I prefer beef with hard shell but also enjoy beef with soft shell, chicken with hard shell, and chicken with soft shell.

We typically make ground turkey with hard shells. However, taco night is when I put hard shells, soft shells, tortilla chips... everything goes on the counter and it's fair game however each person wants to make their tacos.

My preference is GROUND beef, not steak chunks in a hard shell. We have a local chain called JimBoys and their twist on tacos is they dust them in Parmesan cheese. They call them "The Original American Taco". I literally have 30 Mexican restaurants within 2 miles of my house, so plenty of options. Many claim to be authentic Mexican, but in my time in Mexico I found their food MUCH less spicy that what I find here, and usually with potato in the tacos.

I was looking for an "all the tacos" button.

I ultimately voted hard shell beef because that is the classic taco to me.

But when I actually make them, it is usually with ground turkey or leftover chicken, and in these:

because I hate listening to DH and DS whine when their shells break.

We are having tacos for dinner tonight when I get done class. We use Tostito's multi-grain Scoops because they have less carbs than either the hard or soft shells. Still not good, but a little better.

Definitely hard shell beef. I don’t eat tacos very often but when i do this would be my go to. This has now made me want to have tacos at some point this week!

I’m making my favorite tacos tonight. Picadillo with potato, tomato and carrot served in a homemade flour tortilla cooked on a comal. Real refried beans on the side made from leftover frijoles a la charra.

I said beef soft but I should note that I am not talking about basic ground beef taco meat. I want steak tacos or fajita beef!

They also need to be soft. Hard tacos are just a mess and never worth the effort to me. They were one of those norms growing up in the northeast but I've lived in Texas for nearly 3 decades and it's rare for me to see anyone eating hard shell tacos here. Yea, they're sold in stores and on menus but even popular taco chains like Torchy's and local faves that specialize in street tacos are all about soft tacos.

We never ate the shells from the store growing up but we’re half-Mexican. My mom made crispy tacos with freshly fried corn tortillas. That’s how I make them, too. Shredded chicken in a fresh corn crispy taco is divine.
