Looking for cheap spring break ideas

If you opt for Busch Gardens Williamsburg, there is also a Great Wolf Lodge just an exit up the road from the park. I don't know what your budget is, but the room rate includes their indoor waterpark for two days (great option if it rains while you're there).

The Metro Richmond Zoo is a really wonderful zoo in the Richmond VA area too if you consider heading that way too.

I'm in your same boat. We're in PA and trying to figure out what to do that week that won't bust the bank. Hershey Park isn't open for another week, and we're actually doing Busch Gardens a little earlier because of a great rate I got at the Wolf Lodge.

Another option on tickets for Busch Gardens.... If you go to Sesame Place's website, you can get a 2012 season pass for 25% off (157.50) until March 1st, which will get you into Busch Gardens, Water Country USA, Seaworld and Aquatica all year (might be an option if Seaworld is part of your Disney trip this fall). Check though, sometimes they say you have to FIRST use the pass at Sesame Place, but I think they make an exception since they don't open until late April.

I'm not sure what you mean by cheap, but I found the price of renting an RV was pretty reasonable for our spring break dates. I'm trying to plan a drive to Mammoth Caves National Park in Kentucky.

This was one of our favorite family vacations when my kids were younger!:goodvibes We visited the caves, drove to Bowling Green and toured the Corvette factory (free), took a riverboat ride, went to Shaker Vilage, visited Bardstown and drove over to Lexington (horse stables). My DS was a Davy Crockett fan so we went to Boonesborough as well. There is so much for kids in Kentucky...seriously, we had so much fun on this trip and it was really a budget trip! Have a great time!

This X 1,000,000!!! I suggest hitting the Missouri Botanical Gardens. It is the most beautiful place I have ever been to, and I've been to Paris. :rotfl: Our kids loved it. All of the above attractions are awesome, as well. We spent 4 days there and wished we would have stayed longer. We plan to go back soon. It was such a surprise. Didn't expect it to be that fun.

I agree! We love St. Louis! I think our kids enjoyed our trip there even more than Disney World LOL! We can't wait to go back. I might also suggest Branson which has tons to do for any age active and outdoor (ziplining, boating, hiking, etc.) or otherwise (Silver Dollar City, Shows, Museums etc.)

Anyone been to Gulf Shores, Alabama on spring break? Ours is the first week of April and I can't decide whether to gamble on the weather or not.

I don't need it to be blistering hot, but I don't want to sit on the beach and shiver.....

Did you mention the dates for your Spring break? Ours is usually in mid-March, which limits the options. A lot of places will still be cold. The suggestion for Pigeon Forge was good, but not until April. Busch Gardens in Williamsburg has limited hours in the spring.

You almost have to get pretty far down in Florida to be guaranteed warm weather for the typical March Spring break.

I've been to Florida three times over Spring Break--twice in Destin (panhandle) and once in Clearwater. Those were college Spring Break weeks, so VERY early March, and the weather was perfect beach weather nearly every day. Actually, the only day it was cold (below 65-ish) was when we were farther south in Clearwater! Destin has always been warm when I was there.

Then again, I'm a Michigander, so warm is all relative! :rotfl:
