. Even Days Inn is just across the street from the beach, but you won't have a beach view. Same for Holiday Inn express. These are all better than Radisson if you like beach.

I would not hesitate to try any of the hotels on Dave's site - even though I have not seen all of them, Cocoa Beach is a pretty competitive family destination and even the simple places are likely to be clean and decent. And some simple places have wonderful beach locations.

We were having a problem finding a room on Cocoa Beach the day before our cruise earlier this month. We were told everything was booked in the area. I looked through the AAA guide and found Discovery Beach and Tennis Resort. I called them and to my surprise they had a room. Actually the rooms are condos with full kitchens and washer and dryer. The place is right on the beach! You can rent a one, two or three bedroom condo.

I did see this one, and it looks nice, but same problem, no availability for our trip time.

I think I will go with the Comfort Inn since I can get an oceanview suite there for a reasonable price and it seems like it is fine. Thanks!

Just a note to you about food at Cocoa beach.
Do not go to the KFC. The inside of that store is filth!!! We were there last month and could not believe it. Every table was dirty, the floors had black crud along the moldings around the floor, dead insects in the window seals, the tray they put the food on was covered with crumbs. I won't even start on what I saw in the ladies room. Believe me no lady would set foot in there!
We arrived right after it opened so it's not like they had a big rush and couldn't get it straightened up. It was left dirty from the night before, but most was ground in dirt. I'm glad I didn't see the kitchen. This had to be months of accumilation. I hope the health department checks them out soon.
Perkins was clean, but no one to wait on us. They were all in the back talking to each other as we stood waiting to be seated, we hollered out hello, they looked at us and went on chatting and laughing with each other. @ tables had been seated and were waiting to be served, you could tell they were angry too. After 20 minutes we all left. Don't know where the manager was but a letter of complaint at least will let them know what was happening there. We did get excellant service at IHOP and Wendy's and Pizza hut.
Hope this helps you some with the foods there.

To everyone...out of all these resorts, which one has the best pool slide? And we love to go out to breakfast, do these places have restaurants that serve breakfast and if not, where to go for it? thanks.

I really can not give a personal answer about the pool slide...From what I hear, and have seen pics.. of, the Radisson, or Ron John's win on this one...As for the rest, we have stayed at Comfort Inn & Suites, and Best Western..THey are very close to each other, and across there is A Perkins restaurant within 5 min., and across from the Comfort is an IHOP...We had no car, and LOVED the different restaurants, as well as souvenir shops, and food stores extremely closeby...

Hope this helps a bit... :goodvibes

At the Holiday Inn - only the kiddie themed pirate pool had a small slide. Yes they do have a restaurant that serves breakfast.

ok, thanks! Does the Radisson have a really good slide?

Hello there,
Please if you are here and you are not happy with stuff going on here, give me a call or stop by the shop ------the shop number is 800-950-4559 or the local number is 799-4438 ---Libby owns IHOP and she really is great and does everything in her power to make sure everyone is taken care of --as for Perkins, Norm and I can pull our hair out also when we go there to get a quick bite for supper and as for KFC, they have new management.
I am printing out this thread and send it to those in questions - that should get their attention.
If Norm and I can help while you are here, let us know.
Always
Shirley
