Looking for a Dog

ParisSofa50.jpg

Does this dog look like she needs exercise? Paris Hairless Hilton is a total couch potato. I have two cresteds and my male is a little more active but not much. Paris Hairless actually hides under a blanket if you pull a leash out. :rotfl:

These dogs are low maintenance. Grooming is minimal, they get a bath each week and nails trimmed as needed. A little trim of facial hair every month or so. Oh, and sunscreen on them if we take them out for long rides in the convertible.

They do bark at the doorbell and if they see a stranger in our back yard (pest control guy, landscaper) but that's it.

I read an article recently about these. It said they are great for people with joint aches and pains. You have them lay on you where you are hurting and it releaves the pain. I guess it is because they run at a high body temp so it is like a heating pad.

OMG!! Paris Hairless Hilton is outrageously adorable!!! Love the story about her hiding from the leash. What a riot! Thanks for the smile! :)

We have a 3 month mini australian shepard. She is very smart and easy to train. Her parents are 14 and 15 inches. SHe should be around 20lbs.

She does require excerise daily. She is excellent with the kids and really has no favs. She will follow you from room to room. She just wants to be with someone. She is an excellent playmate for our 10yr. dog. She motivates her to get up and play.

I could only suggest the breed of my dog from personal experience.

He is a mixture between a Jack Russell Terrier and a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Although Jack Russel's have a bad reputation, his mixed breed nature makes him so friendly!

Maybe a sausage dog, love those! hehe

I love my shih tzu. He loves to play but spends more time snuggling with me. Of course, we take him and his sister (border terrier mix from shelter) to day care so they burn a lot of energy there. Our border terrrier requires much more activity and loves to play even when she gets home from day car, after a short nap. Shih tzu weighs 15 lbs. (he's big for a shih tzu) and border terrier weighs 10 lbs. Both bark but not obsessivley. If you want a dog that will worship you, get a shih tzu.

The Shiba Inu fits all of your requirements. It does not do well off leash though so if you don't have a fence it would need to be leashed at all times while you are outside or it will wander.

They don't bark much, my female really doesn't bark at all and my male is a good watch dog, he barks when people knock or he hears a strange noise but he is not a nuisance barker. The collie we had for 11 years, loved him dearly but he was a barker! It's a relief that these 2 can stay in the back yard as long as they want without fear of disturbing the neighbors.

They are about 25 lbs full grown, both of mine are 24 lbs and are comparable in size to a beagle. They will adapt their exercise needs to your own, but they have a lot of stamina so if you want to jog a few miles a day they are good to go or if you want to lay on the couch most of the day that will be fine too.

They are also super cute which doesn't hurt (see my sig)! They are very low maintenance dogs.

Good luck choosing your new friend!

Pakey.. she kind of looks like a strange type of giraffe! She's cute!

I'm in the process of looking for another (or 2) dog. Ours passed away about 3 weeks ago and its time for another. All of my other dogs I had just sort of fell into my lap? I never had to "look" for a dog before this is all new to me.

I would suggest a PUG. We have one and he is the best mannered dog we have had so far. He is sweet natured, playful and loves his family. The only negitive I can think of is they shed in summer. They really do make great pets.
