Hey all!
I know you have all heard this before - the unmagical people who can't understand why you love Disney so much, how it's "just for kids" etc. Well I have a co-worker and friend's spouse who constantly make comments like this but I never say anything. What's a good comeback when you hear those annoying-grew-up-to-fast adults?
Here's some of the questions:
"How can you go to Disney all the time?"
"How can you go to Disney when you don't even have kids?"
"Disney is for kids not for adults!"

Looking for fun, not mean comebacks!!! ::MickeyMo
Thanks!!!!!

how about: "And how many years have you gone to the same hotel at the shore?"
I have a co-worker who has gone to the same hotel at Ocean City MD during the same week each August for vacation every summer for about the past 18 years, and she doesn't understand why we like going to Disney every other year. Go figure.

Kris :wave2:

"Disney is for kids not for adults!"

If they are older (even by a month)
Compared to you, I am a kid

How can you go to Disney all the time

Well with the company bonus, I have no problem...oops you didn't get one?
(always fun to see their reaction to that one!)

How can you go to disney when you don't have any kids?

I didn't have to spend my paycheck on diapers, so I can afford to take trips I enjoy!

My sister in law has made the following comments about our disney vacations..

"It's sooo middle class"
"It's sooo unsophisticated"
"how could you take children so young there? They won't have any fun or remember anything"
I'd like a snappy comeback too.... It can be mean. :rolleyes1

I love going to disney... i have gone other places, but I really like going to disney.

Here's some of the questions:

"How can you go to Disney all the time?"
"It's where I'm most happy. What's wrong with that?"
"You'd either have to work there or be very wealthy."
"What a great idea! If I went all the time, I wouldn't have to put up with these questions." (OK a little bit mean, but they deserve it)

"How can you go to Disney when you don't even have kids?"
"Yet strangely they still are willing to accept my money."
"I rent some while I'm down there. Lots of people do it."

"Disney is for kids not for adults!"
"Then I guess I'm a kid!"

I did grow up, but you grew old. :earboy2:

Are you kidding? Have you seen the prices lately?

"It's sooo unsophisticated"
How can you say that when when even young children put on formal wear (princess gowns) to dine at breakfast?

"how could you take children so young there? They won't have any fun or remember anything"
Well, I don't know about your kids, but mine are quite intellegent and are able to recognize the visual stimulation provided. The also have excellent capacity to retain information and will surly use the experience to expand their understanding of the world. (the "well I don't know about your kids" part is the snappy bit)

"How can you go to Disney all the time?"
Answer: "Because you don't."

"How can you go to Disney when you don't even have kids?"
Answer: If this is a male to male converstion, look at his kids and say, "Are you certain?"

"Disney is for kids not for adults!"
Answer: "Exactly."

My comeback to all those annoying questions like "how can you go back there again and again?" is.....

Because I can, I want to, and it's my life.

Actually, I just started a different job and told my boss I was leaving on Friday for a quick weekend to Disney World (we're seven hours north). He said, and I about fainted - "Good for you!!!!"

Your comeback should be targeted to the individual’s likes or hobbies. For example, if someone asks, how can you go to Disney all the time? You can reply directly to the things that person enjoys.

If the person enjoys swimming, describe the water parks and themed swimming pools.
If the person enjoys sports, go into the activities at the sports complex, racetrack or Boardwalk ESPN club.
If the person is into technology, go into specific high tech activities like the Segway tour or specific high tech rides.
If the person enjoys animals, go into the behind the scene tours at AK or AK lodge.
If the person enjoys golf, describe the gulf courses and the resorts.
If the person enjoys drinking, tell them they can sample beer from around the world at Epcot.

If they say Disney is for kids, throw them a curve and say the characters account for maybe 20% of Disney experience. You can describe the educational attractions how visitors come from all over the world to visit the place.

With everything Disney offers, it’s easy to contradict someone especially if they’ve never been to WDW. If they say they have been, ask them questions and tell them about everything they missed.

"Yet strangely they still are willing to accept my money."
"I rent some while I'm down there. Lots of people do it."

Those are GREAT!! I WILL use them!!!

Lori

Yes. Disneyworld is just for kids. That's why so many adults honeymoon there.
Then make a "duh" face.

"How can you go to Disney all the time?"
:goodvibes Well, I am blessed.
:confused3 What do you mean?

"How can you go to Disney when you don't even have kids?"
::MickeyMo Why do I have to have kids to go to Disney?
:confused3 I'm sorry, I don't understand your question.
:moped: Not having kids makes it easier to go more often.

"Disney is for kids not for adults!"
:confused3 Says who?
 Mickey is not a kid, Walt was not a kid, Roy was not a kid and I am not a kid, but I sure know how to have a good time like one.
:bitelip: Age is a state of mind.
:cheer2: Do you ever go to Six Flags or Universal?
:rotfl: Growing up and growing old are different concepts.

I love going to disney... i have gone other places, but I really like going to disney.

Wow! Your SIL sounds like great company. Thanksgiving must be a treat!

How could you take your children so young there?
"Because I can!"

As for it's so unsophisticated - what kids want to go on a sophisticated vacation? I pray for her future children - yawn (I'm assuming by those comments she has none). There is a time and place for the Guggenheim and a time and a place for Mickey. Viva La Mickey!

whenever someone asks me why i love going to WDW i just simply smile at them and say, "You just could never understand". then i just walk away from them. every time i have done that i have almost always had that person come up me later on and ask me exactly what i love so much about WDW

We took the DVC tour and the first comment my dad made was "In 20 years you will regret going to Disney all the time. There are other things to do and see besides Disney."

When someone asks me "HOW CAN YOU GO TO DISNEY ALL THE TIME?"

I reply ''HOW CAN YOU NOT GO TO DISNEY ALL THE TIME?"

I like the rent some while I am down there line.

How can you look in the mirror and see your reflection every day?
Because I enjoy going there, but it's not like it's any of your business.

I didn't know there was any rules that Disneyland was a kids only theme park.

Because not having kids is cheaper.

Oh my god?! I don't have kids?! Holy sh*t! I guess I can't go to Disney and enjoy my vacations now since I don't have any children. Quick, honey. Let's start having them now so we can have kids, because after all, I need permission from certain people to go to places that I enjoy!
