Hey all!
I know you have all heard this before - the unmagical people who can't understand why you love Disney so much, how it's "just for kids" etc. Well I have a co-worker and friend's spouse who constantly make comments like this but I never say anything. What's a good comeback when you hear those annoying-grew-up-to-fast adults?
Here's some of the questions:
"How can you go to Disney all the time?"
"How can you go to Disney when you don't even have kids?"
"Disney is for kids not for adults!"

I have a co-worker who has gone to the same hotel at Ocean City MD during the same week each August for vacation every summer for about the past 18 years, and she doesn't understand why we like going to Disney every other year. Go figure.

"how could you take children so young there? They won't have any fun or remember anything"

"Yet strangely they still are willing to accept my money."
"I rent some while I'm down there. Lots of people do it."

"Disney is for kids not for adults!"

"Then I guess I'm a kid!"

How can you say that when when even young children put on formal wear (princess gowns) to dine at breakfast?

Well, I don't know about your kids, but mine are quite intellegent and are able to recognize the visual stimulation provided. The also have excellent capacity to retain information and will surly use the experience to expand their understanding of the world. (the "well I don't know about your kids" part is the snappy bit)

Because I can, I want to, and it's my life.

Actually, I just started a different job and told my boss I was leaving on Friday for a quick weekend to Disney World (we're seven hours north). He said, and I about fainted - "Good for you!!!!"

Your comeback should be targeted to the individual’s likes or hobbies. For example, if someone asks, how can you go to Disney all the time? You can reply directly to the things that person enjoys.

If the person enjoys swimming, describe the water parks and themed swimming pools.
If the person enjoys sports, go into the activities at the sports complex, racetrack or Boardwalk ESPN club.
If the person is into technology, go into specific high tech activities like the Segway tour or specific high tech rides.
If the person enjoys animals, go into the behind the scene tours at AK or AK lodge.
If the person enjoys golf, describe the gulf courses and the resorts.
If the person enjoys drinking, tell them they can sample beer from around the world at Epcot.

If they say Disney is for kids, throw them a curve and say the characters account for maybe 20% of Disney experience. You can describe the educational attractions how visitors come from all over the world to visit the place.

With everything Disney offers, it’s easy to contradict someone especially if they’ve never been to WDW. If they say they have been, ask them questions and tell them about everything they missed.

As for it's so unsophisticated - what kids want to go on a sophisticated vacation? I pray for her future children - yawn (I'm assuming by those comments she has none).There is a time and place for the Guggenheim and a time and a place for Mickey. Viva La Mickey!

whenever someone asks me why i love going to WDW i just simply smile at them and say, "You just could never understand". then i just walk away from them. every time i have done that i have almost always had that person come up me later on and ask me exactly what i love so much about WDW

We took the DVC tour and the first comment my dad made was "In 20 years you will regret going to Disney all the time. There are other things to do and see besides Disney."
