I know NOTHING about DVC. Is there a thread that has general (Newbie) information??

Hi: Read through the stickies and threads on the dvc planning, operations, and mousecellaneous boards. Post your questions, and we'll all try to answer them. Very basically, it is a point based system and you have the 11 month priority booking window at your home resort.

Hi,
DVC is a point based timeshare by Disney. We joined after I looked at the hotel cost of a trip and realized that even with an annual pass discount it wouldn't take many trips to break even, so we used the money for our hotel as a down payment. You can pay in full or finance. You can buy from Disney or get a good deal from the Timeshare Store. We financed and it has been great.

It has been five years since we joined and we have broken even based on the trips that we would have taken without DVC and have gone way beyond those trips. We have used our points to take family for many trips and take extra trips during the year - things that we could have never afforded without DVC.
