Looking for a not so fancy hotel.

My husband and I would like to go sometime but we dont' want a fancy place. Nothing like a Marriott(that's too much). I can't stand bell hops or valets. I just want to relax when we go and not pay to much. we would like to stay maybe downtown disney. Any sugguestions? Thanks

Howard Johnsons Maingate East on 192 is a great, simple, inexpensive place to stay. 10 minutes to WDW. We've been there twice and I would not hesitate to go back there.

If you check the homepage of the DIS they're offering the Howard Johnson Maingate East for as low as $29 a night.

There are tons of inexpensive motels to stay at in the Disney area. We like the motels on Irlo Bronson Hwy(I think thats Rt #192). We have stayed at the Travelodge hotel, there is a few of those there, and had no problems. ALot of the motels in that area you can get for under 44$ depending on when you are going. We like the area because its close to the Disney parks, and just right downt he street from DTD, maybe not walking distance, but less then a 5 minute drive.
We can never afford to stay on Disney property in all the yrs Ive been going, so have to take what we can get to see that Disney Magic
