DW & I are in a bit of a rut on our EP dining and we're looking to try something new. Here are the EP TS restaurants we've never tried:

--Garden Grill
--San Angel
--Akershus (which isn't an option because DW doesn't care for buffets)
--Nine Dragons
--Monsieur Paul
--Tokyo Dining
--Rose and Crown

Of those listed, which would you choose and why? For reference, this meal will be just the 2 of us, but romance isn't necessarily a requirement. ;)

I would choose Rose and Crown for sure. The food is surprisingly good and we find the atmosphere charming. For me, the sticky toffee pudding is among the top three desserts in all of Disney along with Oooey Gooey Toffee Cake and 'Ohana Bread pudding. I am not a huge fan of chocolate though, so others may not feel the same-LOL.

Out of the others I would stay away from Nine Dragons-possibly the worst food we have ever eaten at Disney.

my family absolutely LOVES garden grill!

i'll be dining there again in a few weeks with my sister and niece (soon to be 17).

we enjoy that its served family style vs having to get up to get it ourselves.

and its probably the best character meal i've ever experienced.

its a very relaxing atmosphere and we felt like we were the only ones there.

From your list, the only one I have eaten at is San Angel Inn and it was fabulous! We had a wonderful server and the three entrees our party ordered were all excellent. It was one of our top three meals of our trip. I had the Pollo a las Rajas which was decadently creamy and the chicken was very juicy and tender. My husband and dad had the Carne Asada which they both loved (I had a bite and it was delicious), and my mom had the Chile Relleno which I didn't try since my husband and I are gluten-free but she commented how good it was and it looked yummy!

Of your list I'd go with Rose and Crown first then San Angel.

I stay away from character meals, my kid is grown and the noise is too much. Like your DW I don't do buffets so that puts both Garden Grill and Akersus out. I've never eaten at Tokyo Dining but did attend a seminar with the chef during F&W and what I had there was good. Nine Dragons is like your typical Chinese restaurant you can go to in any town. While I'm not opposed to the food, it is just o.k. I've never done Monsier Paul so can't address it.

Love the atmosphere at both Rose and Crown and San Angel. The food at both is good, the service decent.

--Garden Grill - we like this, the food is great for adults and the atmosphere is lovely, rotating restaurant in vegetation, and characters who are quite funny (chip n dale)
--San Angel - hated it, atmosphere is interesting and cool on hot day, but tables too close together and the food was horrible, we had to spread it out over our plate so it looked like we ate something
--Akershus - never been, DS doesn't like princesses, CRT was torture
--Nine Dragons - this is our favorite restaurant, I know others hate it, but we have always had great meals there that we love and find really enjoyable, we go two or three times a trip - beef dish is favorite and ginger icecream
--Monsieur Paul - never been, new since our last visit
--Tokyo Dining - we love this place will go twice a trip, never had a bad dish but don't have a favorite either
--Rose and Crown - we love this too, but more for nostalgia as we have English heritage, and we find it fun there, and the food is great but not spectacular, but we always eat it all and servers have always been friendly

My pick is Nine Dragons, but everyone is going to tell you not to go, so my second pick would be either Tokyo Dining or Rose n Crown

GG was meh...very chaotic and just average Thanksgiving food. Akershus was much the same and super expensive. R&C was blah too and terrible service. Never been to 9D, MP or TD. San Angel would be my suggestion but more for atmosphere than quality of food. Fun place.

Have had multiple meals and both Rose and Crown and The Garden Grill. I'd go with the Rose and Crown, because as another poster pointed out, the sticky toffee pudding is one of the best Disney desserts!

San Angel and Rose & Crown are both OK and usually make our "if we need something to fill a spot" list. That said, of our upcoming 42 meals, neither made the cut.

We like Akershus but prefer breakfast...and it's family style/buffet. We have a breakfast ADR there soon.

Nine Dragons and Garden Grill we have never been to. Garden grills menu does not thrill us...although we do have an ADR for breakfast coming up...can't go wrong with breakfast. And Nine Dragons has tempted me a few times but I read reviews and look at the few pics I can find and almost no one raves about their food, portions look small for the price and my kids don't do Chinese...they would literally eat white rice and that's it!

Now Tokyo Dining and Monsieur Paul intrigue me. But, I think I am holding out for an adult only trip because again, kids! But one of those would be my choice...have heard great things about both...pics look good...

Here would be the order I would pick from these or why I would not...

--Tokyo Dining This is our favorite date night dinner; we love Japanese food and the atmosphere here, especially if you are in the main room and can people watch out the windows at sunset.
--Monsieur Paul We had a great meal there, but the atmosphere was not as cool to us as Tokyo Dining
--San Angel We've had great meals here over the years. I love that the scenery is cool and different than any other restaurant, anywhere.
--Rose and Crown We like it ok, but much of what we like is the same stuff we cook at home.
--Nine Dragons Have never tried it as we like our Chinese food at home and didn't see anything that we thought was cool enough to want to try it.
--Garden Grill Would not do this as it's family style which is close to buffet type food.
--Akershus It's a buffet.

If you are solely interested in food quality and service, I would go to Monsieur Paul. The food is excellent.

My second choice would be either Tokyo Dining or Rose and Crown. For atmosphere, Tokyo Dining (though you will find better sushi at Kimono's just behind EP at the Swan). Rose and Crown is pretty consistent.

San Angel - atmosphere great, food is gross. Nine Dragons, yuck. Garden Grill is ok, but don't think I would do it without kids. Last time I went to Akershus it had a small buffet, but you still ordered your entree from a menu. ??? Maybe that has changed? Even so, the food is not worth the uncharge if you aren't interested in the characters.

If you are willing to briefly leave EP, there is great food to be had in the Boardwalk, Swan/Dolphin area! Flying Fish is really good. Il Mulino, Kimono's and blue zoo are fantastic.
