I absolutely love homebased sales - I've done several things in the past - Tupperware, Avon (currently a Rep), Mary-Kay, Petra Fashions, and Creative Memories. I've even done Amway (did not like that so much).

I am one of those rare breeds of people who enjoy doing parties and enjoy the whole aspect of home-based business.

I'm looking to get involved in one-two- and maybe even three - more homebased businesses.

What do YOU sell? Please tell me advantages and disadvantages as well as start-up costs and the percent of commission.

Thank you kindly!!!

I don't sell anything currently, but I do enjoy going to both Tastefully Simple and Pampered Chef parties. They've got some great stuff!

Scentsy is supposed to be a great company to sell for and very popular right now where I live.

I don't do this, but I had a friend who used to have beading parties. The hostess sends around booklets to everyone who is invited and they buy kits for necklaces. At the party, my friend had all the equipment out and coached everyone through making their own jewelry.

The jewelry was high quality and not expensive and people had a blast making their own!

To get involved, you had to buy a "starter kit" of beading supplies and set up your website on the company website, but as I knew folks who bought the starter kits just to have and keep - apparently it's a pretty comprehensive set and it was cheaper to buy from this company than to buy the independent parts from the hobby store.

I don't remember the company name though, but I've always thought, if you like doing the parties and meeting people, this would be a great thing to get into - my friend made good $$ and never felt taken advantage of.

I sell ThirtyOne products. It's personalized bags, purses, lunch totes, cinch saks, towels, bibs etc.. Awesome products.. Love them...

99 to start and can earn that back...

Thank you everyone! Great ideas that I will be looking into! I knew I could count on my fellow Dis'ers! :-)

I sold Pampered Chef for 3 1/2 years and loved it. They have changed their structure since I "retired" but it was very well run. You don't pay for any credit card processing like some other companies.

They now have various levels of start up kits, I think ranging from $50 - $300. You can earn free products when they change over the seasons (March and September) baesd on your sales for a certain month.

Commission was 20% to start (and was tiered up as you sold more in the month) with a cap of 25%. After you hit $15,000 in career sales, yu got a 2% increase, so 22% would be the lowest each month.

Good luck....I have a basement FULL of PC merchandise that I earned for free...now if I could just get my act together to post it on Craig's LIst for my Disney fund!!!

My sister sells for lia sophia jewelry. There is no start up cost. Your mentor person (don't know it's called lol) sponsors you in with a starter kit of over $1000 worth of jewelry. Once you complete 5 shows in a certain amount of time, the starter kit is yours, no strings attached. She makes 30% of all show sales, and she can buy pieces at ridiciously low prices. She also earns free jewelry credits if she meets certain sales per month. You have to do at least 1 show every 3 months to stay active, but you could make a FT business out of it. Her boss makes over 6 figures a year selling jewelry!

Needless to say, my family is fully outfittied with lia sophia bling!

I also sell Thiry One products and it is great. If interested get in touch with your consultant because there is now a great opportunity for new consultants.

I come up with any excuse in the book to avoid these parties like the plague, but I went to a Tastefully Simple party last week and it was AWESOME and I actually decided to host my own party in the future after attending!!! The food was so yummy and everything was very reasonable in price, so there is really something for every budget. All of the merchandise just really seemed to sell itself and this concept is very popular in my area right now!

I also sell lia sophia jewelry on the side. You can check it out at www.liasophia.com I earn 30% commission. I have also earned A LOT of jewelry which is FUN! I used to hardly ever wear jewelry- now I never lave home without it! :0) Lia has high quality jewelry and offers a lifetime guarantee on all of it. The companey provides a lot of support Some sell it as a "hobby" (kinda like me)- some earn BIG bucks doing it. It is there for however much you want to put into it. The previous poster's information is a bit off, but is obviously how her sister's upline runs it. I paid a small start up (I believe it was 125.00- and got over 800.00 worth of jewelry which was MINE and all the business basics I would need to start)- my upline helped me with my first show, and I was up and running. Now my Lia money is my "Disney money"--

If this sounds like something you may be interested in, my upline has a GREAT information call where you can "dial in" and get information with no strings attached. PM if you may be interested or if I can answer any questions you may have.

Melaleuca, all environmentally friendly household products and some really great beauty products.
Avon, it self sells really and I love the gifts I can get for others.
:)

My cousin is one of the inventors of the Miche Bag. They do home parties. Miche's are very popular where I live and they have recently launched in Europe. I really don't know much about the home demonstrators but you can find info at michebag.com

I went to my first Stella and Dot party last night and spent a bundle! loved the cute stuff.
My friend is the consultant- it's just starting out on the east coast so it's a beginning step. Good bonus for signing on new salespeople just for that reason.

i am also looking for something to sell from home as im a fulltime college student and single mom of 2 kids. I am looking for something with a small start up fee but is fun

I don't sell anything, but I have really enjoyed the Tastefullly Simple parties that I've attended and their products are awesome! Seriously yummy stuff!

Another one that I enjoyed was Uppercase Living - high quality vinyl wall decor. Nice stuff that holds up over time.

Since it hasn't been mentioned, Market America. You can specialize in Make-up, vitamins, web site sales etc. They have a lot of venues you can pursue and a fantastic compensation plan. If you go to their website you can find an informational meeting near you. Good luck!

Wow - thanks everyone!

I think I am going to look into Tastefully Simple - I love the name of it!! - I looked at the site - looks like something up my alley!

Blessings,
Crystal
