Okay, since we haven't been to Disney and I am such a planner and LOVE reading this forum, I figured I better just ask and see what you all could come up with.

We are a military family of 4 ( hubby, me, DD 13 and DS 3), that will be celebrating 2 birthdays while there in August. Birthdays will be for my husband ( Aug 6) and our DD ( Aug 8) will be turning 14. We are staying at CBR, 8 nights and on the DDP. One day will be spent at Seaworld so we will have an extra day of DDP to use during the rest of our stay. But other then that info, we are open to any ideas on suggestions. We plan to do breakfast in the room or grab something but not use our DPP for it. But if someone suggest a Breakfast to do, we would look into it.

What would you suggest for our DD on her birthday? We want to make it as special as possible.

Also, my hubby is a BIG sports fan. What is at the ESPN zone area? I told he would love to drink around the world and he got a kick out of that. We just got back from doing 11 years overseas so going to Epcot will be like going home for us. :rotfl2:

TIA!

Our two favorites are OHana and Chef Mickeys

If you don't want to use your extra TS credit on a 2 credit dinner, I would highly recommend the Tusker House Character Breakfast, it is a lot of fun.

I would do ohanas. The characters are "cool". lol its not as babyish.
you could do garden grill dinner at epcot also with mickey, chip and dale and usually pluto

As far as a dinner for your DD, would she prefer one with characters or without? If she would like characters I would recommend 1900 Park Fare or Crystal Palace. If you are looking for something without characters how about Ohana for dinner or maybe Tutto in Epcot?

What type of food does she like?

She actually love Pooh! :) And she loves Chinese food, steak, not that picky at all.

I though Ohana was just character dinning? Is it not? And the Tusker House? Never heard of that one.

You all rock in giving info...Keep it up! :)

Hello from another military family! :flower3:

That sounds like a great trip! So you'll all get your free Sea World passes, DH will get his free five day pass, plus your DD and DH will get their free birthday passes. And don't forget that 40% off room rate. Great timing! :thumbsup2

Are your 8 days counting your arrival and departure dates? Since you mentioned you've never been to WDW before, I'd hate to see you overestimate your stamina. WDW is extremely tiring, and most people build in a rest day or two in a week long trip. With seven park days, that might be a bit much. If you're not totally stuck on Sea World, remember you can also use your free day at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg (I see that you're in VA).

Our teen DD loves 'Ohana and Chef Mickey's best. I think a lot will really depend on what your DD loves to eat the most. If she's anything like my daughter, it's a bit of a tricky time, whether they still want to be treated like a younger kid or a young adult. That's always a toss-up haha. For the most part, my DD is a really good sport, and I've noticed if I act like something is for me (say, seeing a character), she'll play along. Have you involved her with the planning? My DD has been all over the WDW site letting me know what she'd like to do while we're there.

Okay, I'll stop now. Sorry for the book. :goodvibes

So glad to "meet" another military family! :cheer2: I appreciate all your info and will gladly pick it for more info, if you don't mind. Oh I am big on saving dollar to get something good and since we were finally able to work something around those crazy military work schedules.

Oh I am the one that is making us go to Seaworld :rotfl: I love, love Seaworld! We did Disney Paris a few years ago but that is nothing compared to Disney World. We are actually getting passes for BG because we are just stationed about 30 minutes away and plan to spend some time over there plus with our passes no parking fees for anything of their places. :cool1: Plus Water Country too. Our DD was thrilled on this info too!So Seaworld will be free and so will parking that day too.

We are actually arriving on the evening of the 5th. Throught we would spend 3 days of Disney, one day Seaworld and then 2 days of Disney. So that gets our 5 day passes used. Loving the military special on them plus making them park hoppers too. :cool1: And already booked our hotel at CBR with our 40% off too! :cool1:

Our DD will play to keep me happy.. she knows I am more excited then any of them because they know it is so far out. :rotfl2: She will get into it and want to play and do spend time with the characters. I know when we were at Disney Paris ( no one stood in line and pushed ) and we hated it. Told her things would be different in the states. I want to make her day about her and want to do stuff special but want her to be a kid and enjoy it.

If you're a military family and eligible to eat at the Shades of Green restaurants, I have to say the menus look very good. Hope you have a great time wherever you end up eating.

They look good, but :scared: that's about it. At least that's our experience from several stays at SoG. We definitely love staying there, but nix the food. They don't participate in DDP regardless, so not a good option for the OP, but for anyone else considering them, I'd just say, beware. :)

Pick away! Can't guarantee what you'll find at times, but feel free to try. :goodvibes

Ah, thanks. You couldn't pay me to do the DDP, so I tend to miss it when somebody else mentions it. Good catch!
