OK so my DH and I decided to make use of our AP's and try to sneak in a last minute trip to see the mouse. I'm looking for cheap airfare to cut down on cost. I am aware of Airtran, but they don't seem to be having a sale right now. So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me.

Should I just scrap the idea of flying and drive instead? We would be leaving from PA and from what I've found so far it seems like it would be cheaper to drive than fly but I would rather fly.

Any suggestions, Bueller? Bueller?

Where in PA are you flying out of? We got $79 one way tickets on Airtran out of Pittsburgh- not sure what the prices are out of Philly.

We would be flying out of Philly and the lowest I found there was either $99 or $129

It looks like United, Airtran, and US Air all have flight for $176 RT but they are only on certain days- usually Tues, Wed, and Fri. I don't know when you were planning on going, but that is for the month of May. If you go to itasoftware.com, you can do a 30 day search to find the cheapest days to fly in that 30 day period. Good luck!

Sounds like you might be in my area of the state..From what I've discovered Philly is the cheapest in the price you had already mentioned.

Please pass on a BIG THANKYOU to your husband for us.

The only problem with some of those $176 rt flights is the time it takes to get to MCO. They're usually not non-stops and some of them are 8 or 9 hour flights. We paid $211 rt out of Philly on US Air just to get a non-stop.

Did you check Southwest? We've flown from there to MCO for $39 or $49 one-way. We flew to Philly first to see the Eagles play last August.

When are you planning on going?

Friends are flying Orlando to Philly on Southwest for the $49/trip fare. I read that the other airlines are cutting prices in Philly to stay competitive. Another airport you might try is Allentown/Lehigh Valley. They have direct flights to Orlando and the airport is like a county airport - not busy, congested and the staff are nice. We took a Delta flight in early April to Orlando, but we had to connect in Atlanta, which was painful.

If you have AAA, try booking a flight on their site and see what comes up. My airfare was $10 cheaper on AAA than on the other travel web sites. I know that $10 is not much, but it is something.

My favorite discount airfare site is www.cheaptickets.com

I'm flying out of Philly in June. $141 R/T. Key is I'm flying into TAMPA not Orlando. Using SW. You can catch a cheap fare Phl-MCO on SW but there aren't too many seats at that price. The flights into Tampa often show up as cheap DING fares. Check it out.

Also, if you're willing to drive to BWI, you can often catch a $49 each way DING fare.

Plenty of cheap opportunities.

Finally!!!!!!!

I just found $79 each way on Airtran!! That's more like it! Look out Mickey here we come!!!!

Thanks for your help everyone!! :disrocks:

Go to Southwest's website and download DING. That way you will be notified when a cheap fare is posted. I have had great luck getting $49-$69 from PVD using DING. Philly is on it constantly, you just need patience for the Philly-Orlando route.

We are going in late June for 176 r/t, but we've done better.....it was $133 r/t in February, although the weather was not good for swimming. I would sign up with as many airlines as possible that fly from PHL - we almost always go with USAirways, but SW is a very strong contender in PHL and their flights fill up very quickly. And by all means, download their DING software. If their fares go down or there is a sale, you will get some advance notice. We've never had any luck with Delta - and they seem to offer few, if any, non-stops from PHL. You might think about trying Spirit in Atlantic City (but with gas being as high as it is, you might not be saving much. :sad2: ). And some dates are just not going to be priced as low as we might desire.....I waited as long as possible to get the $176 fare we purchased because I saw that seats and flight times were filling quickly.....I figured that we might miss out completely or pay more and that would not have made me a happy camper.
