Looking for an off-site the night we come in?

We'll be doing our first drive down to WDW (we've always flown before) so we're looking for a good place to stay the night we arrive & the night we depart. We'll be coming from NC & we're looking for something clean but cheap since we'll only be sleeping there. Hoping to find something 30 or so minutes (or less) away from Wilderness Lodge. TIA!

I don't know what your definition of "cheap" is, but we stayed at The Royal Plaza on our last trip which is one of the DTD hotels. It was clean, and perfect for the night that we flew in before checking in to CBR the next day. We got in and out of there for right around $100, which may seem a little high, but the proximity to Disney was worth it to us to make the transfer to CBR and getting to the parks on the next morning that much easier.

We always stay at the County Inn and Suites non Apoka Vineland Blvd in Lake Buena Vista, it's about 10 minutes from DTD. It is about $100 bucks a night but you get breakfast and a comfey bed. There are cheaper hotels you can grab a discount book at any of the restareas assuming you are coming in on the turnpike, they have coupons and special rates in there too. I just always like to know what I am getting when I check in.

We were in a similar situation. We justed needed one night offsite the night before our resort stay began. Just last night I used Priceline and got the Radisson Resort Orlando-Celebration for $40. That is for one night Feb. 28.

Obviously with Priceline you don't get to pick your hotel, but you do get to pick the area. I just chose 3 stars in the Disney area and bid $40. It looks like a really nice resort, but we won't get to take advantage of any of the ammenities since we will arrive late and check-out early to start our "real" vacation.

Wow that does help! I've been looking at Priceline & was about to reserve a 2 star for about that same price. I'll offer a bid now, I was just nervous about that  Thanks for all the help guys!

We stayed at Comfort Inn LBV two years ago on our first night in for $35 (not priceline, but through a link on travelzoo.com). It was clean and fine for a night and it was only one exit away from WDW. I think it was off Apopka-Vineland, too.

did you go to www.biddingfortravel.com ? It will give you a bunch of tips on bidding on priceline. I think you sound like a perfect priceline candidate.
