Looking for a recommendation

I'm thinking of doing an April vacation that is non-Disney. Crazy! My son is 5 and in two months he'll have his 4th Disney vacation. I'm thinking in April of doing a non-Disney trip. Both Universal parks, SeaWorld, Wet n Wild, some of the cheezy Orlando stuff. We've never rented a car before, so we've always been immersed in Disney, which I love. But for something different I'm thinking of renting a car and doing non-Disney stuff.

Any recommendations for hotels? It's just 3 of us, so we don't need a suite or anything. I would also love it if the hotel had cheap/quick breakfast (either a food court or shop where you can buy quick eats). Looking for something inexpensive. I thought about the Nick Hotel since my son would love it, but it's pricey. If I was going to spend that much, I'd stay at a Universal hotel and get the front of the line access. That would be my preference, but it's just too expensive for me, I think.

Have you considered renting a pool home? It would give you some space for a more relaxing vacation, and you'd have your own pool.

I'd also check out the review board and see if something in the Universal/SW area strikes your interest.

What budget are you looking to stay around? That will help narrow it down a lot.

I'm not interested in renting a home. We definitely want a hotel.

I'd stay at a Universal hotel if I could get under $150 per night. That's worth it for the FOTL access.

But other than that, I'd like cheap. Under $100 per night. Not in a seedy area. Close to Universal would be nice.

We have stayed at the Wyndham (next to Ripley's) which is down the street from universal and we LOVED it! We got our room for $40.00 a night on Priceline. It was a wonderful hotel and very close to lots of shops and restaurants. I would check Priceline for a great rate. We have always been happy with our hotels we booked through them! :thumbsup2
Last year we booked a hotel in Washington D.C. for under $100 per night through Priceline (Westin!) and I checked the hotel's website after that and the cheapest room was $350 per night! So we definately got a GREAT deal!!

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza on Universal Blvd. once when our plans changed and we took a flight a day early to avoid a snow storm. It's about 2 or 3 miles from Universal Studios just off West Sand Lake Road. It is a fairly nice hotel with a decent sized pool area, I think there is a restaurant and other typical hotel amenities. We stayed there using Priceline (around $75) but I think the hotel would fit your $100/nt. limit.

Last time, My friends and I went there and stayed at Radisson Resort. I think it is the Best hotel in Orlando! The Rates of the hotel are from $79.00. What's more Kids can eat FREE there. Hope this helps. Have a nice trip!
