Please help! Trying to find cheap airfare and having the hardest time. Tried travelocity, expedia, priceline, you name it. Does anyone know of any tips or tricks to help me out. Thanks! :flower3:

Updated to include info:
Leaving NY (either: Stewart, LGA, White Plains, JFK) August 19th 2009
Going to ORLANDO!!!
Returning home on August 26th 2009

What part of NY? I just got awesome airfare on Southwest today out of Buffalo.

We could leave from Stewart, JFK, LGA, or White Plains. My friend lives in the city and I live in the Hudson Valley-hence the range of airports. We were hoping for under 200, are we asking too much?

I like to use kayak.com and itasoftware.com to compare prices.

I check multiple airports.

The "secret" is to check EVERY day and maybe a few times a day for a few days, weeks, or even months and be prepared to make a purchase once the fares go down to where you feel comfortable. Sometimes a sale will be good for only a day or even a few hours.

Good luck.

Jetblue is having a 3 day sale...had some $29 - $79 fares.

We've always gotten good fares on AirTran out of Westchester - Jet Blue is at Westchester now too. Good luck! :goodvibes

Thanks DISers! You guys are quick! I added to my original post that I would leave NY on August 19 and return home the 26th--going to WDW (aka Orlando).

I will try those new sites, daily

Jet Blue for us would be about 300 roundtrip. It would actually be cheaper if we were flying to San Francisco (about 200) go figure!

I use kayak and I like to fly out of Stewart. I have a trip planned in September and kayak helped me get a flight that was $155 on Delta. This is the cheapest I've gotten SWF-MCO in three years. Normally, I like to take jetblue out of Stewart, but their prices were $280 for the same dates.

Also sign onto yapta. Add your dates and they will email you when there is a price drop. Good luck!

(btw...I'm flying out of Stewart on this Saturday! I have this crazy itinerary on USAirways, but it was $59 each way, so I'll take it!)

Go to airtran out of white plains says 59.00 plus tax and fees each way right now for 19 august-26th

:woohoo:

Having the same trouble around the same time from Boston. I think if we are patient it will come down

If you fly out of HPN delta and airtran has flights for around $160 per person. They aren't non stop but the price is right! I would go directly to the Delta and airtran sites to check it out.

Southwest is having a mystery sale 4/24-4/27, 50% off a different city each day. Today is Philly but who knows what the next 3 will be?? Good luck.

I was looking at Jetblue yesterday (my dates are close to yours). There were some $84.00 (each way) flights from JFK to MCO.

If you can play around with your dates a bit, you may come up with a good price.

Right now Kayak.com is showing Stewart to MCO, 1 stop, Northwest, for your dates $159 pp RT. And also showing HPN to MCO, 1 stop, Delta, for your dates $160 pp RT.

On the Airtran site directly it's $59 each way, $160.40 pp RT including taxes and fees for your dates, 1 stop each way. Multiple flights/times to choose from.

Again thanks! I am so happy to have found this place. :woohoo:

We are gonna wait to see what the mystery cities are--if not we now have some doable options!
