We are coming from Georgia to Orlando on March 26th. We want to be closer to WDW the morning we are to check in, March 27th. Where should we spend that night inexpensively and should we make reservations? We could stay anywhere within an hours drive of WDW. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I just stayed at the Fairfield Inn at Marriot Village (right by 535 and I-4 and the Premium Outlet) on both ends of my WDW visit. It was $59 + tax (Orlando Magicard rate) and it was a nice place. Clean, quiet, with fridge and free WiFi and free breakfast. They gave me a great room location--each time right at the end of the hotel by the door to the parking lot so it was very quick to get in and out with my luggage. Location was excellent--either get on I-4 to WDW or down to 417 (Greenway) to WDW or even up 535 to Downtown Disney.

I also considered the Radisson parkway (which had a $59 rate at the time) and the Best Western Lakeside (also $59) and the Red Roof Inn (Kissimmee) which was around $35. I have had good luck with Red Roof Inn nationwide.

are you coming I75 then Florida TUrnpike then US 27

or are you coming I75 then florida turnpike then I4.

different ways - will be closer.

if you want something before you get to Orlando - Ocala on I75 is a little less than an hour away.

If it were me I'd drive all the way to Orlando and stay someplace near WDW. That way you can get a nice early start the next day. I am enough of a Disney "fan" that I have driven to Orlando from DC in a single day, gotten to Orlando and checked into a hotel, then hit an outlet mall or two for their Disney warehouse deals. Then up the next morning before 7am, hit a quick buffet, and then onto the WDW property for early resort checkin and even early park entry (did this on one trip--got the pre-check-in at WL at around 730am then onto the launch to hit MK early opening hour).

should we make reservations for an Orlando area hotel before we head down? I was just going to stop when we were tired, but now I am thinking we should just keep driving into the night so our kids can sleep through most of the drive. Can we check in our hotel before the 4 pm check in time?

I like us27 - it leads to US 192 and therefore Kissimmee - others preferred going to I4.

Kissimmee has most reasonable hotels.

Cypress pointe is really close to DD.

or you can stay in Ocala it is about an hour away.

I drive straight thru also.

yes, you can check in before 4pm - that doesn't mean you will get a room - although with most of the hotels/motels in the area you will.

In my case I made reservations about 24 hours before I arrived at the hotel. I did put a hold on the reservation with my credit card. Another possibility is to wait until you are in Florida or even Orlando and then pick up the multitide of coupon books that are everywhere. They may have a deal but it is hard to beat the deals you get with either the Kissimmee web site or the Orlando Web Site (Magicard folks).

We stayed at the Comfort Inn LBV last Wednesday night and loved it. If you book online, it is less than $50 per night including taxes. Before taxes we paid $44.10 for a non-smoking room with two double beds. To get this great deal, go to www.choicehotels.com and select Comfort Inn in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. There is a drop-down box for discounts and select "special internet rate", which is a deal if you book online. We loved the hotel! It is only three miles from the park and we were at POR to get our park passes the next morning within ten to fifteen minutes. It is cheap, clean, and close to WDW!
